  • In this video, Jack McGee, owner of Jacks Transmissions provides some advice regarding tuning the GT-R to ensure a long and healthy life for the transmission. Jack provides his secret sauce for being able to use Launch Control without it compromising transmission. Jack also discusses clutch crossover, and modifying the default clutch torque table to ensure smooth gear shifts.

    Jack's comments about high engine load during launch, sounds a little like the antilag feature that Cobb/Ecutek have. You engage it on a constant throttle (like say 10% like on the freeway), immediately you see the boost gauge stand to attention, and if you have an aftermarket intake you hear the turbos spool up. Floor it and the engine responds with no lag, almost like a manual car when you pop the clutch. I should ask my tuner if he can do this

      Kinda the best of both worlds. No turbo lag;... and minimal shock to the drivetrane.

      @@The.Garage.Studio I believe the way it works, is that retarding the ignition a lot means that there is incomplete combustion, and a lot of unburnt fuel goes straight into the mouth of the turbo. The fuel hits the hot turbo blades and there's a little explosion which spins them up.
