One of the greatest RTS games of all time, never played the sequel but I kinda wish there would be more games like this. Hopefully it gets some kind of successor one day
Hey Salokin. If you happen to see this I just want to say I'm glad you cover what you cover. Interesting games that truly are "hidden gems" (I know that phrase is beaten to death, sorry). You have a great channel.
Given how catalyst games has been working with the IP, it's quite possible a remaster will come. Also, you say freeware? Hmm, ideas for a review once I get out of the Digital world.
What I wouldn't give for a proper remake of this game. When I think of great RTS games, I'll think about World in Conflict, Homeworld etc., but I should remember this gem of a game. I still have a physical copy, it came with a gigantic manual with beautiful artworks of each mech. I remember my top mech pilots, it was Lynx, Hunter and Firestorm. I also remember restarting missions often, just to try capturing the valuable clan mechs - towards the end, I had 4 madcats and 2 masakaris - I even surprise myself to remember such thing... Why can't I remember important things instead? Also, when it comes to unique RTS games, I've recently discovered a little game called War Pips, it has super addicting core gameplay, mixing tug of war with strategic planning across a randomly generated campaign.
Mech Commander 1 and 2 were great, I was really disappointed in the turn based BattleTech (2018), it's a completely different game. None of the cool features like artillery and air strikes. These games deserve a proper sequel.
MechCommander was better than the sequel, MechCommander 2. Have you tried the MechCommander Mercenaries that came out last year? I heard the AI pathing was uh...difficult to manage.
Games don't always age as well as books, but there are some that have stood the test of time quite well. Whether it's for their stories, their gameplay, or both, it's quite often worth playing the beloved games of yesteryear.
this game is awwsome, the golden years of gaming were around 1998-2003........pretty much all games from these years are way better than anythyng we got in the years until now
An underappreciated gem. Thank you for bringing it into the spotlight ^^
In an alternate universe mech commander replaces age of empires as microsoft's flagship rts series.

Thanks man, i appreciate it
that Hollander 2 was a nightmare to fight when i was young. the early Mad Cat was my favourite thing about this gem of a game.
It's made even better in how you can capture it and breeze through the early game
Loved this game. Iirc salvaging mechs in a mission would also give the incoming pilot xp so you could rank up your crew faster
I've heard Mechcommander 2 is also dope, so expect a video on that

Lanjutkan permainannya mas, sukses selalu 🙏👍👍👍
I am willing to pay $$$ for a new up to date MechCommander 3.
I have some experience in gamedev and thought on making mechcommander remake on unreal engine 4 or 5, but it would take years with my skills

This Jade Falcon would like to thank all who participated in operation Bulldog. The Smoke Jags were a tumor on the Clans.
Except for Moon and Trent
Reminds me of Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. Nice one.
Amazing game. Still play it sometimes.
worth mentioning, Mechwarrior 5 has a mod that turns it into mech commander. No joke.
i was just thinking about this game not to long ago, are you going to check out the sequel sometime?
Yes, if I can get it working, sorry for the late reply
What are your thoughts on mechcommander 2? That's the only one I played and it was awesome. Has a heat system too.
I want to play it, maybe next year
Do you have any plans of covering any of the MechWarrior games?
Maybe, MechWarrior 2 is a vibe and MW3 looks really cool, i've tried twice with MW4 Mercs

I think i sitll have my old copy and the expansion. I loved burning down forwards, blowing up buildings and more just cause I could
Good review.

i suffered from this game when i was 7, but still love. But personally, i prefer 2nd game.

You sound so young. Why do you play all these grandpa games?
Not a complaint, just curious. Sail on.
