    Thank you to everyone who has watched this and commented! It means a lot ! As I can see from the comments I was totally wrong and this is an original song. Obviously I did the wrong research. I will try to reply to as many comments as I can but i appreciate the support 😊

    This is very much an ORIGINAL! Written by Tim, Austin (I think), Chris Chatham, and a few others. It's all about moving on from your roots and taking all that you learned with you. I think it's beautiful. And that's Chris Chatham, a long-time friend of Tim's, on guitar. The "twang" is perfect for this very southern inspired number - Dixie, being Dixieland, the south, the Bible belt, etc. And notice not any real beatboxing in this. Just Adam's voice, and of course his gentle no-monica.

      Ahh thank you 🙏🏾 I appreciate the correction. Also thank you for the meaning of the song I didn’t fully understand it. Yes a slightly different style and also the harmonica made it such more sweeter 😊

    The more I listen to this song, the more I can hear Chance's bass line. He is getting so smooth with it!! 😳❤🎶

    This song is very emotional for me because "Dixie" is another name for the American South, and I had to say "so long" to Dixie years ago, as the way I was raised is no longer in fashion, it's very hard to explain to people that are no American.....just enjoy it as a very pretty ORIGINAL song from Home Free. Tim, Austin Brown and Chris Chatham (playing the guitar) all helped in writing this gem.

      Agree! I'm physically still down here, 63 years, and I know all the lessons and as they said, I'm thankful for them. Wouldn't change them. But, I outgrew most of the ways of thinking many many years ago. And, I don't think you ever lose that "southern" part of you. You just have to expand your thoughts.

      Aww I’ve never known that feel but I definitely felt the warmth from the song. Music can do this and I find when a group or artists create a song that’s relatable and meaningful for them too, it makes you love them more. I’m glad they could do this for you 😊

      @miamidolphinsfan Preach! I grew up just outside of Houston and always felt a bit like an "alien". Almost no one knows what "Dixie" means but if you know - YOU KNOW! And I love that it was the Southern boys + Chris Chatham (umm, why is he not a *full* member yet?) who wrote this song because they *KNOW*.

    Another great original song! This is such a beautiful heartfelt melancholy song. Tim's lead was awesome along with all the guy's harmonies & Adam's harmonica sounds were great as usual. I don't mind having an instrument played once in awhile in a song. It was tastefully done in the background without taking over. It added a nice element. Also like the scenery in Colorado.

    A song so wonderful. A masterpiece. The harmony is just always perfect at Home Free. A good choice to do it with a guitar this time because that's just part of it. Then Adam's no-monica which can be heard at exactly the right moments. Not too overwhelming. Yes, as I often say: Home Free is not only hearing the music, but also feeling it.

    Not from "Blood Sweat and Tears", guitar player was Chris Chatham, co-writer of the song, a Home Free original. Dixie is another name for the South. Enjoyed the reaction, hope you get to feeling much better soon. Take care and blessings always.

    This is the title track of their new album. It was written byTim Foust, Austin Brown, Chris Chatham (on guitar here) and Adam Wakefield from Texas Hill. There appears to be some debate about the meaning of this song. I am from Texas and the Southern states are known as Dixie.

    The fact that you didn't notice the guitar for quite a while is indicative of 2 things - HF has such a full, complete sound normally that you don't miss instruments and 2) the guitar here is not intrusive.

    • @KaireemReactions
      @KaireemReactions  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was definitely intrusive because I didn’t put two and two together. They normally go a Capella so when I notice it wasn’t it took me a while to actually see that 😅.

    Thank you so much for reacting to this one. It resonates with so many people and that's what makes it so special. Also, try Man of Constant Sorrow if you haven't yet done so. Aside: I just discovered your channel today, so I'm sorry if you've already done it. If you don't want to do that one, try Ring of Fire by HF (with Avi Kaplan) - Tim hits a note that will blow your mind (really, it is astonishing). Also, if you want something really fun, try Butts Medley/Remix or Country Fried Pop. Both are absolutely brilliant musically. Really brilliant. Also, End of the Road (Boyz II Men cover). I hope you continue to enjoy your Home Free journey.

    Tim, (lead here), Austin (hair in a bun), Chris (guitarist and Tim’s friend) and Adam Wakefield of Texas Hill wrote this song. It’s an original. Chris Chatham is Tim’s friend, not a member of Blood, Sweat and Tears. (He’d have to be really old). It’s a beautiful song. Love that you love it. I subscribed! 😃 They don’t often use instruments but they do if a guest singer plays or whether they think it’s appropriate. One song with piano is Save the World that Austin wrote….it’s beautiful too. Their new album has 12 original song on it!

    As others already told you, this song har nothing to do with Blood, Sweat & Tears. Those artists are much older now. Fun trivia fact for Swedes , there is a, still living, very famous artist/guitarist in Sweden, from a generation before Tommy Johansson, called Jojje ( Georg) Wadenius. He was living and working in the US as a member of Blood, Sweat & Tears 1975-77.

    Hi Kaireem! Great reactions on your channel. This is an original by Home Free. Blood Sweat and Tears did a song called so long dixie but it was completely different. These guys are without a doubt one of the best if not the best group of the day.

    Another beautiful song by Tim is "I've Seen" (there's a HF video and Tim recorded it on an early album of his own, before he joined HF). Two more beautiful HF songs that will make you feel "at home" are "Colder Weather" and "In the Blood", both covers.

    Great reaction! Dixie is the South being raised southern and Northern are different. Southern values to me are more respectful. I was born in Illinois Northern Values and moved to North Carolina and the people there young and old were more respectful to each other. Anyways. To me this song means how they were raised and taught was good learned so many things but now that they are older it's time to move forward in life and not backwards. So they are grateful to their up bringing but it's time to move on and sad that Dixie is on the beginning of a one way street.

  • @georgefisher1995
    @georgefisher1995 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Blood, Sweat, and Tears? … they had nothing to do with this song. It is an original, by Tim and Austin. A “coming of age” song, Dixie is referring to his growing up and reflecting on the things that made him, as he stands on the edge of the nest, poised to take that first step into the adventures of his life to come.
