I bought a stand up freezer cause I could not keep track of all the food in the chest-great way to rotate food and the use of these bags! I’m gonna try this! Thank you!
A very good video. Good ideas. I have done something similar for years. I use colored fabric big grocery bags, and color code them. Green-pork, red-chicken, pink-fish, etc. etc. The bags conform easily to the shape of the freezer available, and I can easily what I am looking for because of the bright color. I keep a color list on the outside of the freezer. My freezer holds a LOT of things, and yes, I do have to usually remove a couple of bags to get to what I want (Murphy's Law), but it is EASY because of the handles! Thanks again.
I've got to try the bags and totes!!!!!! I've been awful.... just putting things in my chest freezer..... and not using what's in there : ((((( It is in my basement. Maybe I bring one or two things up each trip.... and make something with them : )))
It's so important to actually use those grocery items before they go bad and so often people don't think about the things in their freezer when thinking about food waste
Thank you -your videos are always so informative. I was wondering if frozen food is in the tote, would there be less cold air circulation and would the food not be at as low a temperature as if there were no tote. They look like a great idea I was just wondering if they surrounded the food if the food would get as cold. Thank you.
Chest freezers are also a bad idea for wheelchair users. I know if my dad was still with us. He past 2-1-2024. And we talked about getting an upright so my dad could get food from it for himself. Or when I am doing a mass cooking and baking stint to feed us all I would be able to send dad to get what I need as I need it. As I am making a lot of meals in advance. And dad was renting a room and most of the time made a lot of meals for himself but if I needed to I could make a bunch of meals in advance and save them in the freezer and then arrange for someone to take his meals to him dad had a small section of the refrigerator where he could store his food in the fridge and freezer. Plus we even talked where dad if able would then come to collect the Meals he wanted that would fit in the designated sections of the fridge and freezer. I now have my dad's wheelchairs because of injuries I suffered as a kid which had resulted from time to time in temporary paralysis. Where I am unable to walk. Either dislocated vertebrae or a swollen spinal cord that becomes inflamed for what ever reason. So it would allow be to get to a chiropractor or wait for the swelling to go down so I can walk again. No fun is all I can say. And I remember my father having to carry me during those times when he was still able to walk and carry me and I miss him.
I had a spinal cord injury and was in a wheelchair for a long time, yes I agree they are not wheelchair friendly at all and a standing freezer would be better. My next video that is getting edited right now is for a standing freezer.
Can you please give us information about the gray bin you’re using? Brand, possible source, etc. I think I could use something similar in my small chest freezer. And I can relate-I’m just a fraction over 5 feet tall😊
Yes ❤ the grocery budget goes into it's own account and that where I save up to by half a beef every 18 months, I put around $75 of the grocery budget aside for meat.
$135 per month per person this is the same budget I have used if there are 2-3 of us home or 6. Currently it's just the 2 of us so I have $270 a month for groceries

Those bags are a great way to organize things. I need to get some of them! My freezer is a mess. 😂

Great idea!
It always seems that what we need is at the bottom, I'm glad that you have a good system as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I started doing this a year ago and sorting freezer 1-2 times a year. It's so satisfying and stuff isn't wasted! Thanks for sharing 😊
The totes are genius.
Thank you! It's been really helpful for keeping things organized and easy to move around.
I implemented using bags after you mentioned it in a prior video and it's been a life saver! Thank you so much!
I am glad my tip was helpful ❤

Ice packs areanother good thing for the top. They keep the cold in longer, too.

My freezer is the exact same size but it’s a disorganized mess😅. After 35 years I need to implement a plan like this. Thanks for the tips.

Does the $135/person include the bulk meat you buy?
Yes ❤ the grocery budget goes into it's own account and that where I save up to by half a beef every 18 months, I put around $75 of the grocery budget aside for meat.
Is your $135 per person, per week or per month?
