    About onions, I learned that if you leave a cut onion on the counter, it will absorb the bacteria in the air, which would be favorable if someone in your house is sick.

      People have been doing that for hundreds of years, some put them in socks also while sleeping. I don't know if I would than want to eat the onion.

    Hi from Juneau Alaska again. Just checked Fred Meyers here and a price of quart canning jars is $ 28.99 a case. Did order some half gallon from Amazon 3 different times and only about 5 jars made it with out being broken. Everything has to barged up because we can get here by plane or boat.

    With the carrot's important question❓for me before you soak them in the vinegar solution do you give them a light scrub with the brush under water. Next soak 2-3 mins lay out to dry then cut up and put in your Pyrex glass oblong dish. Because the whole carrot you showed looked really clean.

      I normally keep the extra bread in the freezer. If you can't go through a loaf in a week then only take half of the loaf out of the freezer at a time and store it in a bag. I keep mine inside my cabinet.

    Is there a specific type of containers that should be used for potatoe storage or could I use a small plastic tub?
    Also, about how long can store bought potatoes last in a dark pantry?

    • @TheCrossLegacy
      @TheCrossLegacy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would use a cardboard box instead of a plastic tub which will let more air flow, I use a wire basket. Potatoes stored properly will normally last around 6-9months.

      Fresh garlic you can store with your onions and they don't need to be in the fridge, keep 3 ft away from potatoes. Ginger I store in the crisper drawer if I am going to use it in the next couple of weeks or in the freezer if not.

      @@kettleisalwayson do you get large jars of pickles?

    • @kettleisalwayson

      @@TheCrossLegacy No unfortunately I am the only one in my family who likes pickles so when I can them I do pint and half pint jars. I don't like the taste of a lot of shop bought ones. The biggest size of ball jars we can easily get is the quart size. And even those are really hard to get at the moment. I am really nervous about buying on Amazon for brands I don't know as most of them seem to China imports and they use a lot of chemicals that we wouldn't in the west.
