Totally disingenuous. Ratcliffe owns 27% of United, he can’t be expected to fund a whole stadium for Glazers benefit. The funding is for the infrastructure for transport which benefits the whole wider community and economy. I’m astonished at the lack of understanding from Journos and Broadcasters. Use your brain.

Sir Jim is not asking for public money for the stadium, just for support with regard to the surrounding infrastructure, roads, tram stops etc. This is perfectly normal practice as is the case presently with Liverpool council assisting in the Everton stadium. Jamie Jackson knows this full well but decides to pander to the cockney and the scouse haters. Pathetic mate!
Where is Andy Burnham going to get 2.5 billion ound from? Local services are really going to suffer in Manchester if the Tax payer ends up footing the bill.
He’s paying for the stadium himself and asking for assistance with the surrounding infrastructure which is normal practice. Besides, City’s stadium was paid for in total by the tax payer but it seems that’s ok?? Go figure

Wondering why Man U don’t do what Real Madrid did? Would Real Madrid move to a new stadium/location - I do not think so. To me moving to a new stadium for a stadium/club that is so synonymous with football is a shame. It is like knocking down the Eiffel Tower and building a new one elsewhere. Please do not compare Man U/Old Trafford to Spuds/White Hart Lane! I am not even a Man U fan.

Not a penny of public money should be going into that new stadium.
Why not? Im not a united fan, but it creates jobs and regenerates an area.

I agree. If they weren't the biggest and best club in the world, I wouldn't mind. But why would the biggest and best club in the world need taxpayers assistance? If you're a small club maybe, so I disagree for those reasons.
As far as i understood It, they want to develop the area around It (M16, i think) and not only build a new stadium. The funding they are looking for, is for the development of the area, not for the stadium itself.
