Do note we’re only counting first-party Nintendo games. Our countdown includes "Pikmin 2" (2004), "Fire Emblem: Three Houses" (2019), "Super Metroid" (1994), "Pokemon Gold & Silver" (1999), and more! I agree! SMB3 is the best Mario for me and it's the reason why I became a gamer. When I was a kid my parents gave me an original SMB3 Japan Version and I'm very happy. Super Mario World is good but without the success of SMB3 it's nothing. It's so overrated.

Heck, I'm not even a Nintendo fanboy. I play almost all platforms from Steam to X-Box to Playstation and even Nintendo. As one who enjoys multiple platforms, there are several Nintendo games that are just fun to play from time to time. They're games that harken back to a more arcade like experience. If you don't like that, you don't need to buy it. But there's no need to judge others for their taste in games just because you didn't grow up in a generation before Playstation and X-Box.
My jaw dropped when I saw Ultimate as #1. I was legitimately expecting a Link to the Past or something. Great game, but a laughable number 1 choice for this list.

What has smash done 🤔 well visuals amazing, gameplay easy for everyone to get to grips with, characters to many to choose from, Nintendo adding characters still and still updating it with events, adventure mode, sprits mode excellent. Challenges hard but fun. Umm now you can play with 8 of your friends awesome. A music playlist with over 700 classic tunes, there's also a smash championship like esports or something. A game originally made on the N64 has now become what it is now. And you compare Mario galaxy to it 🤣.

Good lord, Nintendo is so goated. The amount of games I’ve played, love, and remember that weren’t even mentioned here just make it more apparent to me that no matter how many other great game companies rise, Nintendo stands alone atop the mountain.

@@jakealter5504 True, but that's not the point. They specifically put Gold and Silver as the entry, not HeartGold and SoulSilver. In the bottom left corner, they even put "Pokémon Gold and Silver (2000)" over the HGSS footage, so they clearly meant the original games and not the remakes, but for whatever reason didn't include any footage of the originals. It's like whoever edited the video didn't know the original games existed and just put footage of the more recent games being the remakes.

Also breath of the wild should be way higher especially considering they put it number 2 on games of the decade and 1 on best Nintendo games of of decade but I understand why it lower as the other games have made more of a impact. Like it should have been swapped with animal crossing

I think Breath of the Wild is fine where it's at. Plenty of other lists have it at top three if not number one. Additionally, its innovative for the Zelda series. Not for video games as a whole.

Seeing so many GameCube games(my fav system) really shows that Nintendo had so many gems that generation.

Most video game companies struggle to make 1-2 decent games. The fact that Nintendo has made so many iconic franchises spanning generations is nothing short of amazing! Much love for Nintendo.

I have some ideas.
How is that even gonna work?
You probably will see it as 1 of Nintendo's goals is to expand their Ip's beyond video games.
It would probably depend on the success of the Super Mario Bros movie after it gets released next year. If it holds up and is as successful as Sonic The Hedgehog (and if Sonic 2 is a major success too).
But thats my opinion, I'm probably wrong.
Nice but Nintendo needs a massive open world game where you could travel say from The Mushroom Kingdom over to say Donkey Kong's Island or to Hyrule(BOTW's might be too big but what about Ocarina's?) and from there you can travel to Termina, Dream Land, Kanto and the Pokemon regions, Yoshi's Island, Dracula's Castle(Castlevania) to C-Island from Star Tropics all the way to Alefgard from Dragon Quest, or even a Space Ship taking you over to Planet Mobius which is in the Sega Star System on a totally different Planet from most Nintendo games?
I'd pay huge $$$ for this game if they ever did something similar...

Everything all happens in one big, gigantic world (except Sega, like you said being in its own universe. Metal Gear being in a universe closer to our own), each franchise has its own movie, subtle hints and nods here and there to other franchises then they go about their business and carry on. Eventually culminating in them crossing paths with each other in future films.
I know. It sounds like what happened in phase 1 through 3 of the MCU, and whats happening with the DCEU.
For all this, Nintendo, you'll be the best game company of all time. From Mario, Zelda, Kirby or any characters for different games or spin-offs, you are untouchable in game standards. Great list, Mojo.

Hurts that Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 aren’t here. Gorgeous graphics, the best music in a Mario game and truly creative and revolutionary level design and bosses with such epic scale. There’s no way Mario 64 is better unless you grew up with it.

Galaxy is a good game but it is definitely not as good as 64. 64 is more memorable and I don't have to use a Wii-mote to play it. Also when a soundtrack plays in my brain it is usually from Super Mario World or 64.
@@fj60driver as a kid who grew up playing sm64, it was overhyped. Banjo kazooie, crash and spyro were much better games. Super mario galaxy was the perfect mario game. I had better comtrola than 64 too. I'd rather play with a wiimote than a lousy n64 controller.
@@mania4270 I will agree Banjo Kazooie was better but Crash and Spyro suck and have no relevance to a discussion about super mario games. That's like comparing The Godfather to Scarface. The Wii mote was a gimmick to sell consoles to your grandma and not really that good.
@@fj60driver heck no. Spyro had better controls and a more imaginative story and worlds. I love sm64 but it times its can feel more like a glorified proof of concept of what the n64 can rather than another entry in the mario canon. I also think jak and daxter/sly cooper/ ratchet & clank games were much better than smsunshine. Banjo was much more layered than sm64 with story and what you can do. Sm64 controls also are a bit off. Sure as the first 3d platformer, it controls fine but many times I fall off something because the camera was fighting me or controls would push Mario a bit too forward or backwards and usually can screw up a jump. There's way too much trial and error to the point of it becoming monotonous. This isnt a nintendo vs Sony thing. Im just saying sm64 is overrated.

I love that F-Zero GX was included! To this day my favorite racing game, and criminally underrated. The Soundtrack was phenomenal too.
I do feel that if you were going to include Pokemon, that means you could also include Xenoblade Chronicles (considering Monolithsoft is a 2nd-party developer like GameFreak is). That game is an absolute masterpiece, and definitely deserves a place in the top 20.

@@SJT9791 Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece, I watched 3 youtubers play it blind and it brought them to tears, that's how good the story and characters are. The gameplay is so beyond reproach that every game company out there copied this games mechanics.

This list doesn't feel genuine. Each game listed is a great game but I don't know too many Nintendo fans that leave off Link to the Past. I also have a feeling they never played Tropical Freeze.

I have BOTW #1, Ocarina of Time is a great game but Nintendo redefined the Open World games with Breath of the Wild. Can't wait for BOTW 2.

This is still one of my top most watched videos by you guys, and looking at recent developments, well... I can safely say, with the Booster Course Pass for it, Mario Kart 9 might be really far off from being released, but at the same time, it has fully cemented Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the best entry in the series by far. As far as Fire Emblem: Three Houses goes, no doubt people still gush over the multiple story routes and ways to branch out your units into different classes, but from what I'm seeing, Fire Emblem Engage is going to be some tough competition for it; while it may be going for simpler mechanics with the classes and story, and possibly having fewer units than past games did, the Emblem Rings look to be adding some major depth to where even systems from Awakening and Path of Radiance will be really built upon. Past games have had classic characters make appearances in one way or another, but this is probably the only Fire Emblem game to make that not only a device important to the plot but also to really expand upon what units can be best with what when it comes to weapon types, as well as adding a massively unique spin on the Second Seal system that does bring in some elements from Three Houses.
I would like to see Dante, Virgil, assassin‘s creed, doom slayer, and scorpion/subzero in the next or continuous of super smash bros ultimate, my top three favorites are Joker Cloud and Sephiroth, also had the best reveal trailers
Smash Ultimate totally deserves #1 just for all the hard work Sakurai and his team put into it with getting the rights for all the dlc characters and stages Smash Ultimate will forever be my favorite Smash game ever Thank You Sakurai and Sakurai’s team for this amazing smash game
And to end it with the character most people have been begging for for ever a decade sora I count that as the perfect end grand finale for smash ultimate

gotta give my favorite franchise, warioware love here. I mean, you gotta be on your toes for each microgame, and getting a 999 score is always a fun task to do, and let’s not forget 9-volt and his nintendo classics, it makes you always wonder, what’s the next classic he’s going to bring out every series game. plus, it opens the door for other franchises to make it as classics. get it together is my fav so far, with gold being my second.
I honestly expected SMB3 to be on this list. I'm really surprised that it wasn't.
Nintendo beats all other gaming companies even with their somewhat dumb choices at times because they either make bangers or flops and they are doing amazing with the switch

Back when console wars were more of a thing, the old saying never fails "no matter what 'side' you were on, everyone comes back to Nintendo"
Man, they've come a long way since Super Mario Bros way back in '85 on the home consoles. Sure they've made quite a few bad decisions and had some consoles that didn't live up to their expectations, but they still managed to give us lots of good games along the way. Some of these games I've yet to play (BOTW being one since I finally got a Switch).

Mario Kart Ds will always have a special place in my life
Watching this really makes me love my switch even more. It definitely feels like a greatest hits console for Nintendo. So many of the games on this list can be played on the switch, along with other amazing ones. Long live Nintendo
I think I've mentioned this before but there was another fangame which is based off of Super Mario 64 that I played called Super Mario 63. It was that minus the 3D so it went back to its roots. You could kind of still explore the place but obviously going 2D

I would love to see greatest Nintendo game per decade
There are quite a few Nintendo games that are my favorites but two of top favorites that would by tied are Wind Waker and Twilight Princess plus I hope both those games get ported onto the Switch since it would be a crime for them to not get added.
So glad to see F-Zero represented. I would've included Xenoblade Chronicles, Golden Sun and Earthbound/Mother 3
As much as I'm happy fire emblem three houses made the list for me it higher but that my biases to it but my main issue was that they didn't explain really why it should be there well enough mainly not mentioning how the four drift route creates such unique world and experience when combined together

Now this is a great list! A lot of games for anyone player. I’m glad a few of my favorites made it here and also, you gotta give props for SMW, I still think that game is the best Mario 2D platform

Kid Icarus: Uprising was but but the controls were a little difficult to get used to. But yeah, I would recommend this game definitely!

While I agree that Nintendo made a huge improvement on battle mode from Mario Kart 8 to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I still don't like how after you lose all your balloons you are not eliminated like in DS. It's just whoever gets most balloons which I like, but I wish they added in a mode where you got eliminated when you lose all your ballons.
I like how all of the footage for Pokemon Gold and Silver is from Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
Ultimate might be a great Nintendo game. But Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 deserved the number 1 and 2 spots in this countdown. Should do another top 20 Nintendo games because only doing one list doesn’t represent the full greatness of Nintendo game.

I’d almost agree with everything on this list. It’s a really good list. But when Ocarina of Time is almost widely considered the best game of all time and it gets number 3 I think it’s a little sus. But other than that I really do like this list!
