In a interview Ivan the guitar player said he messed up three times doing these songs cuz he couldnt focus on his playing ,He kept thinking I never been sitting next to such a natural talent in my life. After his third mistake angelina took him aside and told him very kindly just follow me up the scale and down. He thought she was gonna say you're fired like Trump would say. He was gone at thirteen so maybe he was fired or quit I dont know.

She had an adult voice and master vocal skills at 10. There are many great performances, crossing several genres at 10 and she is not afraid of any song, by any icon or from any decade.
Angelina was driven by her own passion for music. After winning NGT her mother was asked, what’s next for Angelina? Her answer, school. That she would be allowed to pursue her music as long as it didn’t interfere with school and having a normal childhood. And she kept that vow to this day. AJ was only allowed to do summer concerts and charity events as long as it didn’t interfere with school or childhood. They fought off the biggest names in the industry to protect her from being exploited. And that’s also why she’s just now, at 17, moving into the initial stages of her career.
AJ was driven by her love of music. As any real artist is. So her parents and family had to act as brakes and protect her from herself in many ways, until she was mature enough to know the world she was getting into.
I think they did a spectacular job of putting AJ first, and if there were a national award for parenting, they deserve it.
She will be full on Elvis level. Just her presence will send people on an emotional rollercoaster. Public hysteria level!

this is one of my very favorite performance and i love the guitarist Ivan Mendez
12 years old and taking songs from Adele. Ivan Mendes(guitar) said they met at her house after he was off work. They had dinner, talked about music and decided on a song. While he learned chords, she downloaded the lyrics. Then in 1 or 2 takes these songs came out. Usually 1 take, he said more than 1 take was because he messed up
Ivan always came over to her home, and that's where they recorded. And these songs were never planned ahead. They were just talking about music, and every now and then they wanted to try and perform a song which they both liked. Ivan had a few minutes to learn the chords, and Angelina was reading the lyrics. She never had the lyrics down beforehand. That's why you always can see her read the lyrics off an iPad or tablet either on her lap or to her left. These recordings are most of the time a first take and a one take. This has been confirmed both by Ivan and Egil in interviews. Egil played for her from she was 7 until she moved. They said that if they indeed needed a second take, it was always on the guys and never Angelina. Still to this day Angelina is known to producers as a one and done artist. This puts her in a league with only a handful of other artists. Sam Smith being one of them. To be able to sing with so much emotion while at the same time reading the lyrics in a foreign language when you are 12 years old is just incredible. Prodigious 🙂

Whenever it comes to singing a heartfelt ballad, there is no way a 'Pop' singer,
even one as great as Adele, can bring forth the level of emotion laden penetration
of a true jazz specialist like Angelina. Listen to her, also casual, rendition of 'Stay'
by Rhianna, and the same result comes forth.
She has a reputation of touching hearts with her interpretations of covers more than the original artists. It's not just this song. Songs are filtered through her emotions filled jazz and blues foundations. She often brings grown men to tears. It's so beautiful and so heart felt. This is her home music corner where she has done some of her best work. The guitar player, Ivan Mendez, said in an interview it was sometimes difficult playing for her because she was so good it was distracting. He couldn't believe he was playing for someone that good. Loving your reactions to her. I love that distinction, some are artists and some, like her, are legends.

Actually her family managed to protect her really well through her younger childhood even up to current times..turning away many many contracts and performance opportunities allowing Angelina to focus on school and friends.

I agree fully with your reaction. Angelina has done lots of covers (like this one is) and also a reasonable amount of original songs as well. We must take into account that Angelina is only 17 so who knows what is laying ahead for her and for us. To me one of the good things what has happened the last 10 years is that the people around Angelina have protected her from too much publicity and media-hunters. Singing is her "second nature", she can perform different genres of music very well, and it is so good she has the chance to develop in the direction she wants to do. Her lable has provided a recordingstudio for her, so she can experiment and rehearse as much as she wants and at the pace she can handle: apparantly they have recognized that they have a unique singer "in the pocket" and I think they will not regret this approach. At the end it will pay off at both sides. Too many young singers has been damaged mentally (depression and worse) because of to much pressure on their shoulders at a young age. And I have the impression that Angelina really loves to do what she is doing and I think that's the only right road to a long carrier. I mean: she has been involved in almost every arrangement she has sung since she was 7-8 years of age.... How many kids can say that? Not many....

Anytime we see Ivan Mendez playing guitar for Angelina we know it was 2018 when she was 12 years old. God bless Adele fans who prefer her voice and I respect their opinion, but for me, Angelina's voice is much warmer with more emotion. Alan Papier, on his TH-cam channel, interviewed Ivan Mendez, and we learned a lot. Angelina would ask him if he knew a song and if he did, they set up the camera and the majority of videos we enjoy, were done on the first take. NO practice needed. Angelina is next level in so many ways.
Love watching you discover the most gifted vocalist I’ve ever heard and I was born in Motown in 1964. Raised on great music and I’ve never heard anyone like her. She’s already been invited by Quincy Jones to sing at his birthday. Queen, after hearing her version of Bohemian Rhapsody, gave her the legal rights to her version. Her version of “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston will blow your mind. AJ can sing any song and make it her own while paying homage to the original artist. She’s such a gift.

Ivan Mendez is her guitarist when she and her family moved to California. These sessions with Ivan are impromptu in her home and as Ivan has related to super fan Alan Papier these sessions are one and done! Ivan is invited to dinner and after dinner AJ goes over a book of songs and selects one that appeals to her (may listen to the song on YT); then ask Ivan if he knows this song and if not she gives Ivan a few minutes to learn the chords...then off the go!! Notice that AJ occasionally look to her left to read the lyrics. They have done several of these sessions only a handful has made there way to YT (Always on my Mind (dedicated to her paternal grandfather), California Dreamin', Happier, Stay, What is Life and others where Ivan is not visible How Great Thou Art and Wake me Up (dedicated to her friend Avicii)).

It's actually an Adele song, released with the album "25" when Adele was 27yo (Angelina is 12yo here). It's not that well known, but it was at least nominated for an Emmy.
The song's lyrics touch upon themes of fame, and how it "frightens", talking about how fame has personally affected Adele and everyone around her, singing about how she misses the air, her mother, and her friends. Very personal, so it's amazing that Angelina conveys these feelings even more emphatically than the original. Because that's the real talent that Angelina has - to convey feelings to the listener that touch the heart and soul like no other singer can. Do you remember your first Angelina reaction video (You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine)? And I think Angelina can understand Adele's thoughts quite well, after all, she had just moved to LA at the time and left all her friends and her Norwegian home in Oslo.
As I said, Angelina is 12yo here, once you get to 15yo Angelina, be sure to check out her version of Adele's "Easy on Me"!
Angelina's version of Rihanna's "Stay" also has a similar effect to "Million Years" - perhaps the latter is even a little more haunting.
Angelina always had her tessitura in the contralto range (as did Amy, so her tone/texture often comes to mind). But Angelina has always been able to go much "higher" when necessary.
As for the high notes - that depends on what you mean by that.

Amy Winehouse was amazing, but her career was pretty short due to passing away. And I think it is true that Angelina has a similar tone, especially as she gets older. In fact, I would guess that she's deliberately leaning into it on her EP. At least that's how it sounds to me. AW was failed badly by the people close to her who should have had her best interests at heart but didn't and I'm so glad that Angelina's situation is the polar opposite of that.@@dojoswitzer
