    Thank you for this. Following the manufacturer instructions simply would not pair my phone. Your instructions worked great.

    I have the C4 Pro and the SC1 Advanced. A few points from my experience:
    1. I had a problem with the fit of the battery and helmet. The battery connector springs were not sufficiently tight so that any shock (e.g., slamming down the visor) would momentarily disconnect power and turn off the SC1. I wasted time with Schuberth support, but fixed it myself by inserting a thin piece of foam between the battery and cover that created more pressure and a better connection.
    2. I never use any of the “Advanced” features. It’s a waste. In fact, demonstrating its integration with various devices and intercom config is also a complete waste. This is what I do and what everyone should do: use the C4/SC1 purely as a headset to your phone and mount your phone (e.g., RAM mount X-grip) in front of you (with USB power). Your smart phone is the most advanced piece of consumer electronics you own and you update it more often that others. It does everything you need - GPS/Nav, Bluetooth, phone, music, performance apps, radar detector connection (e.g., Escort 360), intercom, etc. Just pair your phone to the SC1 and you’re done. Now all control is via your phone (my glove tips are touch-screen capable) including adjusting volume, answering calls, etc. It’s way better than reaching back and pressing hard into the helmet buttons to navigate its austere interface.
    3. Oh, download the Schuberth app to your phone and update the firmware.
    Eventually Bluetooth headset capability will be part of every helmet. Eventually bike manufacturers will understand the centrality of the smart phone and design their consoles with a place for your phone, including the provision of internal telemetry and advanced configuration for better/customized UI.

      Thanks for the comments
      WOW Bernhtp, You are on THE PAGE ;-) You need to watch my other videos about using the PHONE ONLY we are on the same page. This was one of the hardest reviews I have done. We are VERY GOOD freinds with Schuberth and own SIX of them. BUT the C4 is a terrible helmet and if you can read between the lines you will see this. I have retired my C3P and am using the NEW SENA Momentum "Intellegent Noise Control" helmet at $549.00 ready to go out of the box. THIS IS A GREAT SYSTEM. (Video is "RKA presentation of the SENA Momentum Intelligent Noise Control Helmet" I do seminars on this 10 to 12 times a year ... When I am not doing the BMW seminars with my BMW all prettied up with this and that connections .... When they are not looking I JUST USE MY PHONE as SENA Blueooth headsets were designed best to do. WATCH "SENA Bluetooth for dummies" and 30K "Hello SENA" and "Hey SIRI" voice commands. Thanks again for oyur comments. Ride safe. Richard RKA

      I own my second C4, and luckly I have not had any problem. I did notice that the battery does NOT fit snug,,,but despite of that, it does not give me any problems.
      I am surprised with so many bad reviews on the SC1 and the C4, firstly I have made 42 years of riding last month (September 2018) and I had used all types of helmets, mostly CHEAP ones, and then my Brazilian friend told me I ride nice motorcycles with CHEAP helmts, and I should consider a good helmet for these reasons:
      1-SAFETY
      2-COMFORT
      3-RELIABILITY.
      I am very happy with my 3 year use, and in fact I purchased my second one.
      By the way,
      RICHARD...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR GREAT VIDEOS BUDDY.

      I do not want to confuse my viewers ..... It does not matter which way you connect.... Bull, You had an issue that somehow was resolved ... YOU had some kind of CONFLICT .. I can prove that and show it done BOTH ways ... but I cannot make 30 minute videos when 3 to 5 minute videos are hard to keep a viewers attention. ;-)

    I personally feel the Neotec 2 is a far better helmet. It's quieter, looks WAY better, and you get passive exhaust vents. Which you would think would be on every helmet but the idea escapes Schuberth. Also, every person I know that's bought the C4 with the comm system, Absolutely hates it. Maybe they got unlucky but over 5 people is too many to be a coincidence. To each their own but I feel Shoei is where it's at. Especially for the amount you pay for both. ✌️

    • @Richardrka1
      @Richardrka1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Aaron 93 but you are way wrong. Forget the C4 ;-) ... The SENA Momentum INC helmet is so far ahead of the pack it's amazing.
      Check out that video .... We just arrived in La Crosse WI after 4 days on the motos using the SENA INC helmet Fantastic sound, so quit inside unbelievable!! IT has two things you need to let go of if you want this helmet it is not moduale and it as no drop down screen. Being a xroadracer changing back to the FF was easy. the first video I did is on of the latest look for it. ". There will be another real soon with REAL MILEAGE and testing ;-)

    Love the helmet, and have the SC1A, which I found the microphone to be absolutely hopeless, either using the phone or the intercom. You are basically unintelligible at anything over 40mph. I have uninstalled it, taken the speakers out and bought a 30k instead. I think the SC1A setup needs a proper boom microphone of some kind to be useful. Maybe I just got a bad one, but lost patience with it now. Love all the vids you do though :-)

    • @Richardrka1
      @Richardrka1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would really like to know how you installed the cradle, speakers and mic on the C4, I have been a pioneer in adapting the SENA cradle to difficult helmet applications but I must say I am at a loss on how to do it properly, I .... at this time .... will not do a SENA install. .... Talk to me ;-)

    • @dexradio
      @dexradio 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, it wasn't easy to decide how best to do it. I used the Adhesive mount and mounted the cradle just at the end of the sun shield slider. It is not as "flush" as I would like as a result unfortunately due to the surface of the helmet its mounted to. The built in speakers have been sacrificed I'm afraid, I cut them out, and replaced them with the 30K speakers and phone covers. I did consider leaving them in and using a pair of customised ear buds I have, but just thought I'd go for it regardless. The speakers are better than the standard ones also, in my opinion anyway. I used the wired boom mic and replaced the original mic. The cables from the cradle just go over the neck roll and into helmet where they are routed behind the liner. The mic is velcro'd behind the cheek pad and the boom mic is just in front of my mouth. I'm sure somebody more talented would have done a neater job, but I'm happy enough with it. Its such an expensive helmet and only a few months old, I can't tell you how disappointed I was with the SC1A, and personally I would not recommend it to anyone. Overall, its a compromise on an expensive helmet that I love, but want some decent comms which I didn't feel I had with the SC1A.

    • @Richardrka1
      @Richardrka1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Send me some photos at richard@rka-luggage.com. Sounds like you did what I would not, and ran the speakers and mic wires OVER the neck roll The way the neck roll SLIDES in made the decision for me not to do it. :-( NICE you got it done anyway ;-)

      Sent.
      I resigned myself to having no choice in the matter if I wanted decent comms. But like you, not very happy about it. In practice it works fine though. Also unhappy about the “angle” of the 30K but in practice it’s very comfortable and easy to reach and use. The way I look at it is I’ve made the best I can from what was a well integrated, but poorly performing SC1A.

      I have the Escort 360. It Bluetooth connects to the Escort Live app on my phone, which is then Bluetooth connected to my SC1. Thus the alerts and other info from Escort Live go into my helmet along with other Audio from the phone (Nav, phone and occasionally music). I generally keep the Escort Live app in the foreground on my phone and the phone is on a X-Grip in front of me. It's easy to interact with the phone when I need to (not often) with my touch-screen-capable gloves.

    My husband and I just bought C4's with the SC1A comm system. However we are having trouble getting the two helmets to pair with each other as we like to ride with an intercom between us. I've updated the firmware and tried to follow the manufacturer's instructions but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

    • @Richardrka1
      @Richardrka1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Allison, I must tell you RKA is freinds with Schuberth BUT the C4 is NOT our favorite.
      The answer is PAGE 18 of your users manual SC1
      8.1 Intercom Pairing
      8.1.1
      Pairing with Other SC1 Headsets for Intercom
      Conversation The SC1 can be paired with up to three other headsets for Bluetooth
      intercom conversation.
      1. Turn on the two SC1 headsets (A and B) that you would like to pair
      with each other.
      2. Press and hold the (-) Button for 1 second to enter the intercom
      menu.
      3. Tap the (+) once, and you will hear a mid-tone single beep and the
      voice prompt, “Intercom pairing”
      THIS IS THE STEP EVERYONE FORGETS OR DOES NOT DO .......
      4. Simply tap the (+) Button of any one of the two headsets A or B
      NOW THEY KNOW TO TALK TO EACH OTHER
      and wait until the LEDs of both headsets turn to blue and intercom
      connection is automatically established. The two SC1 headsets A
      and B are paired with each other for intercom conversation.

    Hi Richard. Thank you for your informative videos. I just bought the the c4 and although I find the helmet comfortable, I am getting "imprints" just behind my ears after longer wearing periods. It seems something in the helmet is pushing hard just behind my ears pressing on my skin causing two lines. Is there anything I can do? The rest of the helmet fits and feels fine. I have of used the helmet twice now. If i take a size bigger it's too big for me. I would appreciate your professional feedback on this. Regards from Johannesburg.

    OK Richard, I have a Gold wing and how does it work with the CB

    • @Richardrka1
      @Richardrka1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Badboy, the CB on your GoldWing has nothing to do with the Schuberth helmet or the SENA Bluetooth system. I'll start from the top.1: The 2018 GoldWings have FULL Bluetooth systems, Hook up ANY BT headset and everything works including your receive and transmit on your CB. 2: A GoldWing with a hardwired system would require a SENA "FREEWIRE" www.rka-luggage.com/A46%20SENA/2017%20New%20Pages/2017%20Freewire/SENA_2017_Freewire_page.html (we have these in stock) This unit plugs into the hardwired din plug then transmits the signal to your headset. Again everything now works CB TX & RX. 3. If you have an older GoldWing that does not have a built in CB you could use a SENA SR10, www.rka-luggage.com/A46%20SENA/SENA_SR10_page.html , Midland 75-822 portable CB www.rka-luggage.com/A37Midland/Midland_products%20page.html. The SR10 unit plugs into the CB. The SR10 connects (pairs) to a Bluetooth headset and everything words. Click on the links for more information. RKA has all these devices in stock. If this all seems like to much information we can continue this conversation by calling me at the shop 707 836 7659 or email me at
      richard@rka-luggage.com.

      NO. The SC1 only fits in the NEW C4 Helmet. The SC1 slides into the Helmet NOT the neckroll. AT the 3:20 minute mark in this video it shows the actual unit being installed in the HELMET.

      NO .... universal intercom SOUNDS great but it sucks (you will not find may re-sellers that will be this honest with you ;-) ) as the other manufacturers unit (Scala) looses everything except intercom. .... NO .... music sharing does not work with another manufacturer .... Bottom line here is universal intercom is not something you want to use all the time.
