I can understand that for an experienced and dedicated player Akina might seem boring; particularly solo. I feel this would be "Akin" to calling the AE86 a boring car. Sure you might in time outgrow it but I think that's more of a comment on your skill as a driver than the run itself.
As someone who flat out isn't any good and trying to be better I love Akina online with other people. There's enough margin of error to push a little harder without every corner being death, I can much easier let people by who are way faster, the straights vs hairpins lets me see handling vs power in a very obvious way.
Even the long straights are engaging for someone like me still trying to understand the right line, time and pressure with which to brake. In the same way the AE86 is a car that teaches the driver, I feel the same about Akina as a run. But I guess you are the one who teaches around here, so I'd like to hear your opinion on Akina as a method for learning.

There is no principle of what makes a touge good or bad, every touge is unique and that's what set them apart. Now Akina is very unique because the layout is not similar to any other touge, whereas "narrow touges" are all about s-turns and consecutive corners, hence sharing a similarity. There is really nothing that can decide whether a track is bad or not, it's one own's intuition and how far you can take that course to the limit. It's not the track that's boring, you're boring yourself out.

To me, Akina is the Dust 2 of the togue world. It's a classic. The 4 sections are like 4 movements of a concerto, each with a different tempo/approach (at least in TA)
It's kind of like Suzuka, in that regard.
Iroha, then, would be like Laguna Seca.
Tsubaki Line is kind of like the Nordschleife. Plenty of flow, but also extremely technically demanding as well as being demanding on consistency, not to mention countless blind corners that can only be mastered through repetitious experimentation.
My personal favorite though (though Akina comes close due to some stupid sentimental attatchment I have), is gonna have to be Happo - it's the most intense rally course on asphalt.

For me my reality is completely the opposite touges that you said was more technical I feel are simple and easy to drive but going fast or me trying my best to be fast on Akina is a real challenge just 1 run on Akina drains me. For me its like the Nurburgring of touges.

  • @ksweew7476
    @ksweew7476 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

for me there is no bad tracks in touge as long as you can physically drive it to the end ofc. Because unlike race tracks they were not meant for this and this means you have to addapt to the track you'r on and have to abuse it's mechanics, it's all about learning what is the track about. That's why i like touge, it's more of your relationship with the track rather than learning patterns you can apply to almost every track ...

The thing about Akina is that it works great as an INTRODUCTORY course for touge racing, as it is relatively wide and easy by touge standards, but still teaches the skills needed to master the touge (slip angle, 4-wheel drifting, engine braking, inertia drifting, gutter techniques...). Obviously once a driver learns these skills, it becomes possible to apply them to more demanding courses like Irohazaka, Momiji, Happogahara, Shomaru, Sadamine, Tsuchisaka, Tsukuba, Yabitsu, Nagao, Nanamagari, Tsubaki, etc...

Personally, for me, Touge has a different approach to the race track, a race track is exactly what you mentioned in the video, but Touge is a "chilling street" where you swing from side to side with the car, feeling the curves and listening to some music at the same time, eventually drifting/sliding or going fast in some parts

it really depends on the car you are driving on it. the nd really is boring because its stabke and predictable on the high speed sections. with the tuned 86 you are constantly in a flowing state sort of sliding but not really too much so you dont have to correct with tbe steering wheen but more with the pedals. i started out on akina i think 3 or 4 years ago and im still driving it every now and then. my best time was lousy 5:19 but for me its still the most challanging, frustrating and fun touge tracks

And you'ld think why Takumi earlier on kept telling his dad that he needs glasses was because he got soo fast on the easy course that he felt everything was slowing down and even when competition came, he beat them easily and even smashed Ryosuke and Keisuke.
Once he got to Usui Pass and battled Mako, he nearly shat his pants before composing himself and then again with Irokazaka when he was battling Ken Kagoshiwa. Heck if you think about it, nearly everywhere Takumi battled, he always nearly shat himself because those courses like the ones with Tomoyuki Tachi from Todo at Happogahara and even his final battle on the Hakone Skyline was a total twisty track with no bars for error and little overtaking space thus he panicked when getting pushed whereas on Mt.Akina, he got soo used to it and with the track being soo forgiving, he doesn't have to worry of people giving him pressure.
Also, why do I love Irohazaka? "Pulpsy". Keichii Tsuchiya. 'Nuff said.

Honestly, Akina (haruna) is both boring and fun at the same time. It offers low speed, quick cornering and long straights to build up speed again, but at the same time is littered with narrow corners that are hard to slide through. I think it's redeeming feature is the gutters (yes ik, cliche as hell but it's the only thing that really brings it's status up).

Akina is not my favourite togue (I like Usui, Akagi the most), but I disagree with difficulty point.
Due to togue characteristics it is INSTANTLY more difficult than ANY typical race track that I have driven (personal opinion), due to tricky steepness and (some) narrow corners. Executing racing lines is much more easier on typical racing track in F1 car, than in togue (including Akina) in

So to iterate on what you are saying, Akina is a perfect touge to learn the ropes? Great! Can't wait till I get all my sim stuff around March. I want something both easy and iconic to start me off, so your criticism elevates this track for me.

this is your opinion but i know other people would think the same way

    but still, nice video

In real life Usui is really boring. Because they put these massive tire shredders in the middle of the road to discourage racing. The best roads to drive in japan are unknown and outside of initial d because they don't have anti race measures. My personal favorite road to drive is called Asama Yama

Man I'm still struggling with akina to get a record I'm like 20+ secs off the fastest guys on akina with the 86. N I struggle with wataru's home course. Forget it what it's called. But touges like usui and momji I find easy. N btw I drive akina well I mainly only drive that when I'm on AC. It has got to a point I don't even go on the sim anymore. But it's cuz I'm stubborn and don't wanna go to other touges til I master akina (like takumi lol)
