The Process
---------------------
In this video, I use Photoshop to create expensive looking designs for fast food brands. As prices continue to go up at these places, their branding is going to have to match! Using the power of design, illustration, and painting, these new products will come to life.

No idea
$20-$40
i think 20 dollar tip
2:09 orange that’s orange
i bought fake jordans
The subway design looks dope, but I think it looks like a food that was packed in a factory, not freshly made in store.
I think he should have added a faded green and yellow color to the text.
subway is probably the LEAST fresh sandwich store 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah but it definitely looks more expensive
@@MCL66BABFTuh I like it
@@SpiralsEarthyou can still like it whether or not it’s fresh or not nobody’s stopping you I have had it in the past and enjoyed it
It would be SO awesome if any of these brands adopted one of these designs even just for a temporary marketing campaign. They could even pair it with some sort of artist appreciation effort 🥰🥰
that would be cool!

The first one reads less as "more expensive" and more as "Brandon Shepherd designed the packaging" LOL
Your flat, 2D designs are very distinct and recognizable
This guy gets it
I just thought the original package looked like a $0.25 taco. I'm thinking mine is at least worth a $1 🙃

@@BrandonShep Don’t listen to these haters. Your packaging looks way more premium
These brands NEED to hire Brandon
Well isn't that why his name is Brand-on /unfunny
yea nah. That subway new brand looks horrible. Disgusting even
The mcdonalds logo doesnt have the 'caution hot' on it. Bad design. One of the dots he added is way out of a place and looks horrible. M logo is wrong color and doesnt have R. These logos are bad. SO many bad details
@@scoper7897 I kinda agree with the subway one its um not my type to say the least I prefer the old one but its definitely something that is NOT bad, like I cant even do something as good as that, and the mcdonalds one its not bad like I like it but could've been better but the taco bell one was an absolute masterpiece I kinda think you went a bit extra harsh tho because you mentioned the bad sides of the logos but never the good ones.
@@scoper7897 Make something better.

Those companies should send you sponsor checks for free advertising lol

4:05 this design is GORGEOUS. the walls in their stores should look like this
5:38 Wow that’s amazing
Love the Taco Bell design, but as someone who did the pricing/cost for a very large packaging company, the printing would be a complete nightmare to complete, and would cost a significant amount of $/1000 prints. Most commercial paperboard prints can have 6, maybe 7 colors + a coating per pass, and an additional color pass nearly doubles the cost. With all of the intricate design on it, spoilage would also cut into cost. The paperboard carton for the taco would cost more than the ingredients for the taco itself.
Damn but the idea of the video make it look expensive
This channel is all about dreams, not reality 🤣
This is actually a fascinating take. So many comments here imply that brands are dropping the ball or are bad at design, when reality is the the commenters don't have the full picture. Would enjoy seeing Brandon try a "business friendly" design challenge once day and show how tough it might be.
@@leftear99 That sounds like a fantastic idea! I could easily give him some parameters that are industry standard, and see if he can make another masterpiece using those. A lot goes into packaging other than just design and material. Sometimes designs just aren't possible without specialty equipment.
@@BrandonShep hey bro plz reply i want to ask you something

how does a wrapper make you hungry
@@00_Luis I don't know, maybe cuz it has to do with food.
When designing the wrap or whatever, the company always keeps their colors in mind as it’s their identity so for example for McDonald’s whenever you see red and yellow u instantly think of McDonald’s, same for subway that is why u should keep their original logo colors
I love how Brandon's video is so simple and easy to follow.
Good job! A+ on the grammar, you must’ve studied this year.

The Subway design really reminds me of the tile art they sometimes have on the side of the counter, definitely fits the aesthetic!

It's funny you roasted Taco bell and compared it to SpongeBob, but I have to say I think your design look exactly like it's taken from SpongeBobs world 🤣 But super dope design otherwise. Love your vids man. One love!
2:40 those flags on strings are called bunting.
Maybe you should redraw book covers, next? Love your videos!
I was so stumped on why I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t feel like your design didn’t work for Taco Bell and I think I figured it out.
On the original wrapper/packaging it clarifies what the meal is or maybe what it’s like. I would had loved to see you adapt some way to present what meal your getting in your design instead of focusing in on the food your getting is Taco Bell.
Still a great design! Just my opinion ❤
7:25 my inner kendrick lamar almost let out when he said “certified”
The subway wrappers are dissing drake now 😭
You know it’s a good day when Brandon uploads 😀
I don't like the subway logo. It looks like its made in a factory, i prefer the color in the normal one.
way too much detail on the first design for such a small space. the look of the packaging takes away from the look of the food. it's distracting. 2:30 was perfect for the taco bell design
I think you're overestimating how small the taco packaging is
@@Red-jl1qr the wrapper is pretty small imo. i've had em before
@picorrow we've all had em before, they're not small enough to not be able to see any detail. It's not like phone app sized.
@@Red-jl1qr u don't understand my point anyways. regardless how big the wrapper is. there is too much detail. it detracts from the actual food you are eating. u can scale the food and the wrapper up proportionally and id still say the same thing
@@picorrow what do you mean by it distracts from the food
Do you think people aren't gonna know it's a taco or that people aren't gonna want to eat the food after seeing the cool wrapper?
Don't really know what you mean by that.
The Apple Pie Design Was SO Fire!
Your beautiful new designs emphasize how dog-doodoo the food inside is, and I'm here for that
It's impossible to express through a comment how much I enjoy and love watching your videos, even the way you edit and present them. I know the process takes a lot of time, whether it's the editing or designing part, but you nail it every time 10 out of 10. It's like the feeling of lying down in bed after a hard day. Thank you for sharing your art.
Damn, the tacobell design is my fav - you absolutely killed it, it looks dope. I love the vibrant illustrations.
You're back! Great video. Not sure we need even more expensive fast food
Your Baked Apple Pie definitely looks like something one would find in a grocery store. Nice! Great work all around! :)
Rating all:
Tacobell: 9.5/10 not perfect but looks better than the old one
Subway: 10/10
You are very creative and I really enjoy listening to your thinking process 😮
After your subway design, i couldn't see it as a sandwich fast food restaurant anymore. I still liked the illustration but im not sure it matched the company. Idk
Love the Apple Pie one. It's my favorite one
Love your videos as always. Love to see your thought process. Plz keep making more
All 3 designs look more appealing than the original to me. They look perfect!
You and Oat Jenkins should do a collab! That would be a fun watch. ❤
It allways blows me away what good designs can make for your product. after seeing this video i just would buy these things just to have the packages :D
Your AMAZING!!!! I need to know that app that you use to make my Cheese Louise Products!
6:31 LUPE FROM FERDINAND?!?!

God this makes me so hungry, and I watching this right before I’m supposed to sleep.
The Subway design is great, however, I don't know many subways out in the countryside. The Subway font is also supposed to mimic the iconic font used in the NYC subway. But the Serif does look nicer.
12:17 I am craving McDonald's now, bruh I just finished breakfast...😂😂
The calming goat from Ferdinand when he was doing subway 😂😂😂
Loved these designs! You should make a video redesigning your old novice designs. That’ll be interesting to see your experience .
i love these, i genuinely hope they actually start using them
ur actually so good at making packaging
The idea of combining the classic Taco Bell logo with elements from the new one is really nice! Definitely my favourite one here.
I'm not too crazy about the subway design. I think the brand colours are a huge part of the identity. Also it was REALLY annoying me you missed a serif on the B and S
McDonalds looks good but I feel like I'm going to find it in the frozen desserts section of an upscale supermarket.
4:04 somebody ring up Taco Bell & demand them to use this amazing work of art for their packaging!
12:21 - A small bump in price would almost be the same price as a whole apple pie at the store...lol...jk
Who likes how Brandon redesigns and rebrands
As a fellow graphic designer, this really makes me nostalgic for the days when I could do silly projects like this all the time
I'm sorry to be a critiquing nerd, but I don't think the Subway wrapper redesign would work for, well, a wrapper. You've done it before with Steamed Hams, right?
This looks more like a design for a box the sandwich would be kept in.
Also, the Taco Bell design IS better, don't get me wrong... but it feels more like Taco Bell during an event than a more expensive Taco. You'd need a more painted style like the murals you see all around a Mexican restaurant. And this is optional, but making the brand name something like "Bell de Taco" would sell the authentic (and more expensive) feeling far better.
Fortunately, the Apple Pie box looks just fine. You're still a great brand designer. Keep at it!
Totally agree! The Subway one is just a bit too complex for a wrapper.
Giving the bold curvy font serifs was an interesting choice and I like it!
These look great on screen! I’m wondering how do you prepare the files to send them off to print the packaging.
You said you were gonna do a comprehensive packaging design course by the end of 2023, but we haven’t seen anything yet. :(
6:04 I was literally eating chobani 😂😅
I am so curious to know where your inspiration comes from when coming up with a (re)design. Take this video for example: do you walk around a grocery store and take note of all the details on the packaging of healthy foods, or do you just come up with it at the spot? You always nail it! 🤠✨
It doesn’t matter how bad of a day I’m having, whenever Brandon posts it becomes the best day ever!
The subway design reminds me of the paintings and photos of fresh veggies that used to be In subway
Those exact veggies & cheese are literally the design of my local subways wall. 😂
What in the Willy Wonka is that Taco Bell packaging. Love it tho!!
That McDonald's one is gold bro, really good design.
Woah your work is amazing, all if them look beautifully done and are making me real hungry. But that McDonalds one is just something else, idk what it is about it but its really sticking out to me, like its calling me... Its just so phenomenally done, i love it! 💖
I love the taco bell design since it looks like an anniversary special taco because of all the party and festival items and look

You already know that the next video must be: "I Rebranded Expensive Foods to Look Affordable". Make it happen, Brandon!
1:45 I’m noticing the waves on the left side already kind of look like a bell, it might be cool to incorporate the logo into that somehow
OH MY GOSH, I know exactly what your next video should be now!!
REVISE YOUR OLD DESIGNS ^w^
While I like the Subway design you made, I think the thing that was neglected was how this is going to be used. Those wraps are folded around all different size sandwiches from thicker with more ingredients to 6 inch subs. Your design would be very difficult to get centered every time and look good. And while Subway does use stickers to hold the wrap closed, I don't see why they would put an additional sticker randomly on the font every time. Things to think about when creating: "How is it going to be used?"
Apple pie was definitely my favorite. You have it a really premium look/feel
I think the Taco Bell is really cool! I would have made th text curve with the shape of the taco but yours is much better 😂 I love this ! Keep up the Great work ! :)
This guy makes designing look easy
You made your video called "I Rebranded Fast Food to Look Expensive"? Good job, Mr. Brandon Shepherd, sir! You're amazing! Could you make a video called "I Made The Mountain Dew Soda Products Similar In Flavor To The Differently-Flavored Dr. Pepper Soda Products"?
