Great video, you're a really talented graphic designer. Incidentally, the reason that the Energizer bunny has a drum is because it was introduced in the 1980s as a toy rabbit beating a drum (powered by Energizer batteries of course) that never stopped because the batteries were so good. They did a series of commercials where there would be fake products being advertised and then the Energizer bunny would suddenly walk through the fake commercial beating his drum with narration "He keeps going...and going...and going."

7:45 The reason the green Skittle is getting special treatment in the official packaging is because the original Skittles flavors in the US (and other countries except for Europe) were orange, lemon, lime, grape, and strawberry. In 2013, Skittles changed its original flavor line-up and replaced the lime one to green apple, causing a consumer backlash. So they recently went back and needed to notify consumers with this particular packaging that its the original "lime-up", and not green apple.
Yeah in the uk it never changed and has always been lime but our purple one in Europe is blackcurrant instead of grape which I personally think is so so so much nicer

I love love love this series man!! Coming from a graphic design background, I've been craving good graphic design content like this! It's so enjoyable and educational!! Always more tricks to learn!!
I think the original Lay's package design is already well thought out. It's way easier for consumers to glance over the shelves and spot a familiar design that they associate with their favourite flavour. Having it signified simply by the color and a piece of text would be a bad design choice. There simply aren't enough colors for every flavour they may produce, and reading text quickly becomes annoying and kicks the consumer out of the impulse of buying a treat. (also there are color blind people)
You have to THINK about it on the shelf with 100 other energy drinks. The RedBull one was designed to pop out of the crowd, the new one will fade away.
I think I would have put a yellow circle behind the bull, like the one on the original design, just to break up the silver. But I'm half sure that if I saw it done, I'd probably change my mind 😅

I see the vision behind all of your designs and some of them are absolutely brilliant. That being said I'm not feeling the Red Bull redesign. I think the image of two bulls charging at each other actually suits an energy drink perfectly and can also (maybe) be reimagined as two wings. The blue and white background subtly extend the concepts from that image to the rest of the can. The sun is also great symbolism and rounds out the color palette well. The entire design reminds me of race cars or fuel cans which nicely represents the brand both literally and symbolically. I even think it tastes like gasoline. I'm really not getting much from a stationary bull head on a plain white background. Your design feels too still. The lightning bolt is kinda telling without showing if you know what I mean. I know you don't pitch these redesigns as what the original should actually look like, but I find most of them successful and this one feels like a bit of an outlier.
The point in having your image and text wide on a can is that you watch it from several angles. It makes little sense to stack the words red and bull on top of each other unless the can is 2 dimensional
The thing about the original designs is they look more classic/old, which implies the product is more "tried & true"; which is trustworthy, reliable, and therefore a safe option to buy. LOVE the Lays redesign so much though, and all of these are great work.
