If only current artists were this interesting, talented, or innovative what a wonderful world it would be.

Couldn't agree more, I used to think of their chorus aswell as PJ's whenever I had this song in my head, now I know why.

At her best, loved it so much when it came out, the thought of having such a clever, beautiful and talented artist like her in my growing record collection was too tempting for a lad of 16, still play it today on vinyl and still wowwed.

One of her great songs. Love "the dancer" and "send his love to me". Seeing her playing last december turned me into a fan. Now i have all her albums! It seems that she's one of those musicians people either really love or really hate and no in between. Kinda like Dylan.
She's how I'd imagine a Greek Goddess... Aphrodite!

this one is from the album called "DRY"
i think it was back in 91'
then there was the excellent album called "rid of me" (92?),then "to bring you my love" in 95'
and then the "is this desire?" was released.
oup,i forgot the "4-track demo" that was released in 92'

@ TheBlueschahaafe- its all about personal preference which you like the best and what mood you're in. I honestly could not pick a favourite they are all awesome but i would start with either Is This Desire or Stories from the city, stories from the sea. The stories.. one for sure is the most accessable. But yeah all equally rock

THESE MUSICAL PRIMITIVES MAKE EXCITING USE OF DYNAMICS AND TWISTED ARRANGEMENTS. HARVEY COMMANDS ATTENTION: SHE CUNNINGLY MIXES SENSUALITY AND FEMINIST AWARENESS IN CONVERSATIONAL HOOKS. AN AIR OF DEJA VU ALSO WAFTS AROUND THE ALBUM; NOT A SINGLE ANGRY RIFF, RAW MELODY OR THORNY LYRIC ON IT WOULD HAVE SURPRISED POST PUNK TREND SPOTTERS BACK IN 1981.

I don't see this annoying comparison with Patti Smith. Seems like a lot of peeps just parroting what they've seen or read somewhere. PJ has far more variety in her music, and her voice sounds nothing like Patti's. Furthermore Patti tended to indulge in long improvisations of songs lasting several minutes. PJ's songs even when performed live hardly last much over 4 minutes. She rarely allows a guitar solo in a song.So where's the similarity?
