This episode we are back home at Haulover Inlet. Who will take the win this week between Haulover Inlet and the Boats?

That chick holding her phone above her head as she sinks below the waves...that might be the funniest thing I’ve seen so far this year. “How will I Instagrammmmm........” *never resurfaces*
She was signalling the jetski as she only lifted it above the water once she spotted the jetski
The phone then goes straight back in the water whilst she's reaching for the jetski, if her main goal was to keep the phone out of the water then she did a terrible job at it so we can safely assume it wasn't her main intent
She is a good swimmer, she obviously wasn't scared of drowning despite the huge waves. And it's probably a waterproof smartphone, that's why she still keeping it and was handling it over the bow of the boat despite the huge waves. And as mentioned by the previous comment, she signaling the jetski. Nothing funny about this teen, on the contrary, I'm very impressed.

To be fair, extending a hand up as high as possible in a boatway is a good safety move. You can't count on anybody else even knowing you are there. The phone was not the primary concern, but on the other hand, why drop it? I will say that phones should be stowed in that situation and everybody should be holding on with both hands. If that was the case, she never would have gone in the water in the first place. Databyter
@@Databyter honestly the smartest move a person can make is holding an object that’s reflective in the light above a body of water, the phone is easier to spot than just waving your hands
People acting like what she did was smart. She was only thinking of saving her phone not being more noticeable. She risked drowning to save her phone. It’s the first thing she did when the jet ski arrived. It took several more tries for that guy to get her on. Unbelievable!

Raised my hand high as possible to mark my position and hope I didn't get run over. And if I had to do it with a phone in my hand, and could without drowning, I would. That boat has a rear swim step with a boarding ladder which can be extended down into the water. The young woman is plenty agile enough to scamper up it and back into the boat. She was more concerned about keeping her cell phone dry than almost anything else.
@@americanrambler4972 I've climbed aboard my 23' boat before in swells/surf much smaller than what they have here, and let me tell you its a bit scary when you're behind the boat looking up at it and its bobbing 3-4 ft up and down. Wouldn't hard to end up underneath the swim platform with boat on top of you.
Chad True enough. You and the boat are moving around a lot in those conditions and it’s intimidating to see that massive swim step heaving and moving around so close, but the agility of youth goes a long way.

@@Lestat3721 Yes, she was trying to be as visable as possible with her hand extended as far as possible. The phone just happened to already be in her hand, and why let it go. Most phones are waterproof for a short time anyway. She didn't need to hold it that high to save it. She was signalling with it. Truth, the Phone should have been stowed for the inlet, and the hands should have both been free and holding on. Then she wouldn't have gone in in the first place. Databyter
Yes, she’s a IG “influencer”. This video was posted on instagram a few months back. I got into an argument with the girl. I told she was dumb for sitting up front in rough waters. She came at me with “I’m living the best of my life” crap. 🙄

@@jermjerm3183 Not really. What most people don't realize is that you should bath the water resistant phone in fresh water after a saltwater exposure. The salt can build up on seals as it dries, especially with repeated exposures, and cause them to no longer be pliable, also salt can corrode various materials much faster than water alone. So a water resistant phone that is immersed in saltwater certainly is facing some bad outcomes, 90% of which can be solved by simply giving the phone a freshwater bath to remove the salt, and then allowing it to dry. Of course if your phone is low quality or has been dropped too many times and is damaged or cracked, water will possibly get in thru that damage, but a quality and newer phone in good condition, which is most of us, should be able to withstand saltwater immersion for a few moments. Just make sure you immediately rinse it off with fresh water, especially around the speakers, microphones, and charging ports. If you are on a boat just use bottled water, but Id still fully immerse it in fresh water in your sink when you get home, and gently move it around for a few moments to make sure you rinse all the salt contamination out. Now your seals will be preserved, and your exposed metals will not start an unstoppable corrosion cycle. Databyter

@@astark22 i was being dramatic but the other person i guarantee would never have gotten to her that current is insane aswell as the waves with no safety you are going to have to fight to stay above the water much less go forward also that huge boat would take at least like 5-10 minutes to turn around and pick her up.

That girl was flushed out of the front cockpit by the force and volume of water that came over the bow. As well as some garment that immediately proceeded her exit. She was lucky in so many ways that could have gone the other way in a flash. Thank goodness for her good fortune. The slow motion really showed what happened to her. It looked to me, that was sitting or laying on the seat in the cockpit. She definitely was not sitting on the edge or the rail before she went out.

That garment looked like an inflatable life jacket. Sort of surprised to see it on that boat would have expected they did the minimum with the old square foam jackets.
I don’t think she was protecting her phone....anytime you end up in the water like that (like falling skiing), you’re supposed to throw at least 1 arm up so other boats have a better chance to see you instead of bowling over you. She would have been idiotic to not have a hand in the air. The truly impressive thing is that it was still in her hand AT ALL at this point LOL.
This is the one i think tops your newest video of haulover inlet history!! This girl is unbelievable. But really it comes down to the captain/owner of the boat, to make the decision to go for it or not regardless of the conditions of the seas and lives of the other on your boat. In a way, people that go out in conditions as these and worse for the thrill and game of being on camera, is like the saying that people love to hate ( guns dont kill people, dumb/non trained people with guns kill people!) ignorant new/naïve boaters go out in for fun in things likes this. Fishing captains and true boaters know how to handle this.
What the little mermaid doesn't realize is that once you drown a phone, you can't get it any wetter!! I've watched a lot of these vids and it's finally great to hear someone voice how moronic a great deal of these people really are.

You can't fully appreciate the danger until you are pulling a lifeless body out of the water. I only spent 3 years at a lifeboat station out of 20 years of service in the Coast Guard and you learn one things for the ocean, especially the tidal inlets - respect. Serious respect. You have tides that cause serious churning and whirlpools in the water currents. Please keep the children off the bow and in the back of the boat. PLEASE! I know they will beg "Please let me ride up front, dad, please!" Just say no and let them be mad at you. Better mad than dead.
