I am so glad they make the beastmen. They been neglected for too long. The galaxy is full of mutants and abhumans. It is time that they have their time to shine.
Massive Crit, thanks for this video on the newest Kill Team box. I always appreciate your commentary and insights. Leagues of Votann and Beastmen both seem like fun factions to me. You mentioned that you were hoping for maybe a Fallen space marine kill team. I think that would be amazing. I'm not much interested in collecting space marines myself, I prefer all the more "mere mortals" factions and groups in the 41st millennium. The Fallen however are an interesting and intriquing bit of lore which I think would work amazing as a kill team. GW has tried to keep them mysterious and unknown, but I feel that presently they just feel undefined. I think they have a lot of potential for the exploration and development that would come from GW making them into a new Kill Team faction, with amazing new models of course. I'm not in love with the Leagues of Votann as a faction myself. That said, I think GW did a good job of reworking them from their original incarnation as angry space dwarf bikers. Not that I had anything against the old Squats, but I think their reincarnation as the Leagues of Votann expands and enriches the 40K setting as a whole. Your fellow TH-camr Arbitor Ian, has a video where he speculates that 40K needs to detail some 'good guy' groups in the setting that aren't xenophobic overzealous fascists who regard ignorance as a virtue. I think the Leagues offer something in that direction. I digress. I think your plan to convert the League kill team into pirates is a great idea. I think you could add a lot of character to the models with such conversions. I was impressed and inspired by your Blooded conversions. Great work that. I hope we get to see a video like that for your forthcoming swashbuckling squats! When I heard the rumors that the next Kill Team Gallowdark box would include a team of beastmen I was both excited and wary. Beastmen are an iconic menace in the GW multiverse, their artwork and miniatures in Warhammer Fantasy have always been inspiring. To me, nothing says fierce and brutal like a group of beastmen. My thought about the potential for a beastman kill team is similar to your concerns about the melee-only nature of this new time. Also, I struggle to see how 10 or so beastmen with no special weapon gunners can stand against a half dozen astartes. I'm thinking the beastmen kill team will operate much like the Blooded, except they will double down on pure hand-to-hand combat (okay, I did see at least one autopistol). Still, rule of cool, I will happily play beastmen even if they turn out to be a weak and limited team. I value fun game play over winning any day. I think you are right that they will be on 32mm bases. Blackstone Fortress came with four beastmen minis and they are on 32mm bases. In the video you speculate on which chaos powers each beastman might follow or serve. My thought is that they are more Chaos Undivided in nature, I guess we will see. As an aside, I have been wanting to convert a kill team of misshapen mutants. I was trying to figure out what Kill Team faction I might run them as to 'count-as.' Orks mabye? But I think that the new beastmen faction might be the way to go. Ideally, I will build a kill team of actual beastmen and another team of grotesque mutant twists which will count-as beastmen. Your idea for hive spire type terrain for Kill Team sounds great. Maybe some combination of multi-level Necromunda terrain mixed with Zone Mechanicus terrain would be a good starting point.
Hi Scavvon thanks for the encouragement chap I appreciate it :). I do prefer the human factions myself though I have a soft spot for all things chaos and dark angel. I think some official fallen models from GW would be sweet! Yeah I'm with you on the votan, I remember when the tau came out... This super advanced race that just popped up out of nowhere all of a sudden. GW did create a back story that "explains" why they managed to get so advanced so quickly without being discovered and I suppose the votan just reminds me of then. I wanted to see an up and coming faction that perhaps had the technology to create advanced tech but not the resources hence why they were venturing out into the wider galaxy. I wanted the votan to look more like the Kharadron Overlords from AOS instead of another tried and tested space suit wearing race. Hopefully the conversions will be successful and thank you I'm pretty happy with the way the blooded turned out! I haven't heard of Arbitor Ian before but I'll be sure to check him out. I agree with him about the squats being a good race and how we need that in the setting to give perspective on the grim dark. Your Mutant idea is very cool, it could work with orks or beastmen or perhaps gellerpox? I love a hoard of rambling mutant/zombies! I think the beastmen could be cool they just don't scream special ops to me? but then again a few teams now are in the same boat. I would find beastmen fun to play and who knows maybe they will have a Strat like hand of the archeon that gives them super conceal in their deployment zone? time will tell, thanks for watching chap 👍

Fair enough 👍
