Their background is snowmobiles. They know belts. I'm not sure if I would want a true transmission. More weight etc. However, I know others like you that would prefer a true transmission. I imagine Yamaha or Honda will step up to the challenge and try to knock these top dogs off the podium soon enough. I would pick Honda to be the first. I personally think the Yamaha is butt ugly and lacking in the game. But hey, they started the "rebirth" of the 4stroke motocross bike sooooo I wouldn't count them out.
SImple, as many dont understand it, the CVT is the most efficent to convert engine power to rear wheels. It is so efficent it has been banned in Formula 1. There is the same loss from crank to rear wheels as any other driveline. The advantages are like no other, always in the right gear with the right power for the situation.
M K while Williams F1 CVT was a pretty awesome feat making his Car faster than the gearboxes in other F1 cars it’s isn’t a direct comparison to the CVT used in snowmobiles and SXS. Metal belts used in Car CVTs are much more efficient and durable. Sxs belts will lose efficiency and wear out causing a drop in HP. Then of course belt braking, slippage when getting wet and overheating. turbo’d YXZ1000r and Honda Talons gear boxes which have about a 15% loss in HP vs 25-30% Mav/RZR CVT puts them pretty close. When comparing HP vs Gearbox/CVT hp loss. When you’re talking what power gets to the wheels. (I know what the company’s engineers say is power loss but multiple out side people have dyno the Mav/Rzr reported those numbers above) I agree perfectly tuned and maintained CVT will get power converted to the wheels faster, do to not having to cycle through gears but the Achilles’ heel in SXS CVT is the belt it’s self.
Great choice! They are legitimately awesome machines. Unfortunately for many, the CanAm vs Polaris debate is like Ford vs Chevy. Loyalty is awesome but some times it prevents people from recognizing awesome when they see it. -Joe
I think it's about time that Polaris re invent a new rzr! and I think they answered back to canam in a great way! I love the new rzr looks and interior design and capabilities! those new shocks that adjust based on turning and body roll sounds amazing! i to my hat to canam for the performance levels and having pushed Polaris! once they give the interior a refresh I think they are both more than 75% of us riders could ask for 👍👍
Rzr. Suspension upgrade with the smart technology was installed to keep the rzr from rolling over. Top heavy compared to the X3. Plus , just looks alone puts the Can am in my garage Polaris needs a complete body redesign. I M O. 😉
Great information! I have a 2019 RZR trail & my son has a 2017 570 trail & this machine is unbelievable! I have always for Polaris to be more stable & be more of a trail drivers machine than Can Am
I love what you said in the end there...Price vs value is the question. Unfortunately plenty of people will pay the $32K which means they will keep raising the price. The rest of us working stiffs with mortgages and children to squeeze us dry will have to wait until 2020 Fall and the End of The Season Sales... Every time they come out with a new model that is totally different we have to pay for all the re-tooling, R&D, new body styles and all. That's where the higher prices come from.
Can am won hands down , better suspension and better motot. Polaris is still a 2 cylinder so its prob maxed out the triple in can am can make some serious power, the suspension is a true dual rate on the can am and Polaris still uses those awful awful springs . They need to do more to catch can am .im a polaris guy but if im getting a new rig today im going can am plus and final the can am is cheaper then the fully loaded polaris
True. I failed to mention price in the video. $25k MSRP vs $28.5k MSRP for the XP PRO. Polaris is betting their innovation is worth an extra $3,500. - Joe
All-IN Offroad from the factory can-am won, but what owner keeps their rig stock? Everyone I know that has a SxS has enhanced the engine or suspension so really the only thing that matter is which one you like more via looks and feel.
Not even close, the can am machine last much longer , has a kick ass suspension and the 4wd system is 2nd to none. When riding with my rzr boys I constantly am stopping to help fix something. After 10 years of running can am utv and never had a trail failure even at the dunes
Reid Harris I’m all about performance. It matters to me. I have a deposit on a Black 2020 MAVERICK X3 X RS TURBO RR and will most likely buy one Monday. I’m a performance guy. I own a 2019 raptor supercrew, 2019 mustang gt pp1, etc. I want to mod it and upgrade it so that I can win races at the dunes. That’s my main concern. I just saw a bunch of videos of peopling popping wheelies with modded Yamaha yxz 1000Rs. Is the Yamaha yxz faster than the can am maverick x3 x RS turbo rr?! I don’t care for price to performance. I’m trying to race uphill and straigaways at the dunes.
My money is on the February launch we will likely see a 72" RZR Pro S with 196HP. I think manufacturers want to stay below that 200HP number so we can continue to insure these beasts.
I just found this video i realize its 3 yrs old already but i had a Maverick X3 it was a 2017 I believe with 150 some hp stock. I now have a 2021 RZR Pro Ultimate and i love the creature comforts which is what drew me to it! The X3 maybe faster but the polaris is like the denali of trucks, so much nicer all around minus the hp. So since most of these comments i been reading are older, i see so many rip polaris for not building hp, what do these same people have to say now that polaris has the Pro R out and can am is still under 200hp? I love both brands and if can am had the same interior as polaris it would’ve been a real tough choice, but for now it is pretty simple.
I'm going with the Polaris pro ultimate, I had the Turbo S 2018 sold it with 5700 miles on it and very satisfied with it and they say this is better ok I'll try it and let you know good or bad.
Let's us know what you think! Regardless of people's thoughts on the looks, the improvements they made are impressive! A few of the built XP pro's I've seen look awesome! -Joe
None of these manufacturers are taking into consideration that trail systems are limiting width and weight of machines allowed to ride on them. Speed is also becoming a factor. Having engines that are making optimum horsepower at 50mph may be fine in the desert, but misses the mark in the northeast where you have tight technical trails or speed limits. Getting a speeding ticket off-road is a reality these days. Not being able to tap into that horsepower at lower speeds is kinda a bummer.
@@alexmccamy6808 You need to buy an ATV a side-by-side that is suited for your driving technique you get the high speed bottle for your all out driving in the desert high speed trails and you get the Yamaha Wolverine or something of that type for your trail riding I like your complaints

We don't have a new Xp Pro in our group but I gotta admit I like the new canams. But, I have seen some common failures. They have more travel, but seem to have weak a-arms and front of the frame. So you can replace the arms but then your at risk of destroying the frame? The tubing appears to be pretty thin. Seen several break, although I have seen RzR break too, I have seen Canams frames crumple kinda easy and even break in 1/2. Otherwise I think Canam would easily be the way to go. My Xp1000 has too much tied up in it to buy a new machine right now, so I just gotta be the slow guy for a while.
@@DerangedOffRoad thats 90% of my riding :P Last trip even lower model turbo canams with stock tires were able to go places I can't go with Skat track sand tires... G-outs then steep climbs, their suspension and turbos really help. We ride hard and I see lots of stuff break.
Joey Holthusen My neighbor just bought a talon 1000R and I must say, it is very impressive. Nothing like a turbo x3 but still a blast. As for Polaris, I’d rather drive a yugo. They’re much more dependable

@@anthonykimpan3542 NO, actual suspension travel is measured from the bottom of the tire to the skid, Because that is where the cam am hit before they use all their suspension. Everyone who has a x3 and is honest about it knows this happens, so their 24 inches is actually 22..

Really, how much more power do you need? I like the improvements Polaris is making, they are certainly changing the industry and setting new bars. However, I think the price is getting ridiculous and outpacing the value in which they are bringing. But the cost is 'supply and demand' driven so it wont change until people stop buying.
Exactly what I'm thinking brother! If they would have gotten rid of the the 1000 XP and XP turbo with this roll out, you'd start seeing a lot less Polaris on the trail. Rolling out a separate new model rather than replacing one with a far more expensive one protects their market share. -Joe
I thought the same thing. For trailing. You definitely don’t need more power. But if you go to the dunes. You definitely need more power. I just bought a 2019 can am x3 max XRS 172 hp. Can-am is made in Mexico, the factory is literally 4 miles from the USA tho. It’s on the border. And is no one going to talk about Polaris having a factory, in Mexico ? Because they do have a factory there. Also the machinery used to build Can-am’s, is actually from québéc, Canada they just shipped it there. Literally 4 miles away from the USA, you can look into American city’s in New Mexico if you’re at the factory

Not according to the spec sheets straight from the canam website. We are comparing the X DS 64" machine, not the x RS 72" machine. can-am.brp.com/content/dam/canam-offroad/Global/MY2020/Documents/Comparison-Sheets/MY20_Maverick_X3_X_DS_Turbo-RR.pdf Also we are not pro Polaris, we actually love Can Am and one of us owns a Defender. We own three different makes of UTVs and will probably have an x3 one day as well.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, but in the description below it states we are comparing only the 64” model since it compares best with the 64” Polaris XP Pro. Also about 30 seconds into the video it states the two machines we are comparing. We just felt that it would be best to only compare two machines that were more identical. If Polaris comes out with a 72” model we can compare those two. -Garrett
I believe Polaris released their first four wheeler in 84 (Total POS) as was pretty much every other ATV they released there after. Not to mention that monstrosity of a three wheeler thing they built. WTF was that? Then they built the first ever Sport UTV RZR800 in 08. Smart move obviously, Which was just another under engineered poorly thought out Polaris POS desin. But hey, why should they address design flaws if people are willing to buy junk? I'll admit though, I'm glad to see they've done what they should've done years ago and finally build a better quality product. I guess better late than never considering their history building snowmobiles. one would think they'd taken more pride in perfecting their ATV products. With that being said, This is why I call Polaris the Harley Davidsons of ATV's
Haven't owned a SxS (yet) mainly because no one makes the one I really want but I've had several 4x4 ATVs and the best ones have always been the Polaris Sportsman's. I know most people go with the RZRs for hardcore riding but to me they are just flat out Butt Ugly more appropriately FUGLY, they look like a Box with wheels. If Can-Am were to make a Single Seat 64" Maverick with the motor from a X3 RR and put a Real transmission "DCT" w/paddle shifters I'd be all over it!!! I'd even take the Yamaha if they pumped up the stock horsepower to the 185+ range. Get a clue Polaris and Can-Am BELTS (CTV) ARE for holding up your britches and NOT FOR Transmissions!!!

@@wraith511802003 Getting people to understand this is nearly impossible.
Stephen Toombs Too many out there don’t want to multitask. It’s way easier to drive a cvt
(I know what the company’s engineers say is power loss but multiple out side people have dyno the Mav/Rzr reported those numbers above)
I agree perfectly tuned and maintained CVT will get power converted to the wheels faster, do to not having to cycle through gears but the Achilles’ heel in SXS CVT is the belt it’s self.

I love the new rzr looks and interior design and capabilities! those new shocks that adjust based on turning and body roll sounds amazing!
i to my hat to canam for the performance levels and having pushed Polaris! once they give the interior a refresh I think they are both more than 75% of us riders could ask for 👍👍
The pro looks ugly
Thanks for watching! -Garrett
I compared the two and purchased ............yes, the XP PRO. Sorry CANAM you cant touch this. And yes it was more expensive.
The XP Pro is sweet!
Should have bought the CAN AM Polaris is going to have tons of recalls but I guess if you Don't mind it being in the shop half the time.
I chose the can am lol

Xp pro is the clear winner. Yes it's slower but it is a technological leap over the X3. But for me I'll take an Xrs rr. Best duner out there
Not even close, the can am machine last much longer , has a kick ass suspension and the 4wd system is 2nd to none. When riding with my rzr boys I constantly am stopping to help fix something. After 10 years of running can am utv and never had a trail failure even at the dunes

I wonder when they are going to come out with a 72" xp pro
I’m sure we will see that and with Can Am already having it out, I think Polaris would have to. -Garrett
ya makes sense. hey nice vid
Hopefully a non condom drive 72 inch with a three cylinder will be released in the spring. Until then I am keeping my X3.
64" is ideal to have where I ride
You bring up some good points. -Garrett

Smart move obviously, Which was just another under engineered poorly thought out Polaris POS desin. But hey, why should they address design flaws if people are willing to buy junk? I'll admit though, I'm glad to see they've done what they should've done years ago and finally build a better quality product.
