You should build a temporary shelter in front of your caravan so you can leave your boots outside and dry your dog off etc plus even when it’s raining you still have an extra dry place you can sit out in, plus you can always repurpose the structure once you move into your tiny home.
I thought the same, a boot room to prevent you from stepping in your new home with muddy boots. Brilliant idea. Even a covered area would work, doesn't have to be anything substantial (yet) lol
A good idea indeed... I think a cheap plastic garden shed or something that can be put up quickly. Then the shed could later be used elsewhere on the property. Extra tough plastic could be draped over and weighted/tacked/down on the new home framing temporarily keeping rain out, less water pooling inside causing any damage. Nice work so far with the green house - garden construction. Good to know the sawmill people are helping with pro ideas/planing. (Fingers crossed lots of sunshine returns soon!)
One cheap and easy fix for your cabin flood situation is builders plastic sheeting. It comes in 3m x 6m rolls. Wrap the entire structure, or just the roof in it.
i would put a tarp over it to keep out the rain a blue tarp here in usa is sold at every store for building they come as big as you need they work great see about trying that if you do it right you can work under it and stay dry keep up the good attitude youll get to the finish line soon
@@CampOutWest I live in the North East of the UK. Nothing wrong with the budget big blue tarps. Very cheap from ebay and Amazon Ive had one as a temporary roof for my 10ft x 10ft shed for the last 5 years.
The weather has been a STRUGGLE and caused us some delays but we're back🎉 here's hoping we have some dryer days coming our way so we can get this off-grid build underway 🥳
You should get aload of us subscribers to travel up in summer and come and help for free I would come and help for a fue days or so no problem I go to wales every end of every year to get mushrooms anyway
Excellent video thanks but (just for info.) the audio level is way lower than that of other channels. Even with headphones I had to set the volume almost to maximum and remember to wind it down before switching to another video to avoid deafening myself. But good work!
Rough until the new build is weather tight. You’ll get through it and better days will come. “Smile when it’s raining” can help release endorphins and improve mood.
your such a refreshing distraction from the problems we are having in the uk at the moment, you are having the life we are all dreaming of , keep it up you are brilliant
You guys are incredible, not only are you running your own businesses, you’re building your own home, learning, growing, filming, editing, and somehow hopefully finding some time to relax amongst all of that , I love your channel and what you are doing, and even though you’re finding it hard at the moment, you’ll watch this back in the summer and realise it was all worth it , much love Matty
Please don't give up! This is my 11th year off-grid, it was easier for me because before I moved here, I was homeless! Even so, we had no running water or electricity for the first 6 months, which was rough. It was so nice to finally have electricity again after that, and water in the taps as well! God Bless, and keep up the good work!
@@TimLallemant Yes, I have a solar generator and inverter which converts to 240v supply, and my own water tower that gravity feeds water to my house. This was a very common method of having a water supply in my country (Australia) in the early days and a lot of older rural properties still have a water tower. It works just as well now as it did when this house was built, 40 years ago, and the advantage with an off grid system is that the electric water pump only needs to be run once a week. Water is collected in a large water tank from my roof and although I live in a semi-arid area (average rainfall of 400mm), and sometimes have no rain whatsoever for five months over Summer, I have never run out of domestic water, in this time. I have 40,000 litres of storage and allocate myself 1000 litres per week.
@@gazpitchy off grid is kind of an umbrella term. For me, it means I have no cables or pipes connecting me to the outside world. I have tanks of water, solar panels, a 4G modem, and I burn wood.
@@gazpitchy Exactly...no such thing as "Off Grid" just less dependent on direct services. Being truly "Off Grid" would mean living in a hut made out of whatever lies nearby eating whatever you could scavenge from the land around you and spending all your time trying to stay alive
Always remember that water is life especially when you are going to grow your own food. What the ground absorbs now will only be a few feet down so the roots of your plants will have good access all summer. It indeed feels miserable now, but this part is the hardest you will have. Once you have a cosy, dry home and exterior spaces for changing wet boots etc life will seem much easier. Keep faith in yourselves and good luck.
Thank you! You are so right 🙌we want to get the drive and paths redone on the land soon and have new tarmac layed. Very excited to not be constantly covered in mud 🤣
Hello Emily and Jon. You are both to be admired for your creativity and hard work. Despite cold and rainy conditions you are sticking to it. Please take a moment to enjoy yourself. Joe.
Thanks Joe. We actually booked a night away in a airbnb yesterday and it was heaven! Indoor shower and even a washing machine and tumble drying so we could have our laundry too! Bliss 😄
@@CampOutWest good morning Emily. That sounds outstanding and certainly well deserved. I live on the Atlantic coast of the US in New Jersey at the bitter southern point in Cape May. Delightful but crowded with vacationers during warm days but considerably windy and rainy during hurricane season. Today for example, it’s cold and rainy. Whereas yesterday it was 24’ F in the morning but with the sun shining got up to 45’F. I spent the first two weeks last January last January in Paris with some colder weather and 5 weeks backpacking around Brittany and Normandy in September and October as well. I prefer the winter in France because crowds are at a minimum and the weather is overall acceptable. I’ve never been to Wales but would like to visit Cornwall and Yorkshire. All best to you and Jon, Joe.
What hard workers you both are. Must be difficult not to get a bit down with all this rain. You are doing so well. How awesome is Bear! Gorgeous boy. Cuddles for Maggie, she's beautiful. 😊
When it dries up the first thing I suggest is that you guys clean up the site get rid of all the rubbish all the trash and the unnecessary things that are laying around you can’t properly work and think in a cluttered environment you work better and clean spaces it’s a fact But keep up the good work and don’t give up
Thanks Angel :) we agree! Some of the footage at the start of this video showed the mess from last year in the rain when we were breakdown down the caravans, it's actually the best it's ever looked . We try and do a big tidy most weeks, as the land just had endless rubbish left on it. We did two big trips the the recycling centre last week which was the most stratifying feeling. We also want to get the land re-tarmac'd so hopping that will make a big change too 🤞
It's not only Wales that's had rain ! I live in a Park Home, 30ft from the River Avon in the Cotswolds. Four days into the New year we had to evacuate, as the park was under water, when the river burst its banks and become a raging torrent. The homes are anchored to a concrete base on a cantilever system with Flotation devices, whilst these were not triggered this time, it was still horrible to see the mess that was caused by the floods. This winter and last was just so much rain, it's ridiculous. Whilst living beside the river is glorious, peaceful with the wildlife, narrowboats etc, in winters like these, you do start to question wether it's worthwhile ! Good luck with your build !👍👌
Relishing natural adversities is key to enjoying off-grid life. Each challenge strengthens mind and body, fostering resiliency few people will ever know.
You're not off grid you are on the internet and supplied with food goods and services by a billion people who are very much On Grid so you can play at being "disconnected" when you really arent.
What an amazing couple you are. Every video shows us that you're so bloody clever. If we get just a small sprinkle of rain that's a signal for me to come inside and watch TV all day. Well done to you both.
With all the bad weather you get in Wales, you should build add an enclosed porch to your tiny house. You could keep shoes and firewood in there, hang up wet raincoats and grow some seeds in Spring. You could even add it on both side. One as a screened in porch for outdoor entertainment and the other side as a mud/storage room. I’ve seen someone build two tiny houses. They build an atrium in between to connect both units.
Oh love the idea of an enclosed porch! Not sure if we would be aloud to do that with our planning permission but I will do some research. Thanks so much for the suggestion
Those roof trusses look pretty substantial. It will be great to get your tiny home roofed and walls up just to get the weather of your base. It has been so wet this winter . Like your greenhouse . You'll be putting seeds in it in no time.
Thanks Jay! We are hopping we can get the roof on next week 🤞 tomorrow we are planting our first seeds of the year in the greenhouse too! Very excited 🥰
2:18 why not drill some holes in the floor in strategic spots and later on you can either plug them or fit grating over to make floor vents which is what caravans have
One more step nearer! I agree with your other follower about a porch too as itll make a huge difference to keeping your living space cleaner and neater and have room for parcel deliveries in the future x
Thanks Sarah 🥰 we are so excited for what's next! We did have an awning that came with our caravan but due to the strong winds we get, being on top of hill nothing lasts very long here 😅
Hi guys. Good to see you. Wow, that’s a lot of rain. Glad you considered the wind when building the new green house. Also, great decision with the trusses. Looking forward to more progress. Keep well you guys, and doggy.
You poor poor things. I can’t imagine how discouraging all that wet and gloom could be. Good thing you have your joyful doggo and indomitable spirits. Glad to see the roof arrive so you can start protecting all your hard work. We’re with you ❤
I'm so glad to see you're both okay! I was getting really worried something really bad had happened to you both. I really hope the weather improves and you're able to get more done :) This channel is honestly my happy place and I get so excited every time you upload :)
Most people I see who build these trailers/house on wheels, do them under a poll barn with a tarp or rent a warehouse or garage until the roof and walls are installed. I'm concerned the water has leaked into the insulation at the bottom of your trailer.
We would have loved to build it in a warehouse etc, sadly there wasn't anything available locally for us to be able to do that. So far the floor is still water tight 🤞 and we will be using dehumidifiers once we get the building watertight to take out any moisture remaining. fingers crossed that will help 🤞
Its totally amazing watching the pair of you building your dream home & business, specially with our great welsh weather we are having in 2024 - rain rain and yes more rain. Been following your journey from the start & you've come a massive way from the derelict group you started with.. Good Luck in your future
Thanks so much for the support Homer. We are so glad we decided to document this project as it's amazing being able to look back at our land since we first moved on!
KOOL VID ON THE TRUSS BUILD, AND WHAT A SHNAZZY GREENHOUSE ALL MODULAR TO MOVE ANYWHERE IN THE FUTURE. WELL DONE. BUMMER ON ALL THAT RAIN. BE BLESSED YA ALL, ITS COLD WINDY AND 29F IN IDAHO. GETTIN READY FOR MORE SNOW. 👍👍🙏🙏
Thanks Race, we are so happy with how the greenhouse turned out. Getting ready to plant our first seeds of the year in it tomorrow 🥳 here's hoping we get some dry weather next week and can get the roof up 🥳
Looking forward to seeing you roof happen….Maggie was definitely so excited to see the truck arrive ..she’s such a lovely girl….oh I nearly forgot to mention…great work on your greenhouse ..looks just perfect..Thankyou for sharing 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I'm so happy to see you two. So sorry for the rain struggles. Last spring we had 55 days straight of rain. No sunshine. I feel your pain. The making of the trusses was so interesting. Thanks for sharing that process. The green house is amazing. Yay. The dog! I mean he's is so happy. ❤
We are so glad to be back too 💜 So pleased you enjoyed watching the trusses being made, we loved going down to watch the whole process, it was even more exciting because it was our roof! Aw Maggie is such a happy pup! xx
The weather there is terrible. I feel for you. We have two seasons… we term them wet and dry. Lately this el nina has turned our weather crazy. Cyclones floods fires and more rain. Hang in there.. life isnt a race you want to win. You have done amazing just clearing out the old caravans. PS the greenhouse looks perfect.. well done!
You might want to make your greenhouse roof slanted for ease of re-assembly in the future. A high front panel, a low rear panel and the two side panels re-cut to the roof slant. Easy to insert a new top rail in the three panels and trim down with a saw. Sliding the roof panel from the rear will become easier too. You might want to put an angled trim / fascia on the roof edges to stop the wind getting straight under the plastic panels. The uplift on the panels from wind gusts is very high! I have memories from when we built our own house of my mother in law sweeping rain water every time she turned up and of "friends" turning up in white T shirts and even whiter trainers, never venturing near to anything remotely muddy. I spent weeks putting in surface drainage that no one ever saw or will ever see again. Been there.Done that. You have my admiration
Thanks David, we did actually build the roof angled so the rain could run off the back but we ended up having to raise the back of the greenhouse up as it started sinking in the mud from all the rain. We had to add an extra row of wood under the back sleeper, which took away our drop off from the back wall 😂 now it runs off the front instead! haha. We are very excited to get our first seeds in 🥳
Lovely to see a new video from you, the greenhouse looks great, and I hope the weather starts getting better soon especially for you guys, kudos to you both for continuing in the rain, now you have the trusses it won’t be long before you have the roof on and get your home dried out, tfs x Julie
Thanks Julie! We are so excited. We are hoping we can get the roof on next week and tomorrow we are planting our first seeds in the new green house! Can't wait 🥰
WOW!!!!!!!! Just stumbled across your channel...what a GREAT VIDEO!!!! YOU two are amazing!!!! I feel like I'm finally seeing the truth of off grid homesteading, many channels being the fluff and candles and long, homespun aprons on ethereal women floating around fields of flowers!!!!!!!! I'm LOVING your video, can't wait to see more!!!
Great work on the greenhouse .You must be really excited now that everything is coming together for roofing your tiny home. Very well done .Can`t wait for the next installment.
Thank you so much for sharing with us the info on Melingoed and how they built the trusses. Really useful and I’m adding them to my contacts list for when we do our own roof! Your greenhouse looks amazing too. Can’t wait to watch the rest of your build!
So pleased you found it interesting 🥰 We loved going to see them being made! It's such a great feeling spending money on a local/family run business that are really skilled at what they do.
@@CampOutWest I’m actually emailing them today - we’ve finally got our moving date so will be sorting out our own roof in Ceredigion soon - so huge thanks for the heads up on them. 😊
I so sympathise with you regarding our wonderful British weather, you're not the only ones to be fed up to the back teeth with all this rain but in your case multiply that with a hundred. I hope things will improve now that you have the roof trusses. Your delightful dog doesn't seem to mind the rain at all, he's having a wonderful time.❤
You guys are amazing, that greenhouse is great, remember to take some time for yourselves spring is just around the corner. Wishing you dryer days, hugs🇦🇺
Thanks Shirley 🥰 we booked an airbnb last night which has been such a nice treat. Inside shower and they had a washing machine too, so we could catch up on our laundry too!
It's great to see you again. Good work. Loving your progress. Enjoy the process, even in the rain. You're doing so well. Greetings from a wet Devon by the sea.
You should be so proud of yourselves - especially keeping it local and creating connections- I’m bursting with pride for you both. Your doing what most can’t do - actually proactively making your dreams come true x 🎉 Wales is my second home I’ve been there many many times throughout my life and when I could snapped up work that meant I could be there even more ❤
Good to see you are still cracking on with it despite the rain and fog we've had, Silent Hill indeed! If you hear any sirens going off, get inside and hide!!
Thanks Daz haha this did make us laugh 🤣 It's when Maggie starts randomly barking into the distance at the fog we start to freak out at what might be 'out there' 🤣🤣
Again, loved the video! Seeing the roof being made was great, then you building the greenhouse! Just amazed yet again at how you continue to create this homestead! X
I really do feel for you guy's, as this year has been extremely wet. I was chatting with the local's in the village only a few day's ago, and they were saying that the rain this year has been the worse for many many year's. It slows us down, but doesn't stop us. Keep up your good work and great video's.
Thanks Kevin. We know once the roof is on and we can get the house wrapped/watertight we can worry less about the weather 🤞Hope you and the girls are having a lovely weekend 🥰
You really are a inspirational dedicated hard working couple that doesnt seem to let anything stop you from achieving your goal, ive watched you since day 1 and you have come such a long way in every way, im so happy for you both and even tho things are tough you still carry on slogging away and will look back on this journey as such a great learning experience and fantastic achievement, well done guys, big kiss for maggie as always
I'm living in Wales and I think the past few months are one of the wettest I can remember, storm after storm. We had scaffold on our property for 7 weeks waiting for a period long enough to have our house rendered. I know typically rendering is a job for summer, but as not many have house rendered through the winter, we managed to get our hands on heavily discounted bags of render and wanted our house ready to sit back and enjoy summer.
Glad you managed to get it done. Sometimes it's too good to pass up isn't it. Really we should wait to the summer to build our cabin but that's our busiest time of year for our day jobs, so we just had to crack on 😅
We live in FL and have tropical weather six months out of the year but I can't imagine THAT many days of rain. So demotivating and oppressive. Hope you guys see a break in the rain soon.
Your home is looking amazing. I love your greenhouse. Looks like the weather is starting to clear up a bit and you can roof your home. Thank you for a great video.
I have been thinking about you both with this horrendous wet weather we have been having, I have been getting frustrated not being able to get out and about but you both have been getting on with what you can, great respect to you both, Spring is around the corner and hopefully the land will dry out quickly....higher ground around Carmarthen has snow this morning.....
It took me seven years from the time I bought my land to the day I moved into my off-grid house. It was frustrating and grueling, and worth every day. I love my place and the autonomy it provides. It will be super tough to finish this project, but I promise it will be worth it in the end. Good luck.
Thanks Grace, we had an unexpected break while we were waiting for our roof trusses to be made. So excited we have them now and we can progress to the next stage 🥳
Great to see you are back, we missed you this last month. How you cope in those conditions is beyond me, you are so brave. Hopefully, the weather will now break and you can move forward with the house build. At least your pooch has a ball in the rain & mud, such energy. Waiting on next instalment of your fantastic journey both. Paul, Swansea 👍👍
Absolutely love your content. The worst of the weather should hopefully be out the way now hopefully you guys can crack on! Love maggie and her zoomies. Chin up, you’re doing fantastic! X
Hopefully we are over the nasty wet & windy weather, Spring is just around the corner and they have predicted we could have a nice dry season...fingers crossed 💜 well done guys 💜keep up the great work 💜
I agree that Melingoed are nice fellas. I used them for the trusses in my car port. If you’d of asked on the Emlyn Facebook pages, I’m sure there are plenty of people that would’ve lent you 4 or 5 tarps or some 4x2 CSB to put up a temporary roof. I’m about a mile from Emlyn and I’ve built a 7m wooden framed sauna and tool store over the last few months. (I still have a day job). Admittedly, I’ve got a warm house to live in whilst making stuff, and I know it’s been wet. Mind you, we had a hint of Spring a few days ago and patience is a virtue. Hang in there and shout if you need a hand.
Yep same here in Devon my field is sodden and has been for months basically since sept'22 apart from a week in June last year and odd days till now . Luckily my field is hilly but undulating so water just sits 🙄pray for us all try to survive offgrid .. its hard 😞 Exciting u have ur roof 😊
Spring weather will be there soon. You probably feel bogged down by the weather but if you just look back at your 1st few videos and see just how far you've come it should make you smile. You are doing a great job. Maggie's excited! Cheers from Carol in Melbourne.
protecting what you have already done is so important--soon it will be spring and summer--and you can move forward again and see lots of progess--roof plans sound exciting..when you look back to the beginnings..your property is transformed already!
IM SO GLAD FOUND YOUR CHANNEL AGAIN!! I WAS SO IMPRESSED WHEN YOU SAID WE CONTINUED ON IN THE RAIN...YOU ARE AN AMAZING COUPLE WITH A COMMON GOAL, YOU WILL SUCCEED BECAUSE OF YOUR CAN DO SPIRIT!! GOD BLESS. 84 YR OLD GRMA USA WA STATE
I know it's so hard to do what you are doing and it's a long journey with so so much work! Please don't despair about the rain and probably also wind as not only you with your off grid life are getting tired of all the challenges coming out of this particular weather period. Everyone is going through loads of unpleasant times right now. I am only saying this to comfort you: you didn't make a mistake or wrong decision, it's just what it is right now. I wish you that it'll get drier very soon! I live in the West of Ireland and it's been a bummer this year with damage of our very small greenhouses during the storms, there has been so much rain and also cold and very wild weather which led to changes in what is going to happen in the garden this for us here. Flexibility and resilience is what we all need right now. Be well and slow down if needed, rest when needed as it's going to get better but you as well as everyone else will need strength for what is coming, this year has only just started.
Speaking from a top storey carpenters experience. Put a thick plastic membrane over your floor and check a channel out of the bottom plates for drainage here and there. Even build a slight camber on the floor. Once the roof and cladding is on you can cut the membrane out and expose your nice dry particle board. Hindsight is 20/20 though
Well done both of you, your resilience is paying off. Drier and brighter days ahead and you’ll soon be showing us all around your new home😊 Spring is nearly here x
keep going an press on, through thick an thin , through better or worse you will make it, all you need is to keep pressing on through the hard times then the easy times will become more valued, and even if times get hard again you have already gone through the worst and will be able to make it. The best thing is, you have done it all by yourselves and will look back on all seasons at your work.
How you manage to keep your spirits up and enthusiasm going with this weather being thrown at you I’ll never fathom. Do you ever think “well even when we’ve finished, we will be getting rained on and blown away”. I do hope that the weather improves for you, you deserve it. Chris.
Drill some small drain holes in the floors and fill them with caulk after you get it dried in, love your work , hello from the ozark mountains of Missouri USA
Glad to be back 🥰 we were waiting for our roof trusses to be made, there was a few weeks until they were ready to make ours, so that's why there was a big gap between videos
Wonderful to see you back again- i was suffering from withdrawal symptoms! Love the greenhouse - genius idea! I've had a thought how you might keep the floor of your house dry: have you considered putting up pop-up gazebos inside the frame, on the floor? With sides fitted, it would stay dry. You could tie it to the framework to keep it in place, and the pitch of the gazebo would allow water to run off the sides. If side pieces aren't long enough, use tarpaulin sheets in their place. Fixed to roof of gazebo out to base of frame. In effect, a fully covering, but easily moveable/ removable roof within the frame! When the proper roof is finished, I'm sure you can still make good use of the gazebo, so no wasted expenditure! Hope i described my idea clearly?! If not, let me know, and I'll email! Looking forwards to your next update! Keep up the great work, and don't let the weather bring you down- better times are coming ( we all hope)!!😊👍
Nice suggestion, I have an inkling that the wind is so severe that it would destroy any gazebos - even if they are lashed into place - but that's a total guess. Fingers crossed the rain stays away and keeping it dry is no longer as big a consideration
Thanks Iain, that is a genius idea - the only issue we have is as we are located on top of a hill we get hit pretty hard by the wind and nothing seems to survive here! We are hoping we will get the roof on next week and then it's time to board/add the OSB & waterproof membrane, so fingers crossed it won't have to be out in the elements for too much longer 🤞
It was great to see the roof being made at the sawmill, you'll always have that as a memory now. I love the greenhouse too - it'll really help with getting your plants started. Everyone has been a bit fed up with all the rain we've been having but nice to see you getting on with stuff despite the weather, I hope it's going to be a bit sunnier soon too. Good luck with everything and thanks for sharing your journey. 👍😊
Great work with the green house x I really do think you need to re think the glamming plan due to the inclement weather. I suggest small wooden cabins you could easily up cycle a garden shed and at least you can make that water proof
But if you made the accommodation more suitable for the welsh weather you could have income 365 days a year ! Sure.y is that not better than just 90 days a year ? @@CampOutWest
It's been very very wet here in Kent, England too. I had a small stream running past my door the other day! I've been off grid for 8 years. A good pair of footwear and a wood stove means mud doesn't bother me, but for doing anything outdoors it just makes it miserable.
Good morning you two amazing people 🎉 what a nightmare, all that vacuuming must have taken ages. Thanks for the roof making video, often wondered how it was made. Went for a weekend and never left 🤣 but the point of my comment was when I arrived in the valley I lived in it didn’t rain for over 2 months . I was so shocked but soon realised the bad weather seemed to travel around my valley but never reached me. I love that part of the country and wish you the best in everything 👍
Really enjoy your videos. Love all the woodwork you're doing, really inspiring & amazing what you've achieved in the weather conditions. You must've spent a fortune on timber.
100% respect. The weather and no doubt all the rubbish dumped on the site would have made your start a hard reality. Fingers crossed you will get some respite.
Your doing so well with everything and both working aswell at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the roof going on then it will really start to look like a new home. Lets hope the weather cheers up soon these cold and wet days have gone on for ages. We need the sunshine now x

Under the circumstances you are doing an amazing job especially as you both work full time.
I would consider a tarp to throw over the entire frame. Will save a lot of headache with water on the framing
100% agree
Absolutely defo one of the best channels ❤️
So pleased we are able to be a little 'break' for people from the world ❤
Check out the woodland initiative.
I for one do not dream of living such a life.
That's for being our hype man Matty! 🥳 so grateful to have the support of such an amazing community here, on TH-cam! 🙌
How are you off grid you rely on the internet infrastructure?
I'm sorry but, if you have running water and electricity, how are you off-grid? Do you have your own personal water supply and generator?
You 2 are doing great. Really feel for you with this relentless weather.
Thanks Mark, we cannot wait for some dryer weather 🥳
Bear was just LUSH! He was a nice surprise during our video 🥰
Richard, sorry to read that! Hope your park home was ok and not damaged?! Hoping you can have a much dryer rest of the year too! 🤞
Thanks Chris! Proud that we have pushed through the worst parts of the year 🥳
With all the bad weather you get in Wales, you should build add an enclosed porch to your tiny house.
You are such a great, hardworking couple.
Thanks Susan 🥰 We make a good team!
2:18 why not drill some holes in the floor in strategic spots and later on you can either plug them or fit grating over to make floor vents which is what caravans have
Great idea. Just conscious about keeping the insulation underneath dry
One more step nearer! I agree with your other follower about a porch too as itll make a huge difference to keeping your living space cleaner and neater and have room for parcel deliveries in the future x
Thanks Sarah 🥰 we are so excited for what's next! We did have an awning that came with our caravan but due to the strong winds we get, being on top of hill nothing lasts very long here 😅
@CampOutWest we lived in a cottage on Cleeve Hill and the winds were horrendous so a built on porch is must xxx
Hi guys. Good to see you. Wow, that’s a lot of rain. Glad you considered the wind when building the new green house. Also, great decision with the trusses. Looking forward to more progress. Keep well you guys, and doggy.
Thanks Ana. Very excited to get our first seeds in the green house! 😃 and hopefully some dryer weather is coming out way 🤞
You poor poor things. I can’t imagine how discouraging all that wet and gloom could be. Good thing you have your joyful doggo and indomitable spirits. Glad to see the roof arrive so you can start protecting all your hard work. We’re with you ❤
Thanks Josephine 🥰 Maggie is our sunshine everyday! We are so excited to have the roof onsite! Can't wait to get it up next week xx
I'm so glad to see you're both okay! I was getting really worried something really bad had happened to you both. I really hope the weather improves and you're able to get more done :)
This channel is honestly my happy place and I get so excited every time you upload :)
Sorry to worry you, we were just patiently waiting for our roof trusses to be made 🥰
@@CampOutWest no worries at all! Was well worth the wait, as they look amazing!
The remediation is real here. Beware of mold.
It's all infected with mold. A vacuum isn't gonna do anything. And it's perfectly rotting now. What a waste
Are you shouting because you are so far away?
Aw Maggie is such a happy pup! xx
Guys we feel for you! Dwain and I are well behind with our gardening! We're still keeping some bananas for you!
The weather there is terrible. I feel for you. We have two seasons… we term them wet and dry. Lately this el nina has turned our weather crazy. Cyclones floods fires and more rain. Hang in there.. life isnt a race you want to win. You have done amazing just clearing out the old caravans. PS the greenhouse looks perfect.. well done!
Thank you Gail 💜 love that saying, you're so right! We are so excited to get our first seeds in the green house tomorrow 🥰
I am love seeing so many folks around the world deciding to become more self sufficient. You all are doing wonderful.
Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor dark of night can stop the two of you. You're such an inspiration and a joy to watch.
Thanks Graeme! We are so excited 🥰 We will be planting our first seeds in the green house tomorrow too, we can't wait!
Looks like you have very dry weather in comparison to Ireland 🇮🇪 lucky you guys …
Your delightful dog doesn't seem to mind the rain at all, he's having a wonderful time.❤
Thanks Pat ❤ Maggie is our own source of sunshine each day 🥰
You guys are amazing, that greenhouse is great, remember to take some time for yourselves spring is just around the corner. Wishing you dryer days, hugs🇦🇺
Thanks Shirley 🥰 we booked an airbnb last night which has been such a nice treat. Inside shower and they had a washing machine too, so we could catch up on our laundry too!
Great to see the truss factory. Thank you for continuing to record your journey, through good times and hard times.
We loved seeing how they were made, so pleased you enjoyed watching it too!
It's great to see you again. Good work. Loving your progress. Enjoy the process, even in the rain. You're doing so well. Greetings from a wet Devon by the sea.
Thanks Jan, glad to be back and progressing 🥰
You should be so proud of yourselves - especially keeping it local and creating connections- I’m bursting with pride for you both. Your doing what most can’t do - actually proactively making your dreams come true x 🎉 Wales is my second home I’ve been there many many times throughout my life and when I could snapped up work that meant I could be there even more ❤
Oh thank you so much Poppy 🥰
Good to see you are still cracking on with it despite the rain and fog we've had, Silent Hill indeed! If you hear any sirens going off, get inside and hide!!
Thanks Daz haha this did make us laugh 🤣 It's when Maggie starts randomly barking into the distance at the fog we start to freak out at what might be 'out there' 🤣🤣
Great to see the Trusses being completed, you both has such resilience its amazing to see
Thanks Gary, we are so excited to have them on site! 🥳
Again, loved the video! Seeing the roof being made was great, then you building the greenhouse! Just amazed yet again at how you continue to create this homestead! X
Thanks Kirsty. It was amazing getting to see our trusses being made! Also so excited for our greenhouse! Jon did such an amazing job 🥰 xxx
@@CampOutWest The weather has to get better soon? All is good here, as I am making the most of the fine day and the girl's just love roaming around. 😁
Thanks Eric, we photographed a wedding in Florida just before covid, we loved it there!
Your home is looking amazing. I love your greenhouse. Looks like the weather is starting to clear up a bit and you can roof your home. Thank you for a great video.
Thanks Debra, Jon did such an amazing Job on the greenhouse 🥰
Awesome job with the greenhouse. Great to see the process for making all the trusses. Looking forward to seeing the next video. Keep going.
Thanks colleen. We loved getting to see our trusses being made 🥰
Brilliant! I can't wait to see your food growing and your cabin take shape! Loving this journey you are sharing!
Thanks Thomas! We are planting our first seeds in the greenhouse tomorrow, we can't wait! 🥰
Very brave to move off grid like this and its very inspiring. Wish you's both the best of luck well done!
Thanks Sandy! Can't believe you had snow with you yesterday, I really hope we don't get it hear haha
It is great to see that you have made progress in spite of the weather. Can't wait to see the roof go on. ❤
Thanks Jayne, we are so excited to get that roof on 🥰
It took me seven years from the time I bought my land to the day I moved into my off-grid house. It was frustrating and grueling, and worth every day. I love my place and the autonomy it provides. It will be super tough to finish this project, but I promise it will be worth it in the end. Good luck.
Good av work! Nice selection of time lapse and music! Good decisions on completion of roof trusses! Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊 John Ken
Thanks so much John 🥰 glad you enjoyed!
I was just thinking this morning hope you guys are alright! The weather has been grim! Glad you’re still plodding on okay 💛 brighter days ahead ☀️
Thanks Paul! Maggie is our personally cheer leader 🥰 she keeps us smiling, no matter the weather!
Absolutely love your content. The worst of the weather should hopefully be out the way now hopefully you guys can crack on! Love maggie and her zoomies. Chin up, you’re doing fantastic! X
Honestly, our favourite part of all of our videos is Maggie 🥰 we just love watching her back xx
Hopefully we are over the nasty wet & windy weather, Spring is just around the corner and they have predicted we could have a nice dry season...fingers crossed 💜 well done guys 💜keep up the great work 💜
Thanks Rosie 💜 we are so excited for spring!
Hopefully we will have a good summer this year and you can get a lot more done, keep on in there your doing a great job.
Thanks William. We are so ready for some sunshine!
Luckily my field is hilly but undulating so water just sits 🙄pray for us all try to survive offgrid .. its hard 😞
Exciting u have ur roof 😊
All around here is the same, areas and roads flooding that we've never seen flood before, most rain per annum since 2000, we were googling the stats
Spring weather will be there soon. You probably feel bogged down by the weather but if you just look back at your 1st few videos and see just how far you've come it should make you smile. You are doing a great job. Maggie's excited! Cheers from Carol in Melbourne.
Well done getting the greenhouse up. Shame the weather’s been so awful
So excited we have them on site! Here's hoping we can get the roof on next week 🥳
protecting what you have already done is so important--soon it will be spring and summer--and you can move forward again and see lots of progess--roof plans sound exciting..when you look back to the beginnings..your property is transformed already!
I feel your pain... the rain over the last 12 months has been insane. My woods didn't even have a chance to dry out during summer..
Very excited for hopefully a nicer spring/summer
IM SO GLAD FOUND YOUR CHANNEL AGAIN!! I WAS SO IMPRESSED WHEN YOU SAID WE CONTINUED ON IN THE RAIN...YOU ARE AN AMAZING COUPLE WITH A COMMON GOAL, YOU WILL SUCCEED BECAUSE OF YOUR CAN DO SPIRIT!! GOD BLESS. 84 YR OLD GRMA USA WA STATE
Thank you Nancy 🥰 so pleased you found your way back to our channel again too! xxx
I blumin love the greenhouse. I have full greenhouse envy. So glad the roof is on site. Keep going, end goal is just on the horizon now
Jon did such an amazing job on the greenhouse 🥰 I feel so lucky! Cannot believe I get to use it 🥰
Look how far you've come, keep going you're doing amazing and you are an inspiration to many ❤
Speaking from a top storey carpenters experience.
Put a thick plastic membrane over your floor and check a channel out of the bottom plates for drainage here and there.
Even build a slight camber on the floor.
Once the roof and cladding is on you can cut the membrane out and expose your nice dry particle board.
Hindsight is 20/20 though
Bravo on all your hard work in miserable conditions. Just think how nice it will be next Winter when you’re all snug and warm in your tiny house. 😊👍
Thanks Paul! The thought of us in the cabin for Christmas, with Maggie sleeping next to the log burner is what's pushing us through 🥰
Well done both of you, your resilience is paying off. Drier and brighter days ahead and you’ll soon be showing us all around your new home😊 Spring is nearly here x
Thanks Jane. We are so excited to get the roof on next week! 🥰
keep going an press on, through thick an thin , through better or worse you will make it, all you need is to keep pressing on through the hard times then the easy times will become more valued, and even if times get hard again you have already gone through the worst and will be able to make it.
So much doen again, the rain is not to control and you're making the best of it, happy to see the next videos with a roof❤
Thank you 🥰 so excited to get the roof on next week 🥳
I'm really enjoying watching you through each stage of your journey. Praying for some sun for you. Keep up the brilliant work 👍
Thanks David 🙌
I'm glad you are back you'd take too much time to come back
Glad to be back 🥰 we were waiting for our roof trusses to be made, there was a few weeks until they were ready to make ours, so that's why there was a big gap between videos
Aww you two are a shining example of what can be done with the will, it will be worth it, I'm so jealous... Best wishes
Thank you 🥰
What a brilliant project, feel for you with a floor awash with water as that was us late last year. Looking forward to watching more progress.
Great work with the green house x I really do think you need to re think the glamming plan due to the inclement weather. I suggest small wooden cabins you could easily up cycle a garden shed and at least you can make that water proof
That's Jeo. We will only be doing our glamping in the key summer months, so we should be able to miss the worst of the weather 🤞
Fab greenhouse, good idea making it transferable. Great video as ever, looking forward to the next. Hope the weather improves for you. 🌥️🌤️🌞Tony ❤xx
Thanks Tony! We were so excited we could go and film them being made. Very excited to get the roof on next week! Jon did such a great job on the green house 🥰 xx
I have travelled the world 🌎.
When not ice and snow. Just rain every day would drive me crazy. Good on ya guys 👍
My grandmother from England.
I pray for sunny days. God bless guys.

As always thumps up. And comments and watch all. It all helps. God bless )
Thanks Mick, grateful for your support! 🙌🧡
I lived in my caravan in wales for nearly 10 years ( nearly on your doorstep).
You must've spent a fortune on timber.
thanks Simon! that's mainly way we have big breaks In our videos as we have to save up for the materials for each job 🤣
100% respect. The weather and no doubt all the rubbish dumped on the site would have made your start a hard reality. Fingers crossed you will get some respite.
The weather has been absolutely dreadful this year and so damn wet! I work outside and have really noticed it. Great video guys - you are awesome.
Nice greenhouse.... kind of ethereal. Good luck in all of your future endeavors.
Your doing so well with everything and both working aswell at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the roof going on then it will really start to look like a new home. Lets hope the weather cheers up soon these cold and wet days have gone on for ages. We need the sunshine now x
Thanks Caroline! We are hoping we can get the roof on next week 🤞🤞 fingers crossed 🥰
You need some sort of big umbrella or waterproof sheeting of some kind to get the rain away from entering onto the floor.
There's nowhere as beautiful as Wales when the sun shines, but you have to blydi earn it!! Those conditions got the better of me and I moved away, but miss the place terribly. You will certainly relish your reward when the sun finally comes out on your amazing work 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
