What a magnificant house Nic, oooh the stonework and that old gothic arched door, looked like it had been chewed by the Chained Ape lol....and oooh the windows, fireplaces, door handles...yes I love old door handles and window furniture lol, the gardens....loved everything about this place. Great vid Nic, loved it 👻......extra oooh.....that kitchen the new owners uncovered....OOOOOHHH!!! & OMG! ❤
Now that’s a house I could quite happily live in, ghosts and all. These kind of houses stir something inside of me and with the Dorset countryside thrown in, what a dream. Good upload. Subscribed.
What a beautiful place. That door, wow, so amazing. I would love to open and explore all the srcret doors. What a lovely place. Oh my, those gardens are stunning. Thank you for sharing Take care
This beautiful house was just as I expected inside. Breathing taking. I live near Mount Stewart in Northern Ireland. That home is beautiful too and had visitors like von Ribbentropp and Churchill.
My dad did a lot of landscaping there in the 1960s, I remember going there at the time, I think the owner at the time was Sir Robert Cook who was a MP. I still have some photographs of the work being carried out somewhere!
The house was magnificent. The grounds were also quite amazing. It amazes me that such places still excise. The music on the soundtrack was also brilliant. WOW ! Thank You so much for sharing this incredible estate.❤
Lovely video - it's a very beautiful house! I have been round the gardens once (even better in the summer) but not the house, so I need a return visit.
Beautifully narrated Nic & what a fantastic location with some spooky stories ! P.S . Would pay to see Chris in the cellar trying to communicate with an ape 😬😝
Beside the tapping, you can also hear the voice of that Cooper. He's saying "Just like that! Ahahahaha!" Smashing video, as always. There's a real warmth to your work.
Good evening fantastic video very enjoyable it's great to here about the history of these lovely British grand houses i expect you probably already know in the 1970s they filmed doctor who the seeds of doom their I don't fancy walking round there at night anyway great stuff looking forward to the next video already 😊
Hello Nic, what a wonderful atmospheric house. I will definitely visit soon. I really enjoyed this vlog very much and we learn so much so thank you. Great music too.😊
Thank you so much. I've actually been a few times, and I notice different things each time. The house has much to give! I hope you make the trip someday! 🙂
Such a beautiful and massive mansion house...I think I'd die from starvation trying to find the kitchen in there...what a weird thing to use as a sink though! 😲
@@walkingthewyrd Thank you for the information! I have a friend from big ol' smoky London coming to visit us country bumpkins soon and we're planning a few days of exploring the county with a focus on ancient or spiritually interesting sites. My friend wants it to be a kind of "folk-horror tour" and this place sounds perfect. Thank you for your kind welcome. I love channels like these and Peter rarely recommends other channels so I had to check you out. I'm glad I did. May Wyrd smile upon your channel's success. 👻
@Wulfyr thank you! Much appreciated! I have a Dorset Wyrd Walks playlist here on my channel for inspiration! I'd highly recommend checking out Knowlton Church and Earthworks and Maumbury Rings for spooky/spiritual locations for you to explore with your friend! Have fun!
Interesting vid, I used to drive past it a lot but have never visited. Wasn't there a fire a few years ago, I assume most of the decoration is a recreation after that.
Such a beautiful house.❤ I love all those windows. Why can't we build things like this anymore? Modern architecture is so ugly. We think we are so much more advanced than our ancestors but this isn't true. They were clearly more visionary, talented and skilled than today's rubbish architects.
@@sybilwinfield538 It's not polite to speak about a lady having the wind. 😉 I know what you mean really, it's nice to hear what a place is like as well as see it.
Using a spirit box for Transcendental Communication, I have successfully communicated across the veil between the living and the dead...with the ape. The following are his words as related thru the device: OOH OOH AHHH AHHH BANANA.
Maybe I missed it, but is this a private residence, private museum, or national trust site? I saw you mentioned an owner, but surely they wouldn't allow tours and live there.
@@walkingthewyrd I am only guessing here, but I imagine the up keep for the gardens alone would be quite costly. This Giles Keating must surely be contributing a bit of philanthropy, unless the number of visitors and/or ticket price are adequately high. There are certainly famous enough places to make big money, but I didn't get that vibe from this place. I cannot fathom the level of wealth necessary to live and operate an estate such as that. Even in the 1500s, a massive staff would have cost big money. I mean having a guy around just to fix your barrels is impressive. I do find it a real shame that the Cooper's ghost appears to still have to work while dead, according to the details of the haunting. Sad really. ; )
@williamsmith306 well this Giles chap, was 'chief economist at a major bank in London' so I'm guessing he's not short of a bob or two! He has also taken on this project of making the house carbon neutral - and has succeeded. There's a huge number of solar panels (hidden) and other things he's done to slash the running costs. And visitor cost, well £19 a ticker for an adult....

Maybe I missed it, but is this a private residence, private museum, or national trust site? I saw you mentioned an owner, but surely they wouldn't allow tours and live there.
The house is currently owned by a chap called Giles Keating and now operates as a tourist attraction, which is open for most of the year to visitors.
