You will have to take the top cage section off to remove the wire bottom that separates the two stories. Once removed just place the top cage section back on top. Hopefully this makes sense. Let me know if you are still confused.
Haha! I definitely want to make more videos on huts and hay racks! Just want to perfect my methods before making a video! However, this castle hay feeder was made by Chintopia on Etsy! She made a few custom pieces for me including the Sky Bridge, castle huts, and the castle hay feeder! She was really great to work with! Check her out on Etsy: etsy.me/38qqPGj
Love the video! I need some help I recently am thinking on get a chinchilla but I dont know alot about them or what is a correct cage size for them and do they need to be in a pair?
I know I’m 2 years late but no! plywood is very bad if they chew it unless you cover it with anti pill fleece. I may be incorrect but I’m pretty sure it has to be kiln dried pine. I’m not 💯 sure though.
There are a few options that you can do and there are pros and cons to each. Pine/Aspen Wood Shavings: -Replace weekly while still spot cleaning the wet spots out daily -Promotes good foot health by roughing the feet up to avoid foot problems such as bumble foot -Many don't like this type of bedding due to it being messy -This is the bedding I prefer. I personally like the aspen over the pine because it is a little heavier. So it doesn't fly around or stick to things as much, but pine is slightly cheaper. No-Pill Fleece: -Needs to be washed every 3 days or they will start to smell, but from my experience they will smell once soiled. So I find that it is easier with a potty trained chinchilla. -This will also need the poop swept up daily -The soft bedding makes chinchilla's feet soft which makes them more susceptible to bumble foot. I would suggest adding a litter box with wood shavings and have rough wooden shelving to help correct this. -Many prefer this bedding because it is not as messy. -There are many people who make these liners on Etsy: etsy.me/2ISuzaQ -But you can also make them yourself or just wrap your floor pan and secure them with metal binder clips like shown in this video: th-cam.com/video/IX6AIh3BxuY/w-d-xo.html -I would suggest having multiple liners. So you can have one in the wash and one on your cage. Tile: -Needs to be cleaned daily as the pee will sit on the surface. Due to the pee sitting on the surface, pee will need to be wiped up immediately to prevent the chinchilla from walking into it. You will also have to sweep the poop daily. -Provides a cool surface for a chinchilla to lower their body temperature. -Provides a hard surface that doesn't have a lot of cushion incase of falls. -Make sure that the tile is sealed so that the pee does not soak into the stone or leak out onto the floor. -This is most ideal with a potty trained chinchilla. -Many prefer this bedding because it is not as messy. Avoid: -Carefresh or any other paper bedding - this can expand in their stomachs and cause impaction -Any type of pellet bedding that expands when wet - this can cause impaction -Cedar bedding - toxic to chinchillas -Straw -Other fabrics - other fabrics have fibers than if ingested can cause digestive issues. However, if your chinchilla is chewing the antipill fleece, I would remove it and use a different bedding option. Sorry for the long answer. This really just needs to be put into a video! Hope this helps!
This is genius. Removing the divider between the floors opens up so much space and allows cleaning just 1 pan at the bottom for the urine. Do you find this layout easier/quicker to clean than the default setup?
Thank you for your suggestion! I do want to upgrade them to a larger cage, but I feel that they are more comfortable in a cage with a lot of accessories. Chinchillas are typically most comfortable in enclosed spaces. The goldbar chinchilla, Piglet, that lives in this cage is more on the nervous side, and I have found that she is most comfortable in a cage that has more enrichment for her to feel more hidden. Thank you so much for your input!
I have a video with cage suggestions : th-cam.com/video/PQPfR-eB11o/w-d-xo.html 2ft x 2ft x 2ft is the minimum cage size, but I would always try to provide the most space that you can.
@@unclesam1545 Guinea pig cages are usually not tall enough for chinchillas, unfortunately. Since I am not located in Italy, my suggestion would be to find a chinchilla Facebook group and ask around for chinchilla cage ideas. A popular group is the Chinchilla Owners Group.

Thank you so much!
What did you use for the metal tube? I’ve been looking for one but don’t know what to call them
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you put the tube up?
Where did you get the metal tube
I want to know how you got the center wire shelf out I just bought a critter nation for my chinchilla

Can you use pine plywood for hides and shelf’s

What should I have as the bedding for the bottom floors of the cage as I don’t know what to do for my chinchillas
There are a few options that you can do and there are pros and cons to each.

Put tile flooring, it keeps them nice and cold and is great for cleaning up pee and poo.
@@ryanjackson493 I kinda did that, half slabs half bedding they seem to like it
Where did you get all that cool stuff?
Haha, mostly Etsy. I have many of the links in the description if you are interested in anything.
what bedding do you use please help!!
I use Aspen wood shavings, but you can also use pine wood shavings, tile, or no pill fleece as bedding as well.
This is genius. Removing the divider between the floors opens up so much space and allows cleaning just 1 pan at the bottom for the urine.
Do you find this layout easier/quicker to clean than the default setup?
Oh it definitely is easier to clean. However you must make sure to fill the middle with accessories to make sure no one has a fall.
In my opinion, just a suggestion, I think the cage is a bit too crowded for two chins.

I'd love to get a big cage but there isnt space in my apartment...what should be the minimum dimension for a cage?
