Let me explain something to you: every Brazilian has an English class at school, and those with better financial conditions (people who go to shows) usually take an English course, it's a very important thing here. So English is not a strange thing, a lot of people know how to speak at least the basics
In my opinion, that's not the whole true. First, "every Brazilian has an English class at school" which basically stop at the simple verbs and verb tenses. Second, even the people who go to shows don't speak English, they just learn the lyrics (or sing similar to the lyrics).

The 1985 edition of Rock in Rio is very special because our country had just left the military dictatorship, it is certainly one of the most important moments of our culture. Queen's performance is perhaps one of the landmarks for music in the country, as well as AC/DC, iron Maiden, Ozzy. Several Brazilian bands emerged after the event.
Definitely check out RBD, they are a band that was put together based on a Mexican soap opera/novela they became one of the fastest growing groups in Latin America. They still hold a lot of records for ticket sales and fan bases. The first first concert I ever attended was to see them in LA Colosseum in 2005/2006 (can’t remember correctly the year).

Yes, we can ride on that ferris wheel or the roller coaster!! I had the privillege to be on the top of the ferris wheel once while Goo Goo Dolls was playng Iris. One of my favorites moments EVER!

Omg I’ve been in 3 editions of rock in rio and those concerts are awesome. I remember not expecting much of maroon 5 concert because I thought I didn’t know that many songs of them, but then I realized I could sing and remember the lyrics to their songs. Right after them it was Coldplay concert that was wonderful and very emotional. Basically that day of the festival was one of my favorite memories. After that I saw maroon 5 again in another edition of RIR and I dream of seeing Coldplay again, and about Rihanna, I can proudly say I was 2 concerts of her in RIR and they both were fucking amazing.
Audiences search their favorite artists. They know basic English too, so they can memorize and sing. But there's other important thing: braziliens love to sing! They can sing and dance till morning comes, like Carnaval. You're right in a certain way: it's the magic of samba since many centuries ago. That comes from long ago.The brazillien's past is made of so many voices. So it comes to us now. Beautiful, insane voices! BUT: Coldplay was singing a classical song from Jorge Benjor: search "Mas que Nada".

They were the bravest too,they played atThe FIRST Rock in Rio,when the political situation was danger at that time!!!! They were Headliner at TWO nights!!!!!
