What a debate!!! Shorosh asked for the challenge and Deedat accepted. The challenge was clearly won by Deedat and explained by both. However, Shorosh did not stand a chance and ultimately lost. He wrote books he is a doctorate and yet, could not answer the questions when put forward to him. It's been very educational to say the least. What we have to understand is that only 3 main religion exist. Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This is because it came from the same God. In its time of revelation it's was sent for that era and for those people and generation. In time our behaviour changed and then on another religion came and another. The final was Islam and the seal of the prophets was the last and final messenger Mohammed. Christianity and Islam is an identical religion. The only difference being the belief in Jesus was God and the trinity. Where as Muslims belive and the quran states Jesus was miraculously born and he was a man and a messenger same like those that came before him, ie Moses. What we have learned and understood from this debate is that Christians have misinterpreted the Language in the Bible, the teachings of Jesus and the sayings of Jesus to suit their needs. I remember watching this debate on a VHS cassette many, many years ago. I found this individual Anis extremely unlikable then and extremely unlikable now. I find the tone of his voice and all the yelling extremely unpleasant and his demeanor annoying and arrogant. He does not have an honest presence and reminds me of televangelist. I almost expected him to “donate money for Jesus”. As for Mr Deedat, what a beautiful presence, what a memory, what knowledge, what a kind face and such articulation. If I was a Christian I’d be extremely embarrassed to have Anis represent me or my religion in such a debate against a scholarly man like Mr Deedat. In the New Testament, there are two Greek words translated "word": rhema and logos. They have slightly different meanings. He preexisted with the Father (verse 1), He was involved in the creation of everything (verse 3), and He is the "light of all mankind" (verse 4). The Word (Jesus) is the full embodiment of all that is God (Colossians 1:19; 2:9; John 14:9). But God the Father is Spirit. He is invisible to the human eye. The message of love and redemption that God spoke through the prophets had gone unheeded for centuries (Ezekiel 22:26; Matthew 23:37). People found it easy to disregard the message of an invisible God and continued in their sin and rebellion. So the Message became flesh, took on human form, and came to dwell among us (Matthew 1:23; Romans 8:3; Philippians 2:5-11). The Greeks used the word logos to refer to one’s “mind,” “reason,” or “wisdom.” John used this Greek concept to communicate the fact that Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, is the self-expression of God to the world. In the Old Testament, the word of God brought the universe into existence (Psalm 33:6) and saved the needy (Psalm 107:20). In chapter 1 of his Gospel, John is appealing to both Jew and Gentile to receive the eternal Christ. Jesus told a parable in Luke 20:9-16 to explain why the Word had to become flesh. “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out. “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.’ But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. ‘This is the heir,’ they said. ‘Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” In this parable, Jesus was reminding the Jewish leaders that they had rejected the prophets and were now rejecting the Son. The Logos, the Word of God, was now going to be offered to everyone, not just the Jews (John 10:16; Galatians 2:28; Colossians 3:11). Because the Word became flesh, we have a high priest who is able to empathize with our weaknesses, one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet He did not sin (Hebrews 4:15).

What a debate!!! Shorosh asked for the challenge and Deedat accepted. The challenge was clearly won by Deedat and explained by both. However, Shorosh did not stand a chance and ultimately lost. He wrote books he is a doctorate and yet, could not answer the questions when put forward to him.
It's been very educational to say the least.
What we have to understand is that only 3 main religion exist. Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This is because it came from the same God. In its time of revelation it's was sent for that era and for those people and generation. In time our behaviour changed and then on another religion came and another. The final was Islam and the seal of the prophets was the last and final messenger Mohammed.
Christianity and Islam is an identical religion. The only difference being the belief in Jesus was God and the trinity. Where as Muslims belive and the quran states Jesus was miraculously born and he was a man and a messenger same like those that came before him, ie Moses.
What we have learned and understood from this debate is that Christians have misinterpreted the Language in the Bible, the teachings of Jesus and the sayings of Jesus to suit their needs. They have altered the bible. As the orginal bible the old testament would indicate that the teachings of the prophet Jesus would point everything to Islam which was the religion that he was following. But if that really happened they would not be able to control the generations of people.

I remember watching this debate on a VHS cassette many, many years ago. I found this individual Anis extremely unlikable then and extremely unlikable now. I find the tone of his voice and all the yelling extremely unpleasant and his demeanor annoying and arrogant. He does not have an honest presence and reminds me of televangelist. I almost expected him to “donate money for Jesus”. As for Mr Deedat, what a beautiful presence, what a memory, what knowledge, what a kind face and such articulation. If I was a Christian I’d be extremely embarrassed to have Anis represent me or my religion in such a debate against a scholarly man like Mr Deedat. Answer: The term word is used in different ways in the Bible. In the New Testament, there are two Greek words translated "word": rhema and logos. They have slightly different meanings. Rhema usually means “a spoken word.” For example, in Luke 1:38, when the angel told Mary that she would be the mother of God's Son, Mary replied, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word [rhema].”
Logos, however, has a broader, more philosophical meaning. This is the term used in John 1. It usually implies a total message, and is used mostly in reference to God's message to mankind. Is there historical evidence of the crucifixion? The crucifixion of Jesus Christ did not take place in obscurity. The writers of the four gospels were actual figures in history that wrote, from various perspectives, about the life, ministry, and death of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Their writings depicted eyewitness accounts of documented happenings in history. The variety of theories as to the events following the crucifixion and to what happened to the body of Jesus, only serves to further establish the fact of this heinous death. Such well-known legends as the swoon theory, that Jesus only passed out on the cross and was later resuscitated by the cool air of the tomb, and the case of the stolen body are strewn throughout literature chronicling the events of that time. The fact is, the death of Jesus Christ was never disputed. The Jews, both those who hated him and those who would become His future followers, witnessed His death. It was a public event that took place in front of the whole world. John 12:32-33 says, "'But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.' He said this to show the kind of death He was going to die." Joseph of Arimethea, himself a notable figure of the Jews of that day, requested the body of Jesus in order to give Him an honorable burial.
As to the validity of the mode of execution, it was established that by the first century, crucifixion was the Roman method for certain non-Roman criminals. It was initially employed as a form of punishment causing extreme pain and humiliation, so much so that the word "excruciating" was created for the express purpose of describing the unfathomable horror of the individual's suffering on a cross. Excruciating literally means, "out of the cross." How wonderfully this fit into the plan and will of God: "If a man guilty of a capital offense is put to death and his body is hung on a tree, you must not leave his body on the tree overnight. Be sure to bury him that same day, because anyone who is hung on a tree is under God's curse. . ." (Deuteronomy 21:22-23).
The massacre and shame that the Savior endured as one accursed was suffered for our benefit. He who never sinned suffered on our behalf, for our sins worthy of death; we were the accursed. The severity of the punishment was a stark reflection of God's holiness and His hatred of sin. While we as humans justify ourselves and compare ourselves to others who may not be as "good" as we are, God has indicated that the slightest infraction is an affront to His holiness.
1 John 5:17 says, "All wrongdoing is sin. . ." What a terrible weight Jesus carried, the load of our sins that so disfigured Him, that even the Father turned away? Matthew 27:46 "About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?' - which means, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'"
Perhaps the greatest evidence of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the eternal results in the lives of those who have accepted Him. Those who have believed in what happened on Golgotha have been given the right to be called sons of God, and may now cry "Abba, Father." We can now have fellowship with the living God.
Jesus Christ was not the first or last person to be crucified. He was the only one, however, to be resurrected, and that from such a horrible death. He bore in His resurrection body, forever, the scars of His crucifixion in His hands and feet and side. We are told in God's Word that this will ever be a witness, for as the prophet foretold, "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son" (Zechariah 12:10).

You are completely wrong and mistaken, Mr Deedad. You have not read the whole Bible. JESUS CHRIST is LORD and GOD. He Claimed to be God and Avow Himself as LORD and GOD. Let me prove it to you by quoting what Jesus says about Himself. Please read and search those verses for you.

What Quran says?
it is nowhere to be found in the Koran, Allah speaks directly to Muhammad, let alone revealed the truth. Just read and search the Quran. Show me any single verse in the Quran where Allah said to Muhammad, "I am ALLAH, worship me!" or "I am ALLAH, serve me!". Or where is to be found in the Quran any single verse where Allah said to Muhammad, You are my prophet or I have called you to be my prophet/servant?
If Quran is said tto be the last revelation, why is that it is said in the Quran,
"Guide us to the straight way!" (QS 1:6).
You are looking for the straight way, brother... How can you (muslims) say Quran is the last revelation while the Quran itself says, “guide us to the straight way?
And Jesus answer your plea and anxiety when He says,
"I am the WAY, The TRUTH and the Life and no one comes to the Father (heaven) except through me. (John 14:6).

Jesus said my Father is greater than me. Why Jesus said my Father is greater? Because He emptied from His Godhead to be a man to live on this earth for 33 1/2 years. After His resurrection He is God as before. While He was on this earth He was God in heaven among the angels.

john kurian no offence brother? Just countering. Jesus is a god, Jesus became man and paid penalty to God, to avoid his own created hell, may be. The immorality , crimes or any evil act or what so ever, which had no impact, as Jesus himself created sins and forgave. What a waste of creating sins, penalties which doesn’t even apply to anyone. You seem to miss the point. God is a holy God and will not tolerated sin. Men could not even keep the ten commandment. So jesus as the son of God was willing to die for the sins of mankind , so that we could have an opportunity to be in the kingdom of God.
