Same here we only had the glorious green screen monitor and it looked totally different to this. My favourite games were Chuckie Egg and the Dizzy games. This was one of the free games i got with the system, i think there was 11 games that came with it. The only other ones i can remember was Roland in the caves and Xanagrams lolz.
First game I ever played on the old CPC6128 back in the 1980s, and one of the best. No instructions, so thanks for mentioning some never could be solved; I always wondered why I could never get them out.
Take a look at the other free games. The best of the rest was Oh Mummy and Harrier Attack. Even though the graphics flicker, they are still impressive compared to the rest of the free games, and much of the Amsoft back catalogue. Plus the game was fun, sure it might not have taken full advantage of the Amstrad's features, but it sure had the one thing that counts: playability.
The hours spent playing this game. Just tried explaining to my 6year-old how long games took to load and what you got in the end. She didn't believe me and asked what a tape was!
I had one back in the late 80s, Roland was probably only gm that came with it. Roland on the ropes, Roland in the caves must have been 15+ different gms all with Roland in.
oh boy, i spent so much time of my youth playing that fucking hard game. :-) I remember sometimes i got full of panic and paranoia with all those ghosts behind me an coming through the walls. I hated it. I loved it.
Played this on the Amstrad 6128. Jeez the time it took to hook up the cassette player to the PC 🙄. Remember another game, the untouchables" slightly based on the movie. It took about an hour load and I always was hit at the shootout after ten seconds 😅
Fun and addictive in it's own way. I can remember typing in that short code for the cpc to display an even lower resolution than mode 0 & then loading this game up. The game still ran fine with a far quicker frame rate.
Have to point out that there were three paths that you didn't explore, so I don't think you can declare this level impossible to complete quite yet. I don't remember ever finding a RotR map that was actually impossible, but it was some time ago that I last played it...
Wow! So many people praising this game. This really was as bad as they come. Eg this was a 3 channel sound machine & I can only hear one channel playing. Yes I know it came free with the machine, so dont complain. But thats my point Free! They should have paid us for the hours wasted suffering that excuse for a game.
I love this game, one of my absolute favorites 33 years before now ;)
I remember completing the whole game! Just the best. Also remember roland in the caves.
omg! bringing back all my childhood memories! i loved my amstrad, the games took so long 2 load tho!lol!
it's been 12 years since you posted this. You can turn the tape over now.
God damn this game is so old. I remember playing this on a green/black Schneider (Aka Amstrad PC). When I was like 4/5 years old.
Same I never had the technicolour experience :) Had the Amstrad 464 with the green screen :) Cassette tape games ftw.
oh yes it s old but.......
remember this game why^^???????
This and "the scout goes out" were my main for years.
@@cyberomega5796 Did you get told at the time why you never got the colour version?

His walking noise sounds like a fart😂 I played that game when I was 11
He's the most flatulant guy ever.
Man i used to play this and Roland in the caves bare times
@schnubbel76 That 'sshripp' noise still sets my teeth on edge.
lol... those sounds! Many memories and I feel so bad about what my parents must have endured sound-wise lol
But we endured 30 mins load times , then multiple crashes
CPC green screen ftw
@@brunitch How do you know he had green screen?
Lol, this brings back so many fond and also frustrating memories.

climbing the ropes didnt tire roland at all....for skinny arms they were sure strong to up and down the ropes!

Oh the memories !!! Thanks a billion times !
The graphics and SFX on this game always used to give me headaches.
ha ha ha ! roland in the catacombs , loved this game back in the days.
oh boy, i spent so much time of my youth playing that fucking hard game. :-)
I remember sometimes i got full of panic and paranoia with all those ghosts behind me an coming through the walls.

I should have kept my Amstrad. Miss these games.

The Roland games were brilliant. This one was good, but I prefered Roland in Space and Roland in the Caves.
Ah the flickering in all its glory.
bee bop bee bop bee bop bee bop bee bop bee bop
Thanks for this - time for me to dig out the old machine I reckon.
This old game is still playable (and much faster) with that extra mode which you could display using Out commands.
omg i loved this game!!! lol
This game was a barsteward to control with the joystick.
Legendary fuckin game, the nostalgia is killing me!!!

i loved this game but could never finish it, the hours i spent in the attic trying to complete it.
I played this game back in The 90s waited hours to load it and I fall zzzzzz hahaha
Hab ich stundenlang gespielt auf dem Schneider CPC 6128😊
was the first game I ever played on my first ever computer lol an I still have it doubt its working mind you lol good memories
And you didnt finish it!!! AGGGH this game drove me mental back in the day!
I cant believe it amazing memories!!!!! Fucking hard this game was though. Where has the time gone it seems like yesterday I was playing this game!
Formerly "Fred". Lovely game.
And when you made it past the skeleton level and got to CHOOSE how many monsters were in the game.. wow!
This is better than Spelunky, they should do a remake.
fucking arse how difficult this was....the sound effects used to give me a headache, but i still couldn't stop playing it lol
yayyyyyyyyyy roland in the caves, sounds like those ghosts are tearing him a new asshole...lol - cpc ruled :p
the ghost are always near by.. ha
Classic gaming!!!
How does a ghost hurt you.
roland rules!!! :-D
let s try a roland game^^
aaaahhh, i hatedt his game but nowhere near as much as I hated roland in the caves, now that was one hell of an annoying game! BAD memories!
