I used to love this game. My parents bought me the CPC 464 (green screen of course!) and it was bundled with 12 games. This and Roland on the ropes were the first games I played and it brought me, in the future, thousands of hours of gaming pleasure thanks to the addictive quality of it. Roland on the ropes was my favourite game which came with the collection and was the first game I ever completed. My brother hated me when I completed it and gave up gaming for some reason. Thanks for posting this, you just brought back some really good memories for me.
I had a CPC 464 as well with all the games and with the green screen too. My mom and i used to play on Harrier Attack, I'd fly the plane, she'd push the space bar to drop the bombs i think.
Green screen also 😞 Scooby doo was hard af, treasure island Dizzy oh mummy, renegade etc I use to envy my cousin's colour spectrum I'd play weekly then go home to 860 shades of green 😢
I spent hours playing this on my Amstrad CPC 464. That was more than 35 years ago. Today , I fly the Harrier in DCS in VR. It is amazing how things have advanced.
Used to play this all the time, incredible to know we have gone from this to games such as DCS World, MSFS 2020, Xp11 etc in a relatively short space of time.
I loved it too. Durell made AWESOME games, saboteur, attack Lynx, turbo esprit etc, I think they are still in business in a minor capacity. I raise my glass to Durell!
I don't play games anymore but this was one in my good collection and I would be more than happy to play this today, simple rules, not to mind bending and enough skill needed. Thanks for the upload.
the front covers to these games were spectacular explosions of colour and action, and this is what took an hour to load. Loved playing this game though, and the Covenant (even though it was impossible to complete)
oh my god this takes me back a few years!!! although i can never remember how to land the plane, i dont think i ever managed it. do you remember sultans maze haha good times !
This was probably the first game I got up and running on the CPC464 as a kid. What's crazy is that I can remember the SMELL of my newly manufactured Amstrad just watching this video. I know, weird.
Tapping space once to take off then letting rip with the torpedoes and bombs as you destroy the flightdeck and blast your way through the command tower of the ship was always a pleasure of mine. Then skimming along the water water to missile your way literally through the enemy boat (as long as collision detection recognised your missile hitting theirs first). Then after bombing the shit out of the civilians ejecting just before crashing for an extra 1000 points. I've wasted my life lol
I played this game to death,I loved how simple it was & how it got harder & harder,to the point that the hills got so high that u only had space for 1 vertical move,it got super fast aswell.I mastered this game after hours & hours of play time,it’s simple to play hard to master gameplay was addictive just like Tetris in the way it speeded up & the further up the screen you had to play with less space to work with. This game would play as well 2day as bak then just like Tetris also
I adored this game as a kid. We used to have our own two player rules when one person would be the bomber, and the other the pilot and in charge of missiles. Oh, and I seem to recall you could fly through the flak with impunity. Dodging it was pointless.
For the very very younger generation here, yes this is what we had and had many hrs of fun playing this game and others. I had this PC with a green screen monitor
First ever game i owned was this on the amstrad cpc 464 with a green screen. Damn that seems like a lifetime ago, we also used to play bullseye darts as a family. Now look at what we have and its epic!
This is 1 of the first games if not the 1st I had as a kid mines wasn't colour tho mines was a green screen games felt better back then I used to get so excited buying a new cassette game and also renting them from the film shop pure nostalgia
I used to play this all the time on my amstrad lol always used to remember it took ages to load and I didnt have the colour monitor so it was in the green all the time...
I remember bombing my own ship right after you take off... then when you come back to land on it, it's not there and you keep flying over flat water until you run out of fuel and crash :(
Great to see this again, I downloaded the game but I cant make the harrier take off it just sits on the carrier and no key works no matter what one i press. Other games seem to work fine but this one won't
these computer games are an absolute embarrasment compared to the games of today. i cant believe i was so addicted to them. The most frustrating thing was the constant freezing and crashing of the games was a common problem deemed as normal routine in those days.
thats so nostalgic it makes me want ot be sick I'd forgotten the ejecting bit Bloody sound is rediculous. Do you remember that old screatching scratchy sound the comp used to make when you were loading it up. Get so pissed off waiting for it to load
I remember playing this game on some console system my cousing had called an Oric or something back in the 80s. I'd man the bombs, my brother the missiles and my cousin flew. They don't make em like they used to....
You could also bomb the carrier after take off. Unfortunately it meant you couldnt land anywhere on the otherr side. Still got my 464 and it still works!!!
That boat at the start what shoots the missile, I used to take out the missile with one of mine, then shoot another missile into the boat before flying to a low eough level to bomb it twice!

Roland on the Ropes was hard.
Had the green screen too

Oh Mummy! was mint

Brings back memories of bombing my own aircraft carrier at the start, completing the mission only to find no carrier there, run out of fuel and crash.
hahahah did excatly the same
Haha, I used to do that shit too
Hahaha. Any one break the joy stick playing daily Thompson track and field
Lmao I did this too
Lol same here
Used to play this all the time, incredible to know we have gone from this to games such as DCS World, MSFS 2020, Xp11 etc in a relatively short space of time.
Meanwhile, 30+ years later, I'm still playing video games..
Likewise. Never intend to stop either.
@@GrumpyStoic me too
Loved this game! Used to play boulder dash and oh mummy as well.
Oh I loved this game back in 1988
I loved it too. Durell made AWESOME games, saboteur, attack Lynx, turbo esprit etc, I think they are still in business in a minor capacity. I raise my glass to Durell!
I loved this game when I was young! Thanks for that.. loved the crash at the end :-)
I don't play games anymore but this was one in my good collection and I would be more than happy to play this today, simple rules, not to mind bending and enough skill needed. Thanks for the upload.
Harrier Attack is one of my all time favorites on CPC.
I was very good at it and i still can make great scores whenever i fire it up!
What made it so good was the waiting for it and when it finally loaded you were over the moon
My first computer, my first game...and the best ever ! Wow.
The first game I played on the CPC too. This is one of the reason I became, and still am, a gaming addict.
Remember playing this when I was a kid, man that game was hard.
Omg the sounds and everything... you just took me back 35 years😂
i used to love this game, played on it for hours when my bro wasnt using it. Used to love bombing those buildings.
the front covers to these games were spectacular explosions of colour and action, and this is what took an hour to load.
Loved playing this game though, and the Covenant (even though it was impossible to complete)
I loved this game as a kid.
Another good un was "Oh Mummy"
oh my god this takes me back a few years!!! although i can never remember how to land the plane, i dont think i ever managed it. do you remember sultans maze haha good times !
Let’s be honest if you played this game then sometimes that big red button with ‘ESC’ on it was always a temptation no matter how good you were doing.
Bring back my childhood. I had a good childhood
I remember playing this as a 5 year old boy. The sound of the harrier crashing/blowing up used to make me shit myself every time..
The space bar to bomb all the buildings at the end was my favourite part!
Awesome! Thanks for uploading this, suddenly I'm 11 all over again! Who remembers Arnold in The Caves?
This comment is 6 year late...but it was Roland in the Caves...and it was just stupidly hard
Arnold lol you stupid cabbage
Bombing the buildings at the end was always an awesome bit.
Still remember smacking that space bar to drop bombs on the town. And that sneaky destroyer at the end with the much faster missile. The good ol days.
This was probably the first game I got up and running on the CPC464 as a kid. What's crazy is that I can remember the SMELL of my newly manufactured Amstrad just watching this video. I know, weird.
You forgot to save a bomb for the boat at the end!
Lol @ the ending.
Great little game, great memories...

From memory, it almost always did nothing, but occasionally would destroy you. I don't know if it was supposed to be random, or if that was a bug.
@@iapetusmccool This is why I love TH-cam.
(I know. I know. I should have waited 14 years to reply.)
We did the 2 player thing too!
brings back some memories.Harrier attack was part of a suite of games that came with the Amstrad CPC 464 Oh Mummy was another game too
For the very very younger generation here, yes this is what we had and had many hrs of fun playing this game and others. I had this PC with a green screen monitor
Ahhhhh memories. Loved this game, although I was hopeless at it.
Used to always scare me when you blew up too haha.
Did you nail Dresden here you scope 🤔
Man this brings back memories!
My girlfriend is 11 years younger and can’t believe this was my first video game, now she thinks I was born 3000 years ago
Oh wow does this bring back memories of when i was a kid
AWESOME! it was worth the 10 mins it took to load
First ever game i owned was this on the amstrad cpc 464 with a green screen. Damn that seems like a lifetime ago, we also used to play bullseye darts as a family. Now look at what we have and its epic!

I started here, and now we've got DCS and IL2. Mad.
Nowhere near as good as I remember it. Love the crash at the end though, it's the epitome of frustration
Grew up playing this, Jet set willy and Trap door! good stuff.
Man it looks harder than I remembered!
Remember this so well, would be great to see an emulator
Hm.....
I used to play this game up and down and from the left to the right, back in the 80s . But I don't know why ;)
I'm 40 now, i loved it ❤️😎
I would run to my friends house after school to play this.
I've got this game on my iPhone (Albeit the Speccy version). Brought back a lot of memories.
I used to play this all the time on my amstrad lol always used to remember it took ages to load and I didnt have the colour monitor so it was in the green all the time...

HAHA....thanks for uploading and bringing back memories of a time long gone :)
i found this game so addictive,
OMG! I used to play this game and I was actually an age at the time.... hard to believe! I think it was somewhere between the ages of 0 and 120.
Do you know where you can download this?
I only ever had the green monitor! But loved this game.
You were poor…😂😂
LEGENDARY
now that's some fancy flying
what a classic could never get passed the city but i was only about 6

I used to have a mate called Barry Elcoat and he said his uncle wrote this game.
I remember playing this game on some console system my cousing had called an Oric or something back in the 80s.
I'd man the bombs, my brother the missiles and my cousin flew.
They don't make em like they used to....
holy cow this was my fav game ever!
jeez man, look at the tearing going on. ha! old school!
You could also bomb the carrier after take off. Unfortunately it meant you couldnt land anywhere on the otherr side. Still got my 464 and it still works!!!
Oh yes! Roland on the ropes?
Press that space bar! Loved this game :-)
loved me amstrad cpc 464, only down fall was i had the green screen not the colour. i loved harrier attack.
I just used to think the clouds looked like white versuons of the dragon on the Welsh flag
Christ, I was about 4 when I used to play this!
Please tell me you know what this game is about
Classic of classics
That boat at the start what shoots the missile, I used to take out the missile with one of mine, then shoot another missile into the boat before flying to a low eough level to bomb it twice!
@Jermyn78
thats exactly how to do it. =)
and once you get to the city: fly as low as possible and hit the spacebar like a maniac.
cpc 464 my first computerI remember the games in the paper shop £1.99 or £2.99
GOOD PLAYED HAHA!!! :-) With a nice landing in the end :-D
wtf.. I used to play this game when I was 6 years old
Classic Ending!!! Happened to me so many times!! lol
I remember this game well
Ahh!!!! The good old days
Harrier Attack is awesome.
First game i loaded up christmas day 1984......took a while though.
whatch out for the flak!!!!!! great game
@WhitUK1st 17 minutes to load if i remember correctly.
This game was epic.... until your little brother pressed the Esc key and ruined everything! :)
did it release the parachute?
Great workkkk
first computer, green color.
PMSL @ 03:10 - that happened to me every single time!!
It was great when I discovered I could use the rockets to fly through the buildings. And that bloody shrapnel. Lol
Good times. If you were skilled enough you could go sea-level and rocket out the underside of that first ship and fly out the end.
Yep, and if you were able to, get higher than an enemy plane and bomb it!
holy shite i loved this game
god i loved this game, and it was truly crap haha ;) what year was it released, mid 80s?
