Wow so many memories. I had a friend, think I was maybe 8, Indian boy called muminder, he got bullied a lot, because he looked different. Never saw anything different about him, he was cool as fuck, and was my best mate, his dad was a big deal in India and they moved back over there, before mobiles etc, so never saw or heard from him again. everyone called him mum or mummy. Dad used to sing a song to the music to this "oh mummy, are you coming round for tea, are you coming, are you coming, are you coming round for tea"
I remember the music score along the whistling sound from the speaker while loading the software from the cassette.I had the cpc464 with the green monochrome monitor and i think i still have them both.
I believe my parents are among those few who played this game during their generation back in North Borneo then. Me and my younger bro also did play it for a few years before DOS came. That background melody has been resurrected today as a modern chinese dance song, I am still searching for the song title.
Que recuerdos tenía este juego, plaga galactica ,de coches y Freddy hardest que nostalgia ordenador amstrad de cintas pues flipaba que tiempos más buenos
I have always wondered if they invented this music or if they based it off an already existing tune because I feel like... They did but then I can't think of what that tune would be?! It's driven me mad for decades
I played this on a friend's CPC464 :-) I had a BBC Micro with a similar game called Demon Decorator, where you had to paint lines (instead of foot steps in Mummy) in order to colour in the squares.
Oh my god how I missed that music all those years... But damn playing this game when I had about 8 mummies (use yer scroll to take one out before you exit the level dude!!) chasing me was nightmare inducing back in the day. Q (up) A (down) o(left) P (right) SPACE (whatever) before shredding your thumbs on a d pad was mandatory.
Does anyone know if you can just play games from the actual emulator after downloading it or do you need any extra hardware to actually play the games.
+Sarah Barton In case anyone else asks the same question (since I'm sure you've found out one year on). The rule for most emulators is that you can play once you have three things: 1) the emulator, 2) the system BIOS, and 3) the game. I haven't used WinAPE myself, but I can't see that it requires the system BIOS, so that's even easier. In any case, no actual hardware is needed, unless you want to use a USB gamepad to control games, and assuming the emulator supports it.
for anyone interested, this game scared the hell out of me as a kid and now i have a daughter ive decided to remake it for the next generation in Roblox. at time of writing its only the one level and has 0 views . ill be working on the full game daily @t
Something about washing undies in chow mein, wasn't that the lyric? Or did I dream that? Of course, the Amstrad sampled speech was fairly minimal and you needed a special box thing. :P
I still remember that music to this day!!!
Yes!
I've come here to remember it. I keep thinking of Tetris. 🤔
Yes, the tune is also burned into my memory. Just a shame the game was far too easy.
remake ! th-cam.com/video/L8ejntHrChY/w-d-xo.html
It’s called ‘sailors hornpipe’ and it’s an old sea shanty.
I’ve been looking for this for decades! This sound just brings me back to happy childhood. Thank you 😊
Thanks for this brings back great memories
LOVED this game as a kid!!!
Also still whistle this tune...nearly 30 years later
Finally this one has sound! Love it
I am still whistling this tune to this day :D
I had the CPC 464 but wasn't lucky enough to have the colour monitor.
Green screen bros
Same here but wouldn't change it for the world
Man!! I had 464 35 years ago

Wow. Played this on a grandmothers (yeah!) old Amstrad. It was tape cassette-based and took a while to load. Still, cool memories.

The first computer game I ever played :-) mid eighties or so.

*NOSTALGIA!!*
Loved it 😂 remember coming in from being outside with mate for ages and his dad was still on it 🤣

That bassline!
Interesting in that if you lose a life, the game doesn't restart the level, it just lets you carry on minus one life.
This game was so DOPE ❤️
It was definitely one of those 5 minute games, which many of us came across.
Nah we played it for hours
@@nnaheim. we all have faves from the amstrads early age. That's what made the cpc so magical.

Thing on a spring was also an awesome game on the amstrad!! 👌
I used to play this on my CPC464 with a green monitor, the game was on cassette
I always have the cpc machine and this game as an original game tape
I played this for a week when I got grounded in 1986. I was 6.
My childhood right here.
Oh wow…I had this in 1988. Probably in my parents attic.
Que recuerdos tenía este juego, plaga galactica ,de coches y Freddy hardest que nostalgia ordenador amstrad de cintas pues flipaba que tiempos más buenos
When I was a little girl I thought the sarcophagus were burguers?? 😂
El Pucho used to play this game on his green monitor.
Miss this hi quality music. Think we're due a remix
Once you get the scroll you can kill one of the mummys by walking in to it makeing one less mummy on the next screen

Memories
Fun Amidar clone and more refined visually than the Sinclair Spectrum version.

Was this before Pacman?
My mum and I played this.
La de tardes que jugué.
30 min tardaba en cargar el juego 🎯;-)
What was the idea over the symbols? Did they mean anything?
In order to advance to the next level you needed to find the pharaohs sarcophagus and the key, rest are chests for points
There’s also the papyrus symbol I can’t remember what it was for right now 😅
