2012 Avalanche there are two screws you need to remove. They’re near the left side of the blower and seems to hold a black plastic “scoop” that’s about 4” long before you can pull the locking tab down. Not a huge deal but the 2nd screw is behind it and completely blind. I got it out and I’m waiting on the new blower. Gonna be fun getting it back in. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for his video, didn't take more than 15 minutes to replace the blower on my 2012 Silverado. The one thing I had to do was remove the small plastic part to get to the locking tab but with a 4 mm socket that only took a minute.
There's a plastic part that is attached to the blower motor and away from it. I removed the 7/32 bolt but the plastic piece still seems to be attached where it connects away from the motor. How did you get the plastic piece off? This is on a 2014 2500HD, so it's the 2008-2012 body style.
Watched your video - from the time I started to finished was less than 20 minutes -- I only undid 2 of the screws on the right side .. bottom dropped down -- reached up - pull the tap - turned in clockwise - - motor dropped out ... unsnapped the connector which fit perfectly - pushed the new fan up -- made sure it was all seated -- turned it counter clockwise -- it locked -- put the two screws back in -- done -- 20 minutes ...
Yep, had to remove the small scoop. Not sure of the screw size but a 7/32 socket worked. I put off replacing the fan because I thought I would have to remove 1/2 the dash, not so. Thanks for the video!
I have a 2013 Silverado 1500... thought the resistor was bad cause it got to where it was either on high speed or nothing at all. I took it all apart. Put direct power to the blower motor and it worked fine. The resistor had very little corrosion so I cleaned that and tested with an ohmmeter. None of the terminals read infinite resistance. Turns out after all that all that needed to be done was jiggle the wiring harness from the blower motor to the resistor. Took about an hour start to finish and saved myself a couple hundred bucks. Kinda irritating that it could've been a 20 minute job if I would've just started by jiggling wires. I doubt all cases would be this easy but it's always worth a jiggle... thanks for the video though. Mine was quite different than this but it pointed me in the right direction. Have a good one.
Thanks for the video. I learned a lot from it. Just a suggestion, put some dielectric ( Light bulb) grease on all of your electrical connections. That will keep moisture and corrosion😀 out.
You need to be careful using that stuff on certain electrical connections though. It can cause resistance and from what I understand isn't supposed to be used on things like air bag connections.
@@jmc5341 That could be possible on some super low current connections. But any normal load carrying connection would not be a problem. I have used it even on some computer connections and have not had any problems so far.
@@imtruth69 I've never actually had a problem with that either myself, I believe it was Chrysler that had gave me that info years ago when looking into a problem with air bags that I was having a hard time with. I do exactly that though, anything with low current I only use it on the harness itself but not the actual connections.
Thank you for your help FYI on my 09 Yukon mine blower moter is flush with the dashboard same motion pull the clip down rotate to the right it will fall right out. Side note really try and remember way that clip is orientated when it comes out because it needs to go back exactly like that or it won't be set properly. You have to do this all by feel you can't get see what your doing a little bit more tuff to get it right but you'll know when it's in there right

If it's just making some racket but still working, you can spray some love into the small hole in the black plastic. Should take care of your issue. I used lithium grease into it with the tube that every can of lube has, and it took care of my issue. No need to replace it.
I watched about a minute and a half of your video, leaning over and punched the housing 2-3 times and boom. Air started circulating. I feel like Red Green.
Thanks for the quick information. Just bought a 2008 Yukon XL and it doesnt have working AC or . Will replace this if the fuse isnt bad. This aint much different than a 97 Silverado blower motor.
I think the replacement came with that long lead because some models the motor was actually hardwired in and you would have to cut the wires and splice them in. If you buy an oem blower motor and you have that hardwired style you have to buy a new pigtail.
Hi so I’ve just changed mine the blower motor that I took off house a tube screwed to the OE blower motor to a vent on the side of the heater AC body. The replacement motor that I have does not have this access. The vent appears to recycle air into the blower motor when attached. So I guess I’m gonna leave it open.
My 14 Yukon 5.3 front blower isn’t working. Replaced the relays and the resistor. Getting power to motor. Is it likely the motor? The rear ac still works but I think it has a separate blower
+jasonp825 thanks man I am going to check tomorrow I just know that sensor to fan goes out to and don't want to buy one and it be the other one its proble the fan it stop blowing one day turn the truck off cranked it back up and it worked now today I had it on high and it just stopped now won't work at all :/
My 08 silverado its blowing cold air but not as usual. The air is cold but Im only getting a little and I have my ac controls on full blast. Any recommendations on what to check first?

I have a 2012 Chevy malibu My ac doesn't blow I here the compressor come on I though it was the blower motor but when I took out and testedd it the motor spins so I tryed hooking knew one up and it didnt do anything so I then checked fuses I replaced relay still nothing could it possible be in the wire that ac blower motor connects to because before I could sometimes hit my foot underneath where its located and it would come on
Please help if u can; my ac works just fine sometimes!! But when it doesnt work, i get this message on my dash saying to "drive careful ice possible"; but its 99* outside. So can it be the blower or sensor??
Awesome thanks man, ill try everything u just mention, ill try the reset first, one thing that i didnt mention is that i did have my indash modified so i did remove the climate controlls and they were off for about 3weeks. B4 that everything worked ok.
hey all i am new here . my blower motor been in and out for a while now . it quit and wouldnt come back on so i winged it guessing it was a short . pulled the cover off and surr enough end of wiring harness burnt on the motor side . so anyone know where i can get the 2 wire harness from resistor to motor at ?

Where are the 4 screws located on the cover panel? I have the same vehicle and only can find 2 screws.

My 09 Tahoe rear is blowing hot aire while the front it’s blowing cold air could this be the problem??
The rear is a completely separate system, with the compressor/condenser being located in the very back passenger side panel.
