@13:20 The vocal director/sound engineer for this track is actually minGtion, the genius that gave us 'When this Rain Stops', and most recently 'Good, Bad, Ugly' from the FMR mini and 'Queendom' for the group. She was in the Queendom Restaurant video as well. @9:56 This whole section, with the way she pulled off that descending note so effortlessly? This is exactly how I felt. She IS ridiculous. RV as a group is a goddang miracle and we gotta give credit where it's due. But Wendy in the booth in particular is like watching a masterclass. I can't believe sometimes that we get to see her do her thing in the recording booth for free. I'm so glad SM has been posting these recording behind videos for their recent releases. Thanks for the reaction! Always looking forward to your videos.
As an aside... there is a "Producers talk about Red Velvet" video on TH-cam somewhere, amd many if them say the same thing about Joy. That she's an absolute technician in the studio. You can get from her exactly what you need in one or two takes, which is the highest praise a producer can give.
That's for the recording of Ladies Night, I think. That's an amazing song, almost all real instruments. There's some synth horn tracks in with the real horns, but I think that's it.
@15:50 I checked what that note was when I first listened to this because I was like HOLY moly Seulgi that is so low, I can just barely reach that note - it's an Eb3 if I'm not mistaken. O_O And then all of her off beats in her verse in verse 2?!?!?!?!?! It's soooooo great. I just looove seeing them recording, it makes me so happy. I have watched a little bit of a recording behind from a group that I like but is not SM - let's just say I love them so much but it's not because they have killer vocals? And anyway... the recording scenes were SO different... not as much and the feedback given to the group from the sound folks I honestly felt kinda ... made it worse? I was like oh....I felt bad for them, tbh. Seriously ReVeluv are blessed to be able to see this process and it feeds my love hate relationship with SM for how they both support making great music and then .... do very little else.
Don't feel too bad, Birthday became their first million-seller. Just out of curiosity, what group and song were you watching the behind the scenes of that you were mentioning? I'd be interested to check it out myself.
@riffgroove oh I don't want to mention them, it's not really about them. Since this is about Red Velvet, I just meant to say that Red Velvet recording behind scenes show such incredible range and skill and I always appreciate them. ❤️ I never feel bad for Red Velvet, they're amazing whether they break records or not 😀
Thanks for reacting to this video! Like you, I'm amazed with how the girls record their songs with their own backing vocals. I enjoy their synergy with their producer/sound engineer too! It's a genuine interaction that's so endearing!
Whoever edited this must have vocal experience, because they condensed all the important parts of a very long series of vocal tracking sessions. That requires knowledge of vocal tracking in general.
whats funny is as “mainstream” and famous rv are they dont let that overshadow their talent, wendy being one of the best vocalists of her generation surpassing vocal legends theirselves. her technique is so good🫶
@@SinghReacts At first listen of Birthday, I instantly loved this song. I knew they put in so much effort, even those barely audible countless harmonies. If time allows watch 'Red Velvet Birthday Recording version' by fan channel 'SmDuk DaJoa', they remade the whole song out of recording behind vocals, you can enjoy army of Wendys. 😅
You always recognize Wendy's vocal technique, that's why you're the only reactor I trust

Joy is incredibly accurate, and it’s what makes her live stages so amazing
Joy is insanely good
14:17 At the extreme left to Wendy in the video, that women is actually her Manager :) .. She also included her in to make the chorus more bright :D
Their recording vids are my therapy.
