Diana is an intriguing person. Unlike Dimash who came from a very musical family Diana had a very rough road to follow. She had an appalling early childhood being an unwanted child born to a woman who seemed to have serious problems and was neglected and abused before being abandoned at age 3.5. Welcome to the world of Diana. The problem with trying to brand her is that she can do everything, even change her voice. Her range is also about 3.5-4 octaves, holding a D6 with great ease. Additionally she can convey emotions when she sings. The biggest issue is that you have to watch her entire repertoire before trying to brand her. You will be incredibly confused once you are done because every single thing is possible with her in the vocal field. She is also the only one I know of who has no problems singing live and acapella also. It is much more difficult to figure out branding when an artist like this can do it all brilliantly and convey emotion and impress and gifted with a voice no one else has. I don’t know of any others really.
Ah yes, look at, for example, "Dune", "Rechenka", "We Remained", "Ornery Horses", "What A Wonderful World" and try and put Diana into a box. It's not going to work is it!

Yes, she is from Russia and she showed nearly 3 octaves here, from C3 to Bb5, in September 2021 (aged 18). She is now 20 and can go lower and higher. However, importantly, you picked up on Diana's unique tone and timbre. This performance was on Russian TV on a programme called "ShowMaskGoOn" - it's not a talent show, more a singing show where 9 artists sang 9 songs in various genres over the 9 week run of the show. The singers (along with a different guest judge each week) then critiqued and marked each other. For your next reaction, may I suggest going back a few years to 2018 when Diana, aged 14, appeared on "You Are Super" a talent show specifically for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Diana is 20 years old and her taste in music is still developing. In one of her last interviews, she said that her vocal abilities are enough to perform opera if desired. However, she has no such desire to perform opera and study opera vocals. She said that opera is the only musical genre that is not close to her and that she does not like. Let's hope that over time she will be able to truly try out this musical genre in order to feel its true taste :)

Diana can be classified as a Dramatic Contralto but too young for many in the classical industry to say that, so let's say Low Alto, Mezzo Soprano, Soprano. I mentioned Soprano because just last month, Diana, for a new years performance , sang a duet with Brandon Stone called The Day You... she sings up to a C6 sustained, ahhhhh, I'd call that soprano. She defies classification, gifted with harmonic overtones, unique physical anatomy, and resonators. Has sung in most genres, everything from classical to rap, folk, pop, jazz, accapella theater, OSTs. She composes music, writes lyrics, plays piano, and ukulele, dancer, an actress, arranges her compositions. She's an independent artist, doesn't want to be shoe horned into one type of music or genre, but has had many offers. Studies at a prominent school in moscow, Gitis, and will graduate this year. So, I believe big changes are coming at some point, 21 years old, this May 31st.

The reason it stopped where it stopped is that you watched a bootleg channel instead of Diana's channel. On her channel you could have heard her speaking and laughing after the performance. Her speaking and laughing voice is fairly deep, so the contralto comes naturally to her. If you are familiar with the movie, Misery, with Kathy Bates, I believe this version of the song would be perfect as a lead in for the movie. Two other artists who have deeper voices are Cher and Anne Murray.

She also has ability to sing with polyphonic overtones. She has performed songs and six different languages Russian, English, French, Spanish, Arabic and German. Diana is 20 years old and her taste in music is still developing. In one of her last interviews, she said that her vocal abilities are enough to perform opera if desired. However, she has no such desire to perform opera and study opera vocals. She said that opera is the only musical genre that is not close to her and that she does not like. Let's hope that over time she will be able to truly try out this musical genre in order to feel its true taste :)

For the experts and masters of voice and singing, it is a dramatic contra alto...for me as a simple mortal who likes all musical styles .... it is as if a Siren had escaped and hypnotizes us with her beautiful voice. She is very young, in that performance she was 19 years old only. A privilege to be alive and listen to her and Dimash.

Diana is magical. Totally unique. One of one. She's 18 here. Check out her cover of Wicked Game at 15 years old live on Russian TV...and let me tell you it's equally impressive, dark and atmospheric. If you want to see something new find her performance in the Hans Zimmer tribute when she covers the DUNE movie soundtrack (Paul's Dream). It's live with a full orchestra. Diana is currently in her last year at The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) and is 20 years old till May.

pozdrav zo Slovenska, ja Dianu sledujem už minimálne 5 rokov a toto nebola talentová súťaž, toto bola šou v Rusku, nikde inde niečo také nerobia. Tie odporúčania ísť na západ sú prehnané, myslím že ona má veľmi dobre zázemie doma v Rusku ,no neodmietam rôzne zahraničné koncerty. Dievča má ešte čas ,teraz študuje na najkvalitnejšej univerzite v Rusku. Žije v Moskve. Treba zájsť na jej kanál n you tube a tam má všetko od detstva keď začala spievať.

Diana can be classified as a Dramatic Contralto but too young for many in the classical industry to say that, so let's say Low Alto, Mezzo Soprano, Soprano. I mentioned Soprano because just last month, Diana, for a new years performance , sang a duet with Brandon Stone called The Day You... she sings up to a C6 sustained, ahhhhh, I'd call that soprano. She defies classification, gifted with harmonic overtones, unique physical anatomy, and resonators. Has sung in most genres, everything from classical to rap, folk, pop, jazz, accapella theater, OSTs. She composes music, writes lyrics, plays piano, and ukulele, dancer, an actress, arranges her compositions. She's an independent artist, doesn't want to be shoe horned into one type of music or genre, but has had many offers. Studies at a prominent school in moscow, Gitis, and will graduate this year. So, I believe big changes are coming at some point, 21 years old, this May 31st.

The reason it stopped where it stopped is that you watched a bootleg channel instead of Diana's channel. On her channel you could have heard her speaking and laughing after the performance. Her speaking and laughing voice is fairly deep, so the contralto comes naturally to her.
If you are familiar with the movie, Misery, with Kathy Bates, I believe this version of the song would be perfect as a lead in for the movie.
Two other artists who have deeper voices are Cher and Anne Murray.

Try for the latter try her performance on stage in St Petersburg doing a tribute to Hanz Zimmers Dune ... she's been a unique voice and shocking people since she was 13/14yo . If you want to experience her in her Shamanic mode listen to Rechenka or Crow she sings songs in 4or 5 languages.
