This is by far the best quality video on you tube for the job. Excellent video shooting, zeroing in on specific components, where to find bolts as well as tool size needed. They guy loves what he does. Thank you for providing such a detailed and even enjoyable video for someone who only barely knows how to change the oil. You took out all the guess work. Bravo!
@@TNG11Automotive hey, i was wondering about that vacuum pump gasket. the kit i purchased has a gasket with a lip all around on one side and the indentation of the lip on the other side. no one seems to know the orientation of this thing - lip outside towards the timing bracket or on the vacuum pump side. i ended up making one and using Loctite gasket sealant. do you have any idea?
Good question! What we did was make sure the indentation was facing towards the pump and the lip that pops out facing towards the timing gears , haven’t had any problems ever since ! :)
Great video thank you my vacuum pump seal is leaking badly when running. Very helpful video now I know what to do. What brand steering pump do you recommend?
Well as long as its a new pump, autozone and orielly sell there pumps from the same vendor so no worries and if your getting from online , just make sure its new and im sure you’ll be safe !
Why did you reseal the vacuum pump? Just curious? My cummins leaks engine oil from around the power steering pump. Is that the reason for you changing the seals?
Well for our truck it was leaking power steering fluid thats the reason why we resealed the vacuum pump apart from that, its one of those “take advantage while your already here” type of jobs kind of like when your doing a clutch replacement, might as well do the rear main seal so you wont have to take down everything again. But it might be the big seal thats infront of the vacuum pump
Great detail. Thanks

@@TNG11Automotive thank you again
What is the total time to do something like this start to finish
First timers will be around 4 hours maybe more but how i did it 3 times because of the pumps i was able to do it eventually within 1 hour
I noticed your doing the vacuum pump could that have caused the failure of the reman pumps?
Maybe but the driver wasnt broken so i dont see why it would , i put a new pump instead of a reman and everything works fine to this day !
Only asking because I’m replacing mine and bought a reman. I hope it works. I’m not a mechanic and this isn’t as easy for me. I got a new pump.
Yea i’d highly recommend a new one :)
