This is my #1 feel. When you feel it for the first time it’s very eye opening. Very short small tug at the top in back of you and the rest sort of naturally happens. You feel the weight of the club take off. Gained some distance and hit it in the middle more often. This is a GREAT feel / drill
I was taught this, many years ago. It's golf swing gold! If done correctly, you'll truly feel the weight of the club head at the top of your backswing.
I had thought it was throwing towards the target, but now I feel I may get it right throwing it into the ground behind me. I did have a friend who actually threw his driver 30 yards down the fairway. Since then, he has been known as... "His driver really goes far."
This. Is. Such. A. Great. Lesson! Yeaaaas! The way I think about it: pretend the grip doesn’t have tape/adhesive and try to slide the grip off the club from the top of the back swing… keeps hands ahead of the club head and yes, prevents casting wonderfully! Good swing feel… btw, is coach c from Scandinavia?
Carolin, really like this downswing tip of how to initiate the arms to increase lag. Like the fact you included need to shift towards the target to get this downswing started. What is confusing to us amateurs is which wrist angle you’re trying to increase? It looks like you’re increasing the vertical wrist hinge / wrist cock? If it’s already at 90 degrees to your lead arm, does it really help to try to increase that further? Won’t that simply lead to you cupping the lead wrist? Maybe it’s the trail wrist angle that you’re trying to increase? Please help? Also having avoiding the casting motion and created some club head lag in the downswing. When do you start to release it? Would this be a continuous release provided you move correctly into your lead side? Myles
I should have watched the video first. I threw half of my clubs into the water and took detailed notes, then planned on watching the video to improve my technique for the rest of them.
so width is the distance between your hands to your chest throughout the backswing (best seen from face on view) and depth is the relation of your hands to the center of your chest throughout the backswing (best seen from Down the line view). So the further behind the center (or left of the center of your chest) your hands are when you look at your swing half way back, the "deeper" you are. This applies to a right handed golfer. Let me know if that makes sense!
@ I think I get that. A lot of both are good...right? Also, trying to let my driver pass my hands has been absolute magic for me. Thanks again for that advice. I'd like to send you and your husband a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant for all your help!?
No it is more of pushing the handle away and behind you, this move doesnt pull down into the actuall downswing much but is really only the 5-10cm at the top of the swing.
@@coachcarolin Thanks. Do you have any advice for my problem of I can’t seperate my lower and upper body when I turn back or through which causes my rear shoulder to go out first instead of down which causes me to hit on the heel of my club ? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks again.
@@MrHaaspaul Yes, push - not pull; a mistake I made for quite awhile. Do both and feel the difference. Pull sometimes causes your wrists to begin to unhinge too soon (early release). Once I started the push (vs pull or drop), my lag increased and maintained better left arm straight thru the swing. Think not pulling down, but pushing the grip away, can be subtle. This game is so easy, not........
Never seen someone explain it this way. Tried it out and it made a big difference. Thank you!
That is a very good way of explaining the swing. If performed correctly that will solve a lot of issues in the swing, great job.
I'm so glad the throwing motion helped click!
Ohhhh, 'throw' it THAT direction! Nicely explained and very helpful. Off to the range to see if that helps with yardage, thanks.
Right on!
Been playing golf for a long time and this is the best explanation I’ve seen. Thanks
Worth a try!! Anything that would help me get my right shoulder to start down ⬇️ instead of out ➡️ would a gift!! 🎁

Great explanation and demonstration. I will give this a try tomorrow when I get out and play. Thanks
Game Changer, I used just now at the range and what a difference. You made my day!!!
Amazing!! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Carolin. That really helps. Hall
Looking forward to getting out on the range and giving this a try
Tried it on the course today and worked great. Thanks.
Very clear, I'll try it. Thanks for giving us this tip.

Great tip, helps reduce thoughts in your back swings, just throw it. Thanks

Awesome-it’s the ah ha moment. Thank you so much, taking a real pivots after the ball - who knew.
Beautiful explanation! Thank you
CC you rock - thanks!!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!

I am from Austria/Germany :) so close
@ …sorry coach; my next guess was Poland

I loved this tip! Just subscribed -
Interesting. I’m giving this a try!
Quick question. I hear a lot about width and depth in the swing. Do you mind explaining these?

Seems quite intuitive but effective ❤❤❤
Going to try this!!
Carolin reigns supreme once again
That is the first time I’ve ever heard that my right foot is only for decoration. L O L. Great video. Great information and knowledge.
It is!!! LOL
THANKS A LOT!
You're welcome!
Do you have a drill to help slow down your transition. I can't seem to stop rushing my down swing.
Pause for 2 seconds on the top, literally feel like you STOP, promise when you take a video it will actually look fluid.
Thank you
Great information! But I’d like to know how often you have to paint and repair the wall?
This is exactly what I’m working on this winter. You can ignore my dumb joke!
I think im casting the club. I have lots of left elbow pain after playing a round.
Throwing up watching this
I may have thrown a club or 2...
How r ur walls not all scratched/marked up
Lovely video 😊
Defined very well, throwing the butt of the club.
Have you ever put a hole in the hallway wall?
Not yet!
creating Sergi Garcia LAG
Isn’t that the same as….feel like your “pulling the club handle down” which most say is a BAD idea or thing to do in the downswing ?!
no its not
No it is more of pushing the handle away and behind you, this move doesnt pull down into the actuall downswing much but is really only the 5-10cm at the top of the swing.

Well if you literally practiced throwing the club towards the target, it would also give you the lag and release as a bonus.
Love the accent
"Throwing could prevent casting" *chuckle*....... *Shouts from cheap seats* "Nerd!"
Interesting
I throw my clubs…. After I hit the ball…🤪🤪
sorry, haven't golfed in my hallway since I was 7 years old. Must be kidding!!!
From hallway to fairway it’s not so far!
Then they tell you to stop casting and turn your hips more. If it isn't one thing it's another. Yeah just buy a new driver.
It would be a lot more credible if you weren’t in a hallway
This is horrible advice. Who throws the butt end if the club. Thats bot a natural motion. Does a pitcher try and hold the angle?
