They HAVE to respect it; the person with invisibility can initiate perfect offense and use it to zone. In HOTS since there's very few ways to gain vision, the fog of war / brush has even greater importance. Also, Fan fights over the globes as without it Valla won't sustain until she gets later talents. Every time Fan uses drain Valla has to vault out to disengage because the trading into it would be a losing battle. The result is that Valla has to play defensive while her vault is on cooldown which really constrains how aggressive she can be. Winning matchups is all about understanding under what situations the opponent is strong in and where you're strong and stacking the odds in your favor in EVERY way possible. Just because on paper you're weaker doesn't mean you're doomed; it just means it's going to require more optimal play.
Leo against the ranged is indeed painful and gets worse by using quick casting... Personally, using "on release" config. I know it's hard to switch between configs, but give it a try, you may want to use it instead of quick casting... at least until your wrist gets better😌
