Before i finish watching the end of this video, I'd just like to truly thank you Erik! I was obviously excited about the Open tomorrow and this just gave me the fix I was craving so that I can have a decent nights sleep! Regarding the so called "haters" who are negative about your score, jealously is a horrible trait, but that is their burden to bear. Please continue to make awesome content, I'm sure many of us can agree we enjoy cheering you on & the true perspective you display about golf. Again, THANK YOU! You make golf seem like more than just a sport. Its a million things in one. All equally beautiful & brilliant, yet it has access to emotions of anger and doubt that is unfathemable when in such a peaceful setting. Its why we love the game, it keeps us present, thats a gift.

Like watching a boxing match that went 12 rounds, hard fought to the end man and seriously amazed by the effort to get around the place. As for the elephant in the room, I think EAL and the RGC team put in the interaction with the members to show those newer to the game that yes you most likely will come across the stereotypical pompous arrogant wealthy guy on the course at some point. Just follow that example and kill them with kindness. As the conversation progressed from that point, it seemed as if they came around a bit and gave some support so with those guys it is always take what you can get. Proud of the effort man and 17b on!

There are a few things that I have taken from these two videos. 1, I have no doubt Eric could have broken 90 if he had of used his 3 or 5 wood off the tee more often. 2, score does matter. And don’t for one second tell me that Eric is not a competitive individual. 3, don’t let your ego decide what club you use Eric. Great course and great video. One last thing. You 4 putted the 9th.

  • @evandh1989

It is no joke how hard these courses are, especially mentally. I played Royal Lytham & St Annes a few years ago when I was still playing single-digit golf, and I put up 92. That wasn’t even from the tips, and the course wasn’t set up for The Open, but god almighty it was an exhausting round nonetheless. Still super fun though, and watching this guy take on Winged Foot is bringing back a lot of those great memories. Thanks for the videos!

Thanks for giving us unprecedented insight to this course just before the US Open. In a classic tale, Erik hooked when he needed it straight and cut when he needed the draw. a little session on the range can straighten that driver out. Yeah, classic CC members at the end, would love to see their round, hitting from the senior boxes probably cuts the course down by 1500 yards and they'd still blast over 90. nice video, thanks! Brian hit on a point that actually created a rule when I play golf. I use the "spectator rule". If I hit a ball in the rough just off the fairway or in some trees just off the fairway and I can't find it, but it would be found by 1k + spectators, I drop in the area I think it would be and play with no penalty. Now this has limits, you can't pull hook one over apartments and say well spectators would have found it. Cool rule for me when I hit one that wasn't that bad, but I just can't locate it under a leaf or in some tall grass.

I’d love to see the next session with @DanaDahlquistGolf cover the two-way miss off of the tee. I feel like it is challenging to get timing right of lower body / arms right with limited / no practice before round. I don’t imagine the 3 or 5 wood off of tee would have yielded many more fairways with that issue. I love all of the videos! That and buying some Vice Golf Balls ;) inspired me to get back on the course after a decade off. Donnacha

Dude that 5 iron on 10 was ripped. File that one in the memory bank! Also that tee you literally are the first person to take a divot on that pristine tee box which makes it even more epic.

Good effort, despite the length of the Winged Foot I'm not convinced driver off of the tee is the best option. Hitting a three wood 250 ish and giving yourself a look at the green is better then pulling a driver 230 with no chance of hitting the green.

Erik these videos are awesome. I've got an 8.7 index and the game has been touch and go this year. These videos inspired me to go out and play my home course from the tips, 7002 yards and 133 slope and I shot an 85. It was one of the most enjoyable rounds of just enjoying the process and playing each shot as it comes. Never played from the tips and it was a blast. Thanks for the inspiration and keep doing you.

Actually, your comment is what's wrong as you clearly don't understand the context and that he jokingly said that in response to EAL's "I love this place" comment.

@@arthurford829 If you can't tell that he was joking based on the context, the body language, the sarcasm and the laughing, that's pretty sad. You rush to judge people when you don't understand the man was joking - you're the problem. Here's a clue - the purple shirt guy said the course superintendent "hates golfers". Why do you think that is? Clear sarcasm when EAL says "I love this place".
