    I hope you enjoy this video. This is my ninety fIFTH "WHATS IN THE BOX" kit review and I hope to be completing this model when i have the necessary skills to do it the justice it deserves in a bout 10 years time. I have a model collection/stash of 33-40 1/72 Spitfires which i am currently building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow TH-camrs, As my competence levels are not sufficient to complete this model it will be held in reserve for when i deem the time is right. If you would like to see the of 33 Spitfires there is a link to my collection below. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic TH-cam skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.
    Follow me on my novice modelling journey whilst I try desperately to overcome my midlife crisis. Questions and suggestions always welcome. Please like and subscribe and follow me on my ride!
    Everything featured in this video has been paid for out of my own pocket. I am not endorsed by any person or company mentioned in this video.

      Thanks @ewmhop fantastic plastic is always fun. When i was a kid it was RAF green and brown wavy lines, Luftwaffe green and green straight lines, USAF silver. I also had a rather lonely white Zero.

      Yes well i wear brightly coloured, patterned, mismatched socks, so technically they are odd; though when you go mismatched it means (same design, different colours) or (same colours, different design), its kind of a psychological statement that basically says REBEL, though it is easily disguised beneath a pair of trousers.

    Hi Andy , good morning. That looks like a reasonably good kit. You should try a 1980s Revell kit , now they were bad. The propeller is not such a problem. Place the broken one on a flat surface , glue the blade on and then get the good one and put it on top of it. Then adjust the broken blade so it matches the position of the good one and the leave it to dry, simple. The rivets can be sanded down or removed completely , there is a tool you can buy with sets of spiked wheels that will allow you to create recessed rivets. The two canopies are for the two and single seat versions. I do like the engine details , also remember to put some weight in the nose or it will sit on its arse. When you show us the sprues put a black piece of paper on your wall , it will show them up better. Overall a good kit. Take your time with the silver paint. Don,t worry about the silver paint because no one panel was the same on silver aircraft. But spray the silver if you can for better results. Add a dark wash to highlight the panels once you have finished the paint job. I look forward to seeing how it looks later. Good luck bud.

      LOL Brian it is an 80's Revell kit, has Revell 1982 printed on the underside of the wing, i was going to sand it off but have decided to leave it as an example of 80's corporate panache. I am just about to go spray prime it, but have decided to hand paint this one as i find hand painting kind of relaxing.

      @@TheNoviceModeller Hi Andy. Hey mate I have hand painted most of my models over the years , I too enjoy doing it that way. Although now I cheat quite a bit by spraying with rattle cans. I do most of the groundwork first by can and then do the rest with acrylics by hand. Its a quick way of working through my many kits. Good luck to you bud. Enjoy the build , fingers crossed .

    Hey Andy, good looking kit, I didn't know that Revell built kits with the paint and glue supplied. Loved your description of the glue gloopy glue - sounds like a song the Monkees might have sung back in the 60's :-) The paint cans look very much like Humbrol. Never tried them but have heard they are pretty good. Will be anxious to see how the build out goes. Cheers Bob

      Thanks Bob, its pretty much built and ready to prime, though there is an interesting amount of filler LOL. Not exactly a great fitting kit this one and had a rather un-enjoyable time assembling the nose. LOL gloopy glue, i pinched that off another viewers comment back from when i started TH-cam and used some of the Humbrol supplied glues with an Airfix kit, i liked it and its kinda stuck.

      Hello there @AlanRoehrich9651 and thanks for watching, TBH with you i have had a bit of a mare with it, lots of filler added as many parts didn't really seem to fit too well, also made a sticky mess of the gun mounting as i didn't sequence them correctly, but hey ho, its now primed and ready to have some 30 year old paint thrown at it tomorrow.

    Looks interesting Andy. Not a great fan of revell myself but they do make some decent kits and regardless, I will still enjoy your build!
    I do like a p-38 and have only built the old matchbox 1/72. Good luck mate and have fun.

      I am not a great fan of Revell after putting this together either, though it is an 80's kit so meh. I bought this very early on, perhaps January and i just wanted a P-38 as they are pretty awesome. buy cheap buy twice i think the saying goes LOL.

    Revell made two around the same time, the other if you can find it builds either a P 38 e or an F 5 photo recon.

      Hello there @michaelvalenzuela2528 and thanks for watching. I have had a look on Scalemates, which is my go to source for kit info and Revell did release a e/f5 photo recon in 1999, with the possibility of French Air Force Markings (92066) so that is kind of an interesting one. I dont think i'll be visiting it though as i have had a few (probably my own fault) issues with this one.

    Hi Andy, Looks like this kit has the option of building it as a day fighter or a night fighter if it is a night fighter that would explain the two figures eg ., pilot and radar operator and the cockpit option.

    • @TheNoviceModeller
      @TheNoviceModeller  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Eric, someone else has pointed out the reason for the two pilots, i decided to go with the standard classic P-38 as well, bombs and rockets are a bit sexier LOL so it was a bit of a no brainer as the night fighter was drop tanks. Its pretty much done now, had a few mishaps along the way (as usual) but looks OK just about to do the decals...............maybe tomorrow LOL.
