We haven't finished school yet, and we are called failures. We are using the technology that you made and you get surprised. You made a mess in the world and left us to deal with it. We are being normal teenagers, are we ruining the economy right now?
We have to solve to promblems that we didnt do... -climate change -animals extinction -pollution -Economics debt.. Im afraid were going to have another great depression since US debt is in the 21 trillions. Yet gen z and alpha doesn't deserve this, we did little but the most is the other generstions that is older than us. They caused us to be ° depressed · axiety °sucidal · self-hatred
We have so much that older people blame Gen Z for stuff they did, forgetting that the oldest of them are 22, They also blame Gen alpha, where the oldest of them are 9, when you see 10 year olds commuting suicide, that’s why, that’s why you see so many kids whom are depressed, stressed, and anxious. Don’t blame Gen Z and Alpha for the mistakes of other generations when we were born into this and expected to fix it. Give us one reason why we should fix your mistakes in a world that we don’t like.
can we talk about how emotionless this crowd is?? he's literally being so friendly and making jokes, while they're all just sitting there, showing no emotion whatsoever ✋👁️👄👁️
Yea he was really friendly, but I believe the crowd are the parents from the past generation being telled that they screwed everything up with their children and just raised they so badly, which they partially did...Anyways, I agree, he deserved more applauses, crowd cheers and laughter.
Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. Maybe they are actually listening rather than only taking in the sensationalization. I don’t think it’s a slight against him, I think it’s them paying attention.
When I was about 10, my conservative grandpa told me “ I’m so sorry my generation has messed up the earth. Now it’s in you guys to fix our mistakes and I’m so sorry about that”

You’re right. Us Gen Xers were assholes& self-righteous. A ton of us had kids too young& Gen Xers are late bloomers, so....Most of us didn’t really grow up or find ourselves until our 30s and by then it was too late; we’d already shaped you guys, you kids were already grown.
I remember when I was 12, I'd always be told to act my age, but I was just acting 12. I was expected look and act like a grown woman. Gen. Z is being pushed to grow up too fast
Franchesca Mia *laughs in magnet school* ... But seriously, at 12 years old I was already being prepared to plan for what college I wanted to go to and what my career would be... You ain’t wrong.
Franchesca Mia well I’m 14 and have no goal in life. My parents are great, society is horrible Edit: not to be confused with what everyone else is saying. My school is always forcing us to choose what ‘path in life’ to take, as if high school basically defines and shapes your life based on the choices you make..... -_-
Exactly!! My mom even apologized yesterday! She started crying saying that she never gave me a childhood or anything, that I have the mindset of a 20 year old not my age! It was actually really different to see because I was always pushed to grow up and change things be better so it was really different
I heard from my phycology teacher that we are The most stressed generation he’s ever seen. Said something’ll never forget. “You guys are expected to do everything but aren’t given the resources to do anything”... really it’s f*cked up. We are overloaded, stressed to the breaking point, given ZERO help for mental health, usually only one (not trained) counselor PER SCHOOL! Half of us want to die everyday and 3/4 of us have extreme anxiety disorders. And we are expected to do MORE the past generations. My parents tell me that there’s nothing to be stressed about. Ok, is 2 papers, read 2 books, 7 pages of math work, with 6 extra worksheets, a science worksheet and lab, history notes, and vocabulary not stressful enough? Oh I forgot, keeping a social profile, keeping up with friends so they don’t ditch you, look right, talk right, hope you don’t look too tired, tell you parents you’re fine, mental breakdowns in school, trying not to fail but you don’t understand, depression in quarantine, the struggle to get out of bed in the morning..... is it not enough We’re just suffering in silence now..
Gen z is the generation with the most mental health problems. They really don’t get it. Things are so different now. It is so much harder. We are up till 3 in the morning trying to finish assignments. Plus you forgot to include all the tests we have to study for. It is impossible to keep up with everything. I spend so many nights just crying myself to sleep and having a mini panic attack cause I have no idea what to do. We are not prepared for this
@@hllyenaylleth9576 Who said they did so happily? Japan happens to have the highest suicide rates. Besides, war time and assignments are not comparable. Also being overloaded with work is a perfectly valid reason to be stressed. Not only do we feel overwhelmed, but we also end up sacrificing too much personal time, missing out on family events and holidays, blowing off friends and families, losing relationships and friendships due to distance, etc., all just to keep up with assignments and stay on top of the class. Lack of human interaction, personal time with hobbies, and hygiene is really bad for one's mental health, and it also causes the type of loneliness that hits you like a truck and eats you inside at 3am when you've finally finished the assignments and studying you started at 5pm. Please do not downplay the mental health effects caused by being overworked at school.

Isn't Gen Alpha still technically Gen Z? Cause generations tend to span 20ish year gaps thus making them later Gen Z where we're early Gen Z. True Gen Alpha wouldn't have been born until a few months ago
The sad part is that this video is never gonna reach the people who actually need to hear it, the only comments I see are from gen Zs. That's the real problem.
Another millenial here, i fully understand the situation you guys are going through, it is perhaps even worse, but you guys are stronger than you realize. Don't let grumpy old folks bring you down, and we millenials should also do what we can to aid you.
Right, and they get mad at us for trying to fight for whats right when we have grown up with movies and some music telling us about what society has done and all these standards and how the government is unfair and needs to be overthrown.
Yeah until you go to Twitter and say anything even considered mildly offensive 😒 my generation seriously doesn't have a sense of humor anymore and the whole Anti-Bullying bs isn't making them any better prepared for the real world Edit: basically just making a generation of naive people with a lack of knowledge of how predatory human behavior can be, making them a easy target for anyone with I'll intent
Solve what ??? All u guys do is make tiktoks and cry . It’s such a bs fairytale this video . A couple generations ago kids got beat up by teachers and parents . I got hit by my dad and it was normal . Yet u are the one with “real” problems . It’s so bs . Everything in society is BETTER than in the past
These “issues” seem to be self-created issues. With all due respect to the speaker here, he’s clearly missing the mark and making excuses. We have gotten to a point to where life is truly SO GOOD, then we must create problems to “fix”… everything is solved; generation Z just needs to be more innovative. I can see how that is difficult, given the massive strides made in the past 200 years, particularly the past twenty years. What else is left to create? What technology? … 21st century innovators seem to be far and few in between. Innovation is what needs to be focused on, not political talking points.

When he started talking about how children need to be connected to their parents hearts, I started to tear up. I can't even look into my parents eyes without feeling like i'm going to be yelled at. Whenever I hear a loud noise I flinch. Whenever I see my parents I stop breathing. whenever I'm around my parents I want to cry.
Hey it's okay I know how you feel . It's sad , that most of the time our parents don't listen to us or doubt us . It's okay I know you can get through it . Just stay strong :)
as a millennial I've noticed something. Old videos talk about how "the next generation will save the world" and "our kids will do great things" all the way back to the start of video. Newspapers and books printed the same sentiments even farther back. It's been a game of pass the buck for well over a hundred years. "I couldn't do it, so I'll pass the buck to my kid. Surely they can do what i couldn't." No. You want us to do what you procrastinated on and now that the time limit to get it done is coming to an end you can't decide if we're gonna be great and fix it or if we've failed to do it in time. The problem isn't us, it's YOU for putting the whole world in our laps and doing nothing to help. YOU failed and now you're yelling at US for YOUR failures??? Shut up and get to work. If you want us to save the world then start being a better example of what you expect us to do about it because WE'RE NOT THE ONES WITH ALL THE POWER.
It's like one of those fantasy stories with a chosen one trope; a charater is thrown into a world where they are the proclaimed "the chosen one/savor of our world" but is overwhelmed by the expecteion of being "the savor of the world" and supposedly make everything better
@@Skept1cal_269 What's funny to me is how the generations can be summed up at all. No one can even agree whether I'm a millenial or gen z still as a cusp (though sounds like they've decided I'm a millenial), yet that would supposedly change so much about me. Whether I'm the wealthy entitled one or the poor scapegoated kid of them. My kids would be gen alpha, if I ever wanted to subject them to this world.

In the future I really hope to be a better parent. My parents shut the door on me and left me to figure it out on my own. They want me to be "independent" but for independence I don't need emotional neglect.
We're being forced to grow up too fast. They say we're lazy. We show them our work and say we're trying. Its not good enough, they say. They say we're lazy and should be functioning members of society. We just want to be kids, we cry. We're ignored.
The thing here is, they are not helping you or anyone, they are only helping themselves and using prejudice to fill their ego. I call it, the sociopath in disguise.
i feel as though us gen zers are stiffled in every way possible. we get criticized for the internet, but when we try to go out and change the world we get told that we dont know what we're talking about
Whenever I overhear discussions about my generation (Gen Z), all I hear about is the skyrocketing suicide rates and cases of clinical depression. How this generation is edging towards one of the worst mental health epidemics in years and years. It makes me conflicted when I want to try to tell them why we’re so mentally destroyed, but I know they’ll just see me as another screwed up 13 year old trying to face the small world that makes up my life. It makes me feel like I’m just another statistic. It doesn’t help that I’m a perfect example for the very issue discussed.
KilljoyTrashid For me, I hear “Oh it’s their phones,” when my phone actually really helped me with social anxiety. For me, it’s an escape from the thoughts in my mind that have been there since before the phone in my hands. It didn’t cause it, it helped it. My mother always demands an explanation for my feelings, which I believe many adults do, when sometimes there just isn’t one. No, nothing happened at school. No, nothing happened with my friend. I’m just miserable for no good reason other than my brain is imbalanced. And I think this is something many of those in Gen Z have to deal with (though I could be wrong).
Honestly, my phone destroyed my mental health, ruined my sleep schedule, ravaged any hope of me gaining even the most basic of social skills, and deeply affected my work habits in school. It's been three, four years since then and I'm still trying to climb out of the hole I've dug for myself. This path may have been unavoidable - but surrounding myself with so much negativity and self-deprecation sure didn't help. My phone made submersing myself into such a place that much easier. I hated myself for the longest time (still do) and I cannot communicate with people to reach out. Some people say that their phones and social media helped them climb out of such a hole. My experience, though, has been quite the opposite. Going through a depressive, anxious phase as a teen is inevitable. But, in my experience, social media and the junk we're listening to only worsen it.
I understand that such experiences exist, on both ends. But for me, I didn't get my phone until the eighth grade when I had been dealing with suicidal thoughts since around the fifth (severity of episodes varies). Personally, I only use one social media, TH-cam. But I have seen the effects of others (though I cannot name them). My phone neither helps nor hinders my life, the main thing holding me back is my physical inability to talk. This is why therapy has had no effect on me, though I do recommend seeing a professional for issues if you can. There are numerous things I want to tell those who can help me seek help, but whenever I try, my mother is quick to point fingers at whatever caused her seemingly happy, normal child to even show signs of mental instability (I was born to fill the hole in her heart that her mother-my grandmother- left behind when she died, which I believe is one of the reasons she envisions me to be something I most certainly am not). That or my mentality drags me back into it's familiar security of silence. Enough about me, I apologize for rambling. I'm sorry that your phone had such a negative impact on you, and that my apologies will never be enough to try and help you. But I cannot help but do so, I'm sorry.
I don't know how old you are but do whatever you can to seek help. Nevermind your mother if she is unwilling to help. Your mental health is of utmost importance and no one should get in the way of that.
Just hearing someone from an older generation say "I'm sorry" really hit me differently. Because I hear a lot of the things he said in this video, about our generation being entitled and lazy, but never anyone take responsibility for making us this way. They just blame us for how we were raised.

@@brett8259 I am a young 23 year dancer and have seen a lot. Now one consistent factor is that nothing really has changed in human nature. TEDx crowds are never the most engaging or fun crowds. They mostly just sit there and stare at you and wait for their cue to clap. Even Kermit the Frog couldn't make them react. Makes me wonder why these people actually go to these events.
Boomers: "Gen Z is destroying our earth!" Also boomers: "Gen Z is gonna be the generation of change!" Like damn, pick an answer. Do you hate us or not?
I'd rather have them hate us and than having to keep changing their mind. At least we know exactly how they think of us now. We're walking on eggshells 24/7 and we don't know when to talk to the boomers because their mood swings are unpredictable. They're happy and 1 second later they're livid. "oh come on! Stop being so antisocial! Come out of your room and talk to your family!" They laugh at one thing then the next day that same thing just flips a switch on them and they just bash you. I just reluctantly accepted that I have a toxic family and my relationship with them is full of both, high notes and low notes.
And that, my friends, is what we call toxicity, sprinkled in with a little bit of emotional manipulation. In situations like these, we run fast and we run far, because in no way are we obligated to put up with that sort of bullcrap

My father told her that I was under pressure for "studies" and was stressing out so bad. And can you imagine what my mother said???? Here are her words "You never focus on your studies and always on that damn phone and that is why on this point of time you have to get stressed to complete you left portion. I hope you're doing a little better now. She probably can't remember what it was like when she was in school or just has no idea how to deal with the emotions of others and possibly herself. I have a narcissist as a dad so I know it can be hard.
Cling to your father. Tell your mother, with no accusation or anger in your voice, that she hurt your feelings and you don't want to be yelled at when your already hurt, and if she still doesn't seem to care ask her why she's yelling at you, and if yelling is her way of showing her love and care because if it is, that love and care is certainly not getting across. But seriously, cling to your dad, and try to be there for him in his troubles the way he tried to be there for yours. Also, I recommend you listen to the band BTS because they might help you have the words to express yourself.
Hey, I've been through this kinda thing, and all these comments are really helpful, but personally I was really angry because it almost seemed like they were making excuses and repeating the same things you try to tell yourself over an over like, "They were just raised in a different time," so if you want to be angry and vent don't worry about it, I got you.
We are impatient because we don't like waiting, we value time and we don't like wasting it. We get distracted for exactly what he said, we are in a messy place and we want to fix it.

So I am sorry and I wish I could have that level of accomplishment but I sometimes just feel like a five year old with how little I understand about this complex world of things I was sheilded from growing up that was suddenly tossed into head first a few years ago.
How I see it is: If you’re apart of Gen Z (as myself), then you’re in the “Can’t Sleep because Everything Is Constantly Changing and It’s Eat or Be Eaten” Era. With the access of so much information, can you honestly expect us to never be doing anything? I could do everything on my phone from reading books to submitting digital paperwork to applying for jobs. The possibilities are endless. To add onto that, it means school curriculums are steadily growing. You quite literally cannot rest too much or you’ll fall behind. God forbid we do get a chance to rest and you see it as not using time constructively. At this rate, your child needs to know the fundamentals of Quantum Physics the moment they pop out the womb. As much as I’m motivated to do better and actively be better, I get tired too. Shoot! I haven’t even properly started college yet. Can I get a chance to make mistakes? The answer is no. We’re expected to just _know_ and stay 16 steps ahead of problems. Like I said though, I get tired too.... and I’m pretty sure most of the Generation is still in school....
Exactly! I felt like this when I was back in school, and I got too overwhelmed because there was so much I needed to do to keep up with everyone and I didn't give myself time to rest, and I suffered so much because of it. From my mental declining to my physical health declining to my social life, everything was falling apart and I had no support from my family and society (the exception being a few of my friends and teachers whom I've made connections with). Up to this day, whenever I make mistakes at home, I always get shouted at even though I usually learn from all my mistakes after making them once or twice, but I wouldn't have learnt anything if I didn't make these mistakes in the first place! And even after I learned my lesson, I still made some mistakes because of how tired I was and how there never seemed to be an end to the things I need to do so I can finally get the rest I need, or to do research on stuff I don't know but am pressured to just automatically *know*... It's exhausting honestly

I had to catch my bus at six thirty am too, you can tell I'm tired. I got about five hours of sleep
It's 2:30 on a school night and I'm up revising for a chemistry test whilst also worrying about the future. They always tell us mental health is more important than school work until it comes down to actually doing the schoolwork. It's either get it done or get a detention. Over the last couple of weeks I have slowly but surely regressed into the worst mental state I think I've ever been in and no one's even noticed because I'm fine on the outside but then it's the evening and I honestly completely lose my will to live. If that doesn't sum up our generation I don't know what does.

I have always thought of respect as a two way street, if I respect you, you should respect me. If you refuse, don't be mad when I take away my respect.
@JackOfSpades My old English teacher complained to the entire class about the students not respecting her, then she proceeded to yell at a student for giving her attitude... it was literally just the way he spoke and he'd been in her class all year.
@JackOfSpades I'm legit in the same situation. My grandpa is very rude in a lot of ways. I understand that my grandpa has been through a lot of things and his life hasn't been the easiest, but that's no excuse to treat someone badly. My mom tells me to respect him, but I think about it just like how elementary school taught us. "Treat others the way you want to be treated." Funny how the ones teaching us are the ones that can't follow their own advice. I really agree that it goes both ways, again, you give what you get. I hope that both our families one day understand

I’m with Nihlm on this. I’ve been bullied throughout the entirely of primary school and nobody helped me. Even throughout high school, the only time anyone cared was when I snapped, but I wasn't supported. We're definitely more accepting, but we aren’t handling bullying.
Nihlm I agree with you in my school people don’t really bully they just talk about you behind your back and judge you no one is rude to your face everyone is fake lol
i come from a small city in india and even here my classmates (junior year) and kids below us are pretty accepting its beautiful to see change happen at such low levels
I would say the biggest problem in my generation is how hard it is to remain emotionally and mentally stable and also feeling like your parents are failing you cause you all never talk and yet Live in the same house
The "modern family" (in general) can't seem to put their cell phones down long enough to have a basic conversation about their days let alone a deep conversation about emotions. Gen Z isn't the only generation with a phone addiction problem.
VOI Personal problem, but either way most others with this problem is because of phones and gaming consoles 🤷🏻♂️. And I think the biggest problem with our generation is that nobody understands basic human nature. So touché I guess.
I like "Tolerance is given, respect is earned". I respect everyone who respects me, and if someone disrespects me, I will tolerate them and accept their choices and our differences, but I don't have to respect them. Tolerance means that I will leave them alone and they can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't impede on the happiness of myself and others. It is their life after all and neither them nor me hold all the answers. If someone disrespects me and I notice that they are making an honest attempt to change and apologize, that is worthy of respect, because it takes immense guts to not just admit your shortcomings, but work on improving them. If, on the other hand, someone repeatedly disrespects me and keeps throwing empty apologies and platitudes my way, you can bet that even my tolerance will wear thin at some point, and that I will have no qualms about cutting that person out of my life for good. I tolerate their decisions, but I don't need them in my life. Life is too short to surround yourself with toxic people, but they are people nonetheless and deserve the base line of tolerance we afford to everyone. Anything above that is earned.
I heard someone commit suicide and heard an elder one say "they died and left their loved ones at such a hard time. No kid should do that. They should tell things to their parents." And i felt the disgust. No one commits suicide without thinking about the things they are leaving their loved ones with. No one eventually goes like "bye i am leaving this world" and dies.. It takes so much effort. Every depressed persom thinks about their loved ones before they take such decision! They prevent themselves so much times just because they can give their people hard times due to their death but when no one feels like caring or giving a hand of help to them when they are down, they can't help it. They tried and tried and then made the decision. Suicide is not normal. If people cared more about someone who is living through everything hard, there would have been less chances of such cases. Everyone deserves a hug, no one deserves to die in this world by such causes at such young age.

2004. Honestly I don’t want much. I just want to not be interrupted when I speak. I want adults to listen to me or anyone else if we are right and their wrong. I just want to not be told that I’m wrong when I’m correct because of my age.
I feel this so damn hard. A person shouldn't be judged for their age or heritage, but their brains and actions. Being born in 2000 almost feels like being born was apparently just a disease to many others who are judgmental. Obviously not all older generations are judgmental and downright rude, but just enough are to brutally kill some people's hopes of being anything more than a failure. For example, the majority of older folks who surrounded my life growing up had already written me off. Being born on a bit of a pedestal in my community only worsened it so people simultaneously expected everything and nothing from me. I wish that people in general--not even only the older people--would drop their instinctual judgements on others and instead shape their views off of what individuals they meet are ACTUALLY like (instead of everything being assumption based). I know this was a bit of a long rant, but thanks if you read through it lol.

I recently read The diary of a young girl:Anne Frank... I realised that even her generation has the same problems like our generation and none has been able to confide in their parents. Now it's not a matter of generation because she and us are so many years apart. There must be a reason. There must be a fault .. WE ought to find that. THE ADULTS TREAT US LIKE KIDS, BUT EXPECT US TO BEHAVE LIKE GROWN UPS..... Edit:7-01-20. I will keep editing and updating until it has reached others so an answer can be found.
the answer is from a famous quote, can't quote it atm but it goes a lil bit something like this "the generation before us believe they are smarter and more intelligent than us and we believe we are smarter and more intelligent than the on coming after" so every generation thus far knows that there was faulty thinking in the earlier generation, since most in the same generation can agree that they know they're not that bad. But the big problem is that they don't acknowledge that that faulty thinking travels to each generation whether you want it or not, it's not a matter of not adopting it, it's a matter of learning to erase it.

Whenever politics get brought up with family friends I always state my opinion and I always get shut down. It’s always “you’re too young to know what your talking about” but what? Suddenly I turn 18 and have a political opinion? Just because I’m young, just because I’m in gen z, i can’t be educated? My words don’t matter? My mom once told me during a fight to give her my phone bc I was “talking back” and she said the words “you don’t get to dictate your life. I do.” Why doesn’t my voice matter? Just because you don’t like what I have to say? What I do with my life? I’m tired of being “too young” to have an opinion. I’m tired of not being able to “dictate” my own life. I’m tired of feeling like I’m being OWNED. Like I’m just some piece of property or something, just because I’m in Gen z.
Then they hit you with the "You're life is actually really good we just need you to try!" and it's the most painful thing cause you believe then for no reason.
I completely agree. just because I'm young I don't understand politics and government. nobody wants to listen to what I have to say. They invalidate my emotions and opinions just because they think I'm too young to have them.
I’m not told directly that my opinion doesn’t matter, I just simply feel it when I state something during a large family dinner. I say what I want, than silence and they completely change the subject or over talk me :) because I’m young and shouldn’t be dealing with problems like this. I remember a baby boomer coming into my job to get help with a pc. She needed my help picking it out. I walked her around the displays, answered her questions, and as I was explaining this to her, she looked me dead in the face and said "well, you would know, wouldn't you? That's all your generation is good for anyway. But what was this port for again". For the record, it was a USB-C port, but my point is that we hear this kind of thing far too much and are simply expected to stand there and feel undervalued in out low paying jobs and take it with a smile. And then people wonder why we are so unhappy. I agree with EVERYTHING he said in this post, and I want to thank him for taking the time to talk about it. It's like my grandma said: "A whole generation can't raise another whole generation of failures without being worse failures themselves, and they need to stop projecting their standards and experiences onto other people who they don't apply to, especially their kids." She knows were are not failures, and the way her generation talks about us disgusts her. She's in awe of out intelligence, and when she talks about the future we have in store, it nearly makes her cry because she feels so bad for us because as bad as her life was, she knows that ours will be worse in ways she said she wouldn't wish on anyone. This video is so important. Thank you.
@Gotta Sneeze "the boomers will all die out soon anyways." Right, because Gen Xers and millennials are SO much more tolerant and loving to zoomers. They never ever say things like "kids these days" or "YOU KIDS HAVE IT EASY." Yes, my post is sarcastic. Older generations in general have a negative view of generation Z. It has nothing to do with boomers solely.
The reason people call us “lazy” is because whenever we try to actually do something they tell us “let the grown ups handle it” so we’ve given up on trying to do anything.

A majority of us are teenagers and even if they were adults they have barely even gotten a good job or are still in college or something dealing with student loans...
I'm on track to medical school, treasurer in national honors society, hold a position in student council, have lettered in math league 4 years in a row, took college classes in high school, forsook my social life completely for academics, and still my parents say I'm lazy and have everything easy. I'm not getting a cent from them for college, I've worked a part time job for years while applying for every scholarship and grant in the country, just to go home and see my dad's disappointed face. I can officially say at this point, they are just a-holes and can't be satisfied. Forget what your parents want for you, do what makes you happy.
And to add insult to injury, it could get annoying and stressful to hear to be seen as a liability from the people who criticize this generation, it seems as if you're in a microscope and one mistake you make will be used against you
It sad how our ancestors have caused so many problems that that's like the only thing we can talk about these days. Like no one actually talks about anything positive these days we all have anxiety and depression and we're ok with it

Okay here’s the thing Gen Z consists predominately of teenagers and children. How can you begin to judge a generation who hasn’t even had a chance to make their mark on the world yet? They’re all too young. Sure, maybe in 10/15 years you can start making judgements, but until the majority of them are adults, you can’t judge them as such. You’re all comparing them to gen x,y and millennials when probably 1/8 of them are even old enough to get jobs. Many of these traits are typical of a teenager. Gen Z are being judged on their ability to be productive adults before they’re even of age, which has never been the case before. I think y’all need to let them live a little. Because the addition of technology doesn’t give them the chance to prove themselves at ten years old.
Riley H damn... my teen hood in a nutshell, I’m a 21 year old Gen Z baby and I grew up raising my brothers when my mom would drink and gamble, I was raised by my grandmother, I was sheltered and stuck being either grounded and only school was refuge, and when I was with grandma I learned much more than school ever could, my mom is a Millennial from 1980 my dad at least was a great father and gave me wisdom he’s from Gen X, not only could I use my phone to contact him, it was my ONLY way to contact him for the majority and when I did see him it was rough to leave him behind and when his grandma died in 2014 he moved to South Dakota so now I only can talk on the phone so I rarely see him (I’m glad he found away to come to my graduation) but that life never stopped me from finding what I love to do, Animate, make music, and play video games and hope to make them and critique some. I developed my own self worth after I got married and branched away from my mom to live with my wonderful wife! Things have been rough and are still rough, I lost most of my wiser and kinder relatives including that grandma I mentioned, I have no grandfathers they all died when I was stupidly young, I was raised by women with no real father figures in person just over the phone or having an abusive stepfather that went crazy because of my mom. So in short before it gets even more crazy, I as a Gen Z “delinquent” have found refuge in creating my own worlds as many before me had and will continue to do. God as my witness I will complete my goal and finish what I started 10 years ago and make my series a real thing and show the world what I have to tell even if it means it was all for nothing, I only wish to finish it after so much dedication and hard work.

Well said. There's a reason why our generation is considered the most mentally unstable. They just don't wanna hear it (the parents/guardians I mean).

Older gen z: well I am in college with no clue what I am doing with my life and struggling to interact with other human beings much less getting a job. So I am sorry and I wish I could have that level of accomplishment but I sometimes just feel like a five year old with how little I understand about this complex world of things I was sheilded from growing up that was suddenly tossed into head first a few years ago.
So accurate
@@phantasmtheater6015 And you seem to be about as worthless as the generation you raised.
Lmao tru
True true. I am in 8th grade and got to bed at 1 am this morning and I started my homework/studying as soon as I got home. Give us a chance to breathe!!! It's break now (today was last day) and now I need to start projects and preparation for next semester
Edit was because I put 7th grade instead of 8th grade. I had to catch my bus at six thirty am too, you can tell I'm tired. I got about five hours of sleep
I am 14 and SO tired, my teachers even tell me to rest and don’t study too hard, but I can’t!
I’m still in 6th, just turned twelve, you know what though? I had eye bags 4 in fourth grade, they haven’t gone away. I’ve been keeping all of my grades above 90 get upset that my PE GRADE is at 80 because I need to better to survive and I know that,. When I was EIGHT I had ADULTS talking bad about me and I didn’t even know. I could go on and on but I need to do all of my home tasks in 5 hours, as I come home from school at 5 in the afternoon

I know this is weird just thought it was relevant.
It is relevant, Wisdom is universal, going out of the bounds of genre and era.
Wouldn't "there's no such thing as a bad kid only a bad parent" make more sense even if it's a movie quote

Older Generations: Respect your elders
Me: Why can't we all just respect each other?
I have always thought of respect as a two way street, if I respect you, you should respect me. If you refuse, don't be mad when I take away my respect.
@@bisexial_disaster2795 exactly
My logic is simple. If u want respect from me, u have to earn it. It's not like every elder in this world is worth respect.

Maybe where you live, but where I live people still love bullying people just because they disagree on something that doesn't even matter
I’m with Nihlm on this. I’ve been bullied throughout the entirely of primary school and nobody helped me. Even throughout high school, the only time anyone cared was when I snapped, but I wasn't supported.
We're definitely more accepting, but we aren’t handling bullying.

i come from a small city in india and even here my classmates (junior year) and kids below us are pretty accepting its beautiful to see change happen at such low levels
I would say the biggest problem in my generation is how hard it is to remain emotionally and mentally stable and also feeling like your parents are failing you cause you all never talk and yet Live in the same house
That´s a personal problem, not a generation problem.
True for me too. My parents are always working and we don't talk that often.
The "modern family" (in general) can't seem to put their cell phones down long enough to have a basic conversation about their days let alone a deep conversation about emotions. Gen Z isn't the only generation with a phone addiction problem.
I just don’t like talking to my parents. I don’t enjoy it.
VOI Personal problem, but either way most others with this problem is because of phones and gaming consoles 🤷🏻♂️. And I think the biggest problem with our generation is that nobody understands basic human nature. So touché I guess.
"Are should respect your elders."
Change that to "You should respect your young folk just as much as elders.
Respect your elders is just a ploy so we don’t argue and back the older people into a corner
Justa_SnowMoth BLM You can’t back them into a corner mainly because of little lines like, “Is that backtalk, boy?” And of course “Respect your elders”
Respect, who deserve it
When older people say "respect" they mean as an authority, when younger people say "respect" they mean as a person.
You know it's awful when even children are committing suicide/seriously thinking about it.
Please, stop this mess.
well at least i managed to recover from that fÆces
It has happened in the past too media just covered it up
I heard someone commit suicide and heard an elder one say "they died and left their loved ones at such a hard time.

Don't tell us to learn about the world, then condemn us for talking about changing the world.
I recently read The diary of a young girl:Anne Frank... I realised that even her generation has the same problems like our generation and none has been able to confide in their parents.

Thank you.

He try to make a few jokes but no one laugh
They were good too
4nubsinatub Yee yeah i was thinking that too. The crowd is just boring lol
Brendan ODonnell they are, the audio is coming from the speakers mic and not the audience - you can hear it more clearly at the end :)
the mic isn’t picking up the audio
I tried to laugh but I was crying, not that I was there, but it's extremely hard to laugh in emotional situations.
that cone joke was gold, I can’t believe no one laughed
No it was orange
I’m sorry that was bad-
True
I think that they only play the audio from the stage, and not the reactions from the audience
As Lemon Peach said they record the talk seperately and audience must be very loud to be heard on recording. Which I suppose is mostly achieved at beggining or ted talks add the starting applause and ending one. You can see the same happening in other talks.
Boomers/Gen X: Gen Z is the worst generation.
Also Boomers/Gen X: *Literally destroys the entire planet*
Alyssa Graves I don’t about that but okay 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Trigger Me6 ok boomer
Trigger Me6 Aww that’s cute. I actually skipped a grade for being so smart and have a gpa of 4.0. Yet here a boomer is telling me I have a IQ level of 25, if that were the case i wouldn’t even be able to figure out how to use this app. How old are you? Are you sure you’re not gen alpha?
Trigger Me6 If my brain cells were dead I wouldn’t be able to function rn, but, OK BOOMER.
Trigger Me6, we have an angry boomer people.
when he said, "So i want to apologize to all of the members of generation z for whatever part i played in making this world a mess," everything he could have done was immediately forgiven just by that one line and his whole speech. we need more people like this man.
“Gen Z has it easy and doesn’t work at all”

False.
Basic
Gen Z are ages 4 to 24, only a minor part of our generation are adults. The majority of us are still kids.
@@afishkabob1954 False. The range of gen Z is 1995-2010.
A majority of us are teenagers and even if they were adults they have barely even gotten a good job or are still in college or something dealing with student loans...
EvilErrorYT yeah that’s true
I'm on track to medical school, treasurer in national honors society, hold a position in student council, have lettered in math league 4 years in a row, took college classes in high school, forsook my social life completely for academics, and still my parents say I'm lazy and have everything easy. I'm not getting a cent from them for college, I've worked a part time job for years while applying for every scholarship and grant in the country, just to go home and see my dad's disappointed face.
I can officially say at this point, they are just a-holes and can't be satisfied. Forget what your parents want for you, do what makes you happy.
Just know that I'm proud of you (even if I'm younger than you)
I know I’m a complete stranger but I just wanted to say I’m proud of you!
I’m very proud of our generation
Dude same!! I'm proud of you, proud of us for pushing through, we'll make it.
youre too good for your parents anyway
I’m 16 and he is totally right. A lot of the time I get stressed and anxious about all the problems we have in this world.
And to add insult to injury, it could get annoying and stressful to hear to be seen as a liability from the people who criticize this generation, it seems as if you're in a microscope and one mistake you make will be used against you
Every generation felt the same at your age
I mean I have anxiety disorder but same, about half of my panic attacks are about how I wont be able to save the world
Ughhh, yes. I hate it
I'm younger than that and I'm constantly worried about climate change
It sad how our ancestors have caused so many problems that that's like the only thing we can talk about these days. Like no one actually talks about anything positive these days we all have anxiety and depression and we're ok with it
We use our anxiety and depression to build a community when we aren't supposed to be anxious/depressed in the first place.
man the audience are kinda salty.
There’s no mic in the audience, that’s why you can’t hear them well
Ellie B and they are probably old
*internal rage*
Ali Jr. The audience is highschool students...
Imagination Deprivation Oh nvm
“Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.” --George Orwell
*basically my way of saying 'ok boomer'
idk man kinda sounds like you're just trying to sound more intelligent than the generations that went before you
But it's also like admitting the other way around; it's a two ways phrase
審美的な幻覚 *totally missing the point*
Actually Gen Z also consists of young adults (basically college kids) oldest 23 to children (ages 6-17) youngest 6
The youngest person in gen z is 10 the oldest is 24
dabdab bamham no the oldest of generation z are 23 years olds born in 1995. The youngest of Gez Z are 6 year olds born in 2012.
Im in middle school and I was on a vid and one guy told me after I said I was in middle school that I was a "pansy" and no one wanted to hear it until "I actually did sonething important". Once again I am in middle school but I plan to be an author and go to college for business. I had already told him this and I was like???? What do you want from me? Im pretty sure this guy probably didnt do anything to amazing in middle school either tbh.
I remember back in the fourth grade my school had a robotics competition. My science teacher (who was my idol at the time) made a speech. The theme of the contest was "space exploration" and he talked about how our generation will one day have to fix the world's problems and make advancements. He said that he was honored to be given the chance to educate us. I didn't get it then, but now I think about that everyday.
wtf is wrong with this audience theyre stone silent when he makes jokes
The audios coming from the mic on his mouth so its not supposed to pick up the crowds reactions
LinEx I heard a bit of laughter. I guarantee if the whole audience was laughing, you'd hear it very loudly like all the other vids. This audience is just kinda dead
No offense, but we're supposed to listen to the speaker, not the audience.
@@xKazIsKoolx what's wrong with being quiet, it's hard to hear a speaker when millions of people are just obnoxiously making noise
@@xKazIsKoolx still I don't get why being quiet in an audience is a bad thing, shouting something just only brings attention to you
Being blamed for being glued to your phone
What I’m I supposed to do, play outside? Sure that would be amazing but the only thing outside is streets and pollution and crime.
Exactly my mom says to get off my phone, but I’m not even allowed to cross the streets for the fear of murder and kidknapping is there.
There was literally a shooting near a store of mine, expect me to go outside?
I mean, unless you live next to a factory or in a very crime ridden area going outside every now and then isnt going to hurt yuou
I can’t play outside because my grandma is scared of the stray dogs and the local drug dealers
And whose fault is it? Baby boomers
Highschool has just gotten harder, and it's hard for parents to understand.
Not to mention you can't just walk in and apply for a job. We'd get laughed at. Finding jobs is so much harder for us.
Exactly, adults don’t seem to understand this isn’t the same world they grew up in. There have been times where I’ve had to ask my mother for help on school work, and she told me she didn’t learn that in school. We're expected to know more, and we have much higher expectations for how we handle ourselves.
High school isn’t hard....
