Thanks Andy. I enjoyed that comparison very much. Western USA ghost towns with lots of 1800s iron, tin, and typical period targets along with mineralization are tough to hunt. Thanks for all of your work.
Hi Andy. Thanks for your testing efforts. This is how detectors SHOULD BE TESTED - in the wild and compared to one another. As you stated, the Apex is a capable detector; the firmware could use a little refinement. I bought the Apex in late 2020 and have used it since, along with a D2-9". Sometimes, the Apex is all I need at a site and when it's paired with the 5x8 coil, its a breeze to swing. I have compared the two machines at an old homesite and find that it is easier to cherry-pick the sounds with the D2, and can get a little deeper with the D2. The extra depth and unmasking with the D2 allowed me to pull a couple more good targets from this site. But I spent a lot more money on the D2-9" setup, so I expect superior performance. Still, the Apex paired with the right coil for the site and the wireless Z-Lynk headphones and pin pointer is a great combination for the money spent. I'm looking forward to your next videos on the detectors showdown. 😎
Relics and Rings, Thank you for the comparisons. You didn’t mention the update version for the detectors, so when you do the gold comparison, please make sure the Deus 2 and Manticore are using the most recent update version.
In the first video I did I indicated I was running the latest software versions on all the metal detectors unless indicated. Sorry if you either missed that or didn't watch the first video. I just update the video description with that info.
Nice comparison. But in that place with many small iron in the ground you will not find smaller coins or low conducted targets with those MDs... For better understanding why watch my tests with MD that can find better in iron infested areas
Enjoyed that Andy. Thanks for putting in the work to get these made - it's appreciated!
Thanks, Dave. Glad you find them helpful.

Thanks Jeff. Yes Western ghost towns are tough sites. I was surprised at how well some of the detectors did.
