    Crazy seeing this video come up. I just bought one of these myself and am in the process of upgrading it to the gills. So far, I have an Arc A380 and two 500GB NVMe SSDs with a USB-C card, front USB-C port, and Xeon E-2274G coming over the next few days.

    Now that I see that yours only has the single heat pipe cooler, I'm not surprised the temps were so high. Upgrading it to something like the ID Cooling IS-55 or the IS-67 XT would make a big difference, as would adding a rear 60mm fan. That's what I've done in mine with the i7 9700. You have to do a little modification to the mounting hardware so that you can just screw the cooler directly to the standoffs in the system, but it's pretty simple and the results are pretty good.

      @@basicdadtechNo problem. All you need to do to get either of them to work is to use the Intel hardware with the AMD screws. I had to use a drill bit to open up the holes to be able to use them, but then you don't have to worry about trying to use the intel backplate. I have the IS-55 cooling my i7 9700, with all limits removed, at 4.4GHz in an all-core run of Cinebench it's in the mid 80s after a 30 minute run.

      @TheGameBench 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DarkKnight-lh4gr I'm going to assume this is for the tower, as the 120 Mini wont' fit in the SFF. Anyhow, I've never bought the 120 Mini, but I assume the hardware is similar to the IS-55, in that they intend for you to use the included backplate for Intel and do not provide one for AMD since it's already included with the motherboard. So, what you will have to do is use the Intel mounting hardware minus the backplate since you want o screw into the factory mounting. Since HP uses 6-32 for the screw threading, like AMD, you will need to use the AMD screws with the Intel bracket. However, the screw holes on the brackets might not be big enough to fit the AMD screws. If so, you will need to use a drill to open up the holes a little. Then you should be able to mount everything up.

    Seems like a tidy SFF PC that would fit under the TV in the living room. Whats the power draw on this? As some of us still worry about that, also less power the longer it will last. Also in your test please included ChimeraOS as that is the most game like system we can use to turn something like that into a gaming console.

    The temps could be high because of the crappy TIM Intel used between the CPU die and the heatspreader. Delidding the CPU would most likely help.

    people just like seeing bigger number on the top left corner totally unaware of the benefits of capping Framerate from better latency to lower power usage and leaving decent hardware headroom for doing other things in the background e.g Recording/Streaming.

    The only problem with these older systems is they don't do modern applications very well.
    I bought an A310 ARC card to use with my i7-8700T as a Plex server. Encoding a single 4K movie to send to my phone over the internet is pushing the CPU to 100%, I think for the audio that the AV1 encoder isn't performing. I never had a problem before I started serving 4K movies.
    I was very surprised to see the CPU run pegged at 100% for a single HW encoding. The ARC card was only running about 20% utilization. I'm now looking at a Dell 3240 compact with a i7-10700 for my Plex server.

    • @TheGameBench
      @TheGameBench 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Why are you using the CPU to transcode AV1 when you have an A310? Of course the CPU is going to have trouble keeping up with that as the CPU is doing software encdoing because it doesn't have AV1 support. The 10700 isn't going to be a lot better since it doesn't either and will have to resort to software encoding. Just use the A310 for transcoding. If you want to use the CPU, then I suggest at least getting an 11th Gen CPU as the media engine has AV1 support and you can just use Quicksync to do the transcodes. A system like this should have no problem doing what you're asking it to do if you were using the A310 to transcode.

    • @Shadow_Banned_Conservative
      @Shadow_Banned_Conservative 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheGameBench I'm not using the CPU to transcode, Plex is using the A310. From what I remember reading the CPU will code the audio portion. I verified in case the settings were defaulted back to the no hardware setting. Plex has "Intel(R) Arc(TM) A310 LP Graphics" selected at the hardware transcoding device and my I7-8700T is struggling with a single 4K transcode to my phone off the network. 1080 and SD are not a problem, it's only the extra work of the 4K movies.

    • @TheGameBench
      @TheGameBench 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Shadow_Banned_Conservative Well, that being the case, the CPU is always going to be used to transcode the audio in Plex, and it doesn't matter what CPU you use, it encodes big chunks all at once. It's going to hit any CPU hard until it's done initially and might at other points in the movie. That's just how Plex works. Your CPU is fine. If you want to play files on devices that don't support surround formats, it's a good idea to include a compatibility track that doesn't need to be transcoded.

      @Extensier 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tested the rtx 4060 lp in this machine paired with the i5-9500. Power draw in prime95 and furmark running simultaniously is around 240-250 watts. So the 310W power supply is totally fine. I used a SATA to 6-pin adaptor. Not the best, but seems ok for this setup.

    • @lukeorgan9605
      @lukeorgan9605 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have been successfully running the 4060 LP with the 310W PSU with a dual SATA to 8 Pin to power the card. It’s being pushed quite hard on a 1440p ultrawide with high settings and gets warm in there, to the point where I have removed the side panel to help. It’s not so much the GPU but the processor is toasty.
