    The process I learned to make iced coffee is a pour over with 40% less pouring liquid; instead of the missing water you put ice in the bottom of the vessel, it melts as the coffee drips onto it while simultaneously cooling the coffee, but nothing is diluted. You also use a stronger grounds to water ratio to account for the cold. It's a 5 min process start to finish and the resulting drink is already cold and can be poured over additional ice or coffee ice cubes!

    Great vid Thank you. However I'd like to suggest that you make ""Cold Brew Ice Cubes"" This way the cold brew drinks you sell to your customers, DOES NOT Get Watered Down with regular ice melted into water Diluting the remaining cold brew in the cup. Especially in Summer's heat when people generally are driving their cars.
    Our local privately owned coffee Cafe makes cold brew cubes adding them to cold coffee drinks. Ohhhhhh So Good.❤❤❤

    Great video bruh. You really educated a coffee novice like myself on the difference. I was thinking of getting into cold brew and you just gave me the better benefits over just ice. Thank you.

    Great, just ordered the Oxo Compact Cold Coffee Maker, convenient, small space and super flavorful. My coffee house offers it but left untried. I shall make my own from a great source of local roaster. This should be a new horizon for my coffee palette.

      Make your base in the French press and then pour it into a pitcher and refrigerate until you're ready to make your drink.

    I work for Chick-fil-A. We serve iced coffee, however, it is made by pouring coffee extract into fresh water and refrigerating. we serve original and vanilla iced coffee then we have a mocha cream cold brew which we make by using shake base (sweetened milk) and chocolate syrup. Technically Chick-fil-A should be calling ALL of their coffees "vanilla cold brew" and "original cold brew" and "mocha cream cold brew" instead of calling original and vanilla "iced coffee" because the coffee base is all made from cold brew. Interesting.

    OK, sounds like a lot of good information, but question: why the coarse ground? Wouldn't a finer ground work just as well? Strongly considering producing some cold brew for home, but don't have a grinder at present.

    • @ispirarecoffee
      @ispirarecoffee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question it has to do with the surface area of the ground coffee because you’re steep in it overnight or for 16-18hrs. Plus the find coffee will go through the filter.

    Can you steep it in the refrigerator? Does it makes a difference im taste vs room temperature? Also, whar about different roasts? What is recommended? And younsaid it can last a wek, but where? In the refrigerator or room temperature?

    • @ispirarecoffee
      @ispirarecoffee  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It shouldn't make much difference. The roasts are up to your preference - remember the cold brew process will take a lot of the acidity out of the taste. We use our Allegheny Blend. (ispirarecoffee.square.site/product/allegheny-blend-coffee/107?cs=true&cst=custom) Yes a week in the fridge.

    • @veganpotterthevegan
      @veganpotterthevegan 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ispirarecoffee that's not really how the brewing process works. Hot water gets more overall extraction which means more acidity(comparing that same coffee cold brewed). Cold brewing is less acidic because it takes less of what's in the bean, it's removing less. It's not taking acidity out.

    The extraction rates are typically lower in cold brew than hot-iced (unless the ratio is 1:1 😂).
    Also the flavor is different, in our opinion (in a side by side cupping with the same coffee beans) iced tasted better than cold brew.

    If you don't want the watery coffee because of melted ice try using coffee ice cubes, frozen stainless steel sphere, or even the plastic ice cubes to flash chill the coffee before pouring over ice

      It will go bad in a few hours, because of the extraction process with the hot water. Steeping in room temperature will make it last longer.

    hot brew is room temperature ground coffee poured with hot water and cold brew would be good if hot ground coffee poured with room temperature water no 'fermentation' suppose with room temperature ground coffee..

    I don't think this video gives iced coffee a fair shake. First of all, any decent barista would adjust the brew ratio so that the coffee doesn't taste watered down. Second, cold brew isn't really suited for lighter oasts and more fruity/floral flavors, you know, the aort of coffees that are really valued in specialty coffee. If for some reason yo make bad batch of Cols Brew that'll a lot of coffe and time wasted.
