IIT prof's advice to students successful in JEE

Students often feel on top of the world after succeeding JEE. However, before joining college, they need to understand and remember certain crucial points. In this video, I discuss three such very important points:
    1. At the very beginning, one cannot relax.
    2. If students have not gotten their preferred Department, instead of feeling sad they should try to find out the best things about their Department - they will be pleasantly surprised.
    3. If their rank has been high enough, they need to realize that a difference of a few marks would have completely changed the picture. And, they need to keep working. It is possible that lower-ranked students will start outperforming them in a couple of years.

    1. "Don't get relaxed yet. First sem exam in mid-september (2 and 1/2 months away). Will get proper summer break after 1st year over. Perform well in 1st sem or else get depressed by 1st sem result (very hard to overcome)."
    2. "Do your own extensive research on the branch/dept. You are getting and explore how many interesting things are there to do in it.
    3. "Don't mind uncle or aunties giving remarks on your branch. Their remarks are based upon media hype created over few branches. Let their insignificant comments drown in their own sense of mediocrity coz they don't know what's best branch suited for u or what is taught in the branch u are in."
    4. "Don't get arrogant upon getting very good AIR or college coz it's just a matter of few marks and ur rank or college would have been different. Be proud and grateful for achieving this result and don't see others as lesser than u. After going to college many underachievers can also overtake high achievers."
    5. "Have 'shraddha' for ur alloted branch with whole heart. Be devoted to learning new things in the branch and work hard to achieve success in it."
Lastly, enjoy mom's hand cooking before missing it in any college u go. (Especially while eating in mess) 😊
My personal opinion is no branch is irrelevant or scope-less in college, else the highly qualified and knowledgeable professors won't be teaching or keeping it.❤🙏🌟

I am Getting *SMVIT Btech CSE AIML* Bengaluru and *IIT PATNA BSc CS and Data Analytics* hybrid (online+offline)course..
      Which should I take...
SMVIT is among top 10 colleges of benglore and it costs me around 20 lakhs for CSE
while IIT Patna is costs 2.4 lakhs but it is a BSc in Computer Science hybrid degree
      1) should I take BOTH, will i get enough time and energy to take both together? total cost will be 22-24 lakhs
      2) Or I should Go with IIT PATNA BSc CSDA and study only useful subject which are in btech in which are relevent after 4 years...(as some part of syllabus are out of date in this time in btech)
      3) OR should I only opt Btech CSE AIML from SMVIT as regular

It's so refreshing to have a channel like this on TH-cam.
The "JEE TH-cam CHANNELS" market is so dominated by bhaiyas and didis who disguise their channels as "strategy/advice/motivational" channels but in turn, end up blinding us with their flashy lifestyle at college, controversies, extremely dangerous advice etc, packaged with heavy editing... they build their fan following and end up selling courses.
And there's this channel, genuinely grounded and practical advice from a knowledgeable elder ( IIT PROF :)

Well, finally, I got my intended department (Physics) in IIT KGP 😄. Although it's not a circuital branch, still I am very much interested in Astronomy and Astrophysics, so I wanted to study Physics as an undergrad, from the top institution of our country. Initially, in Rounds 1,2 3 4 and 5 of JoSAA, I got Exploration Geophysics in IIT KGP. Realizing its promising future and the fact that even in the 6th round, I will get Geophysics only, I started to accept it, even though my dream was not fulfilled. But to my pleasant surprise, in the 6th round, I got Physics. Now no more tension of going for branch change to physics from geophysics, no more frustration and depression. I am grateful for what I got, not arrogant at all.....✌

Actually, it is written that way for every course. The reason is that the entire batch of students coming in the first year will be divided into two blocks. Each block will have 10 sections each. One block will do a certain combination of subjects in the Autumn Semester, and the other block will do the remaining subjects. Then in the Spring Semester, they will flip. So, by the end of 1st year, all the students will end up doing all the subjects. Once a student actually gets enrolled in the Institute, he will get to know which block he will be in. Don't worry ... all in good time! :)

Brother, you are underestimating yourself, if you work hard, you can get IIT, and if you do not work hard, you can still get a decent NIT/IIIT. I shall give you my own example. I was not a hard-working student in my twelfth grade at all, still I am getting decent NIT/IIIT this year, I got 94.04 percentile, my WBJEE rank was 1619, I am getting Jadavpur University, my IISER aptitude test rank is 2386, I am getting 5 IISER's. But I am not getting IIT/top NIT. So, just work hard and you will get IIT, for other colleges, you do not need to work very hard. Hard work is the only solution to your problem.

Three key takeaways from this, Milestones are not the end, they are the beginning of next step. It is so important to set the momentum in the beginning for the next 4 years. Whatever you have chosen, pursue it with devotion. End of the day, it is still your choice. And humbly accept the situation you are in, whether they are achievements or failures. I remember a statement my friend's son told him after first semester. "I am not learning the subject but I am learning how to learn for the rest of my life". Many fail to realize that the tone you set in college holds good for the rest of your life.
