Those guys on the other side will find it very hard to cross to the other side when that seal feels like it’s territory is being breached. The Leopard seal is one of the most territorial types of seals only being a step down from elephant seals and Walruses.
No, leopard seals very very rarely attack humans, and they never hunt us (most attacks are deemed to be territorial, relating to hunting grounds). So combine the rarity if the attacks in general and the fact this isn't a hunting ground. It would be super unlucky for the girl to have been attacked.

I’ve hunted and fished my whole life. They are exceptionally fast for short distances but if you want to underestimate a wild animal be my guest.
