    What other sets have you seen selling for crazy high prices?

      I have seen the 1989 Batman sets selling for about $500 for the Batmobile and $350 for the batwing which I have a copy of both sealed that I plan to keep.

      The Upside Down Stranger Things set exploded in value after retirement.

    Here is another factor you have to account for... the collector/investor. The LEGO "Investor" was virtually non existent during the run of these 1,000+ sets. Now investors are looking for and hoarding 100's--1,000's of sets. Production is higher for most sets and more themes. Your less likely to see something like a modern UCS set to hit 3 or 4X.

      I think it depends if it’s been hoarded a lot, how fast they produce a similar set and how long you’re willing to wait.. but I think the colosseum for example could it 3X in a few years

      I believe you’re right, but I also think Lego has never been more in demand than it is today. Lego never made an effort to market to adults before the last couple of years. So I don’t think we’ll see the same crazy jumps like green grocer or those huge Star Wars sets, but I also think there’s still a lot of room for growth on the market.

      I remember when the first Death Star was out a lot of people were hoarding it - this was around 10 years ago, the market was already there. They were all waiting for it to retire so they could sell it for triple the price (the UCS MF was going for 5k already around that time). Then the reissue came out immediately after the first one was discontinued, which hurt those investments greatly. But now I see that both versions seem to be doing alright on the secondary market.

    First of all, I have been watching a lot of your videos and keep coming to you since I like how you talk about lego investment. To follow you on the green Grocer, Market Street and Cafe Corner are doing pretty well and I think at the time they were around $90 and $130. I mean look at that growth. I am really bit annoyed about those sets because at the time I had the Market street and Green Grocer just displayed and sold them after and doubled my money at the time. That was ok but missed the opportunity of buying sealed sets to resell. Maybe it just wasn't really the time I guess either for investing knowledge or having Cashflow at the time, shame....
    But I built a market street again for myself like you said the Holy Grail of lego investing in new condition pieces but had to buy second hand old pieces like the white Hoses on older space sets, the Light bluish grey doors on creator House and a few old bars... Managed to find those Dark blue arches on new bionicle sets. It still Cost me around $300-400 to have a mint one with all the old pieces at the time but yeah still is sound. The problem with the greengrocer is those 1X8 sand green bricks. Hope you find a solution there. Keep it up

    Who pays for UCS Death Star for $1500 when you can pick up a new one from eBay for $700-$900?

      people who don't use eBay! I know, it's crazy, but it happens a lot

    Once again, incredible evidence of how successful this can be! NOW, let’s go the other way, which sets were considered BAD investments. What’s considered a bad Lego investment, in terms on ROI. Do you make a loss? A huge loss ? Or, do you just make a less than expected ROI? Let see the pitfalls, the risks and the results of those risks, not to disprove this model of investing, but just to give the full picture.

      This video right here is about high-priced sets. If you want to see an example of a poor investment, I made a video called "I Messed Up". I give the exact numbers in that video.

      @Blackfire-Five 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BrickBucks yes I watched that and found it really interesting, and even then a ‘bad’ investment still made you a profit (albeit a much smaller one than you are probably used to). But have you got examples when on average a set has made a loss? That was just one set, perhaps there are others?

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Blackfire-Five no, not really. Almost all investments I've made have at least broken even or at the very least, lost just a couple of bucks. Buying at low prices creates a cushion from losing money even if the set doesn't perform well as an investment

    This also get me to think what if I invested in Pokemon booster box instead of Queens Anne or Black Pearl back in 2012, the return would be more than 10x, but If I invested in Pokemon box in 2020 instead of Death Star, I might got burned lol. Lego might not meant to be a long turn investment, it's more of a short time (3-5 year) flip.

    I had the Queens Anne Revenge and Black Pearl. Got both of them on Clearance at WalMart for about $80 each. Sold both of them a few years ago. I got an incredible return on both. Probably the highest return I have ever received! Just wish I would have bought more 😂

      I've got a couple of both PoC ships stashed. Still sealed.
      I remember buying at Meijers on clearance. Might still have orange clearance tags on them. Have to dig them out one day.
