I wish people would learn that nobody "truly" care's about what's going on in your life outside of you. Unless you have a massive following and a large group of fan's who care. And it's nothing but an annoyance to see 1000's of phone's with the light's on at concerts now. That one of the main reason I quit going tbh. Everyone thinks there the main character now. When truthfully. Nobody really matters in the end. Just enjoy the moment, Stop trying to record it to enjoy it later.

I was an Uber driver a few years back.
I once picked up an older aged, little Asian guy in Baltimore City and drive him out to the county. The whole time he was explaining to me that his job was to pay young thugs for the Iphones that they stole and he resells them to the person that he delivers them to. He was paying them hundreds for the phone and he was getting an excellent return.

My phone then was tracked to the airport and then last tracked in Bulgaria last August before it disappeared forever, I’m assuming it was stripped for parts not long after that. It’s a horrible experience losing your phone and worse if someone steals it. My phone was stolen in London (came to know later that the city is known for such crimes) and later sent to Dubai and from there ended up in shenzhen, china. Beware of your belongings in the UK, it is stated that over 90,000/- phones are stolen per annum and this number increases yearly as the police do not help at all. In my experience, the police completely ignored my complaints and took no action to help recover the phone even after I consistently informed them about the whole incident being on cctv cameras and since the thief was a Romanian begging lady in that area, it should’ve been a very easy recovery had they taken interest. It’s unfortunate that London police don’t bother to help with such crimes and indirectly this encourages theft as the thieves know that no action will be taken for such crimes. Extremely Disappointing.

I used my husband's phone to call it, turn on and off my music, just anything to find it and some woman picked it up and asked this random guy who was in the lane near me if it was his. THANKFULLY I was facing that way and saw him put it in his back pocket. I snatched it right out and told him he should have given it to an employee there; that he was disgusting and shameful for trying to steal someone else's property. I know it can because I've done it before. Just about any persistent data storage can be recovered. Once you understand how it erases it you can reverse it. I might lose a little data on the end but in phones it's even less than a hard drive wipe that rewrites zeros. It's often just a quick register shift to clear the initialization parameters for the hardware.

Holy smokes, I was literally talking to a friend of mine yesterday about how my phone was stolen back in 2015. I was studying abroad in Thailand and was renting a home. For my birthday, my parents and came and visited. The night before my birthday, someone had broken, and stolen both mine and my parents phones. My dad and I had a Samsung and my mom had a iPhone. Somehow the individual who had stolen our phone had turned off the "Find My" on my mom's phone. Since we reported our phones stolen, my parents were able to get new phones as well get a SIM with the same numbers. I decided to get a new number with a new phone (as only my friends and parents had my old number). But this is where it gets weird, once every few months, my parents and I would get phone calls from my old phone (as my parents "technically" had the same number). Whenever we would answer the phone, we could hear people talking in Thai (and in some instances we could hear other asian languages being spoken). After almost about 6-8 months, the phone calls stoped all together. Fast forward to 2018, my parents and I decided to make a trip back to Thailand for the holidays, we were surprised to get another call again, and the same thing would occur. No one would answer us, but we could hear people talking in the background.

No clue why this wasn't mentioned- but ALL of the software attacks used to override IOS on stolen phones is prevented with lockdown mode.
Lockdown mode prevents computers from talking to the phone parts meaning the motherboard and touch sensor - both items wanted - become useless. (they attempt software overrides to retain use of motherboard) You won't get your phone back but they won't get as much use out of it. Devices are stolen for their motherboards, batteries and touch sensor. Motherboard and Touch ID becomes useless once lock-down is on.

My phone is holstered in a belt loop on my hip and I never go to crowded venues. If a thief somehow still manages to get my phone from me they will end up with my ... flip phone LOL

You simply have to use a Linux operating system now...
You can't trust big tech with your data anyway...
Mobile phones and tablets using Android and Apple's IOS are just spy appliances...
You can hang with the crowd and just be wimpy like everyone else...

Prevention shouldn't be the key. Instead, Punishment should be it. Thieves will think twice if they want to risk 10 years in prison for a phone. The current slaps on the wrist are laughable and are no deterrent at all.

My iPhone was stolen out of my house a couple years ago but turns out it was the neighborhood crackhead. 🤷‍♀️ Story #2- Went to the bathroom and left my phone on the counter. Noticed immediately it was gone, grabbed my friends phone and called it and it rang in some random dude’s pocket. I had it set to flash colors when it rang so not only did I hear it, I SAW it through his pocket! 😂

I would request customs officers to thoroughly check shipments containing phones, iPads, laptops, notepads, and other such electronics and turn on the devices to check if they have been marked stolen and also record imei numbers for the items to be tagged to the sender so atleast the sender can be held accountable if the package includes any device reported stolen.
