Hello friends of #LoveCycles Can you believe that we’re closing in on NYC? In Oregon, it seemed impossibly far...but not anymore. So grateful to have the Erie Canal trail to take us gently across NY.
First time looking through your channel on TH-cam. Funny to watch this episode. I spent many years living along the Erie Canal in Medina and Albion and actually graduated from Albion High School. 👍
I spent the first 25 years of my life in Rochester, NY. I have been traveling the last 6 years and decided to move out to Colorado, for college. It's good to see my home biking trail. I would love to ride the whole thing. I have done a lot day hikes on, but not very much bike riding. I have really enjoyed following your adventure across the United States.
Ryan!! I commute year round in Rochester NY and used to take the bridge you and Ali road on! (14:15) Every time I ride there now, I'll always think about that time you rode through my home city. You're an inspiration to living car free, best wishes! -Jake
You guys are so adorable. I mean really adorable and I know adorable. In fact adorable at a whole new level of adorable. Really good stuff guys. Thanks.
Hello Ryan, What a small world it is or how we can pick out things from our travels, places, people, etc. After I made my last comment, Literally about ten minutes Ali said she was from New Paltz(?), NY. Well, that blew my mind. BTW, I love the rockies. I like your videos of the Great Divide trail. My mom lived in Loveland for most of her life. I was out there only a few times and just feel in love with the people and nature there. I am 54 and 30 at heart. Life is to short for all the great to see. thanks for sharing your travels and knowledge. so cool.
Ryan your smile and laugh are so contagious. You forget your comment when you see it. hahaha You get amnesia hahaha and Ali is so sweet. I like what she said about humans. She is that red cherry on top of the cake. What she said makes you wanna melt. Give yourselves a hug for the goodness of humanity. Love you both and have a good day!
I love your mantra you say before each trip “no crashies, no whammies, no flatties” . It is said differently some occasions, I would like to know how you say it so I can make T-shirt’s for you and Ali ❤️ Love watching your videos... def motivated me to purchase my 1st Trek bike. I would love to put one of your stickers on my new Verve 2. 🙏
21:43 - In this present, rather narcissistic society, somehow the idea that a relationship shouldn't change you took hold. "You shouldn't lose yourself in your relationship," is a phrase I hear often among younger people. I'm 60 years old and have helped raise five children and I can tell you that a *healthy, working* relationship absolutely *should* change *both* people, because if they're spending any quality time together (as you two are), they're inevitably moving towards each other, blending emotionally, spiritually, physically, financially, recreationally, etc. If that's not happening, you're growing apart, whether you think so or not. A good example is your girlfriend, who wasn't a TH-camr and felt a bit awkward with the concept initially, is now very comfortable with it and actively and happily participating. As a fellow road cyclist and motorcyclist, I'm very much enjoying your travels. Thank you for creating and sharing them.
I have got the bug watching the love series after watching some of your bike tours. When I first saw Ali she reminded me of a New yorker.... Well, after several hours of watching your videos....lol. Ali says she is from NY. I am currently in Poughkeepsie, NY, but I lived in Knoxville, TN area most of my life and made some great friends from NY that moved there. They actually look like they could be sisters or cousins. anyway, I am loving this tour of your life right now. Keep on loving life to the fullest. I am sorry to hear you guys split but remain friends which is great.
Great video! The scenery from Niagara Falls and along the canal would be a great ride - such a great adventure and great advice from your friend and his wife.
Hello Ryan & Ali, we love watching all your videos and the adventures you have. Beautifully made and an inspiration for us to keep cycling and running. You make it fun and we are always looking forward to the next one 👍😊
What a nice couple in Canada at the beginning of this video! They set you up with a camp site and cooked breakfast with pancakes and maple syrup. Awesome! The tourist boat, umm, well, everyone looked like a red gummy bear or something similar.
I love how Allie points out how we humans have a natural attraction to natural wonder. I thinks it says a lot about the fundamental needs of us regardless of social pressure.
Erie Canal is on my list of trails.. I know this is true with you.. When people ask you what is your favorite adventure? I bet you say the next one.. there is no bad days on a bike.. Another spectacular video.. Crossing the border by bike.. never done it.. very cool...
I had been waiting and hoping that there would be a Niagara episode, and glad that there is. I visited this place long time ago in the 80s and loved it much. I hope someday I may visit it again. Nice video guys 👍👍👍
Really enjoyed this. Y’all are great story tellers. The story is awesome, the cinematography is beautiful, the background music adds just the right ambient, the pacing is perfect, your edits are smooth and the transitions are easy and I love the two stars of the show. You are very likable and relatable people. Sad that this journey is coming to an end. I will miss this much.
Hey Ryan great scenery from Niagara.in this video I Could put u a million thumbs up,(it was that good)but for now take 1 worth a million. Great love advise from the last couple.
Your videos are the best. I love them. I makes me sooo happy every time I see a new video from you. 👍🏻You guys are the best at making these bike videos😘I am gonna miss that music when you guys enter a new state and the happy dance.
One of my favorite videos in the series so far. Some nice scenery, some nice looks at what you were experiencing along the way and a bit of advice. A nice balance! I wish for a few more of the Montana canyons, but hey, can’t be greedy can I?
Another great video. I think Aly is very right. People are people we all want and need the same things, we just have different ways of getting them. One should never make snap decisions based on how people are different. Look for the similarities and build from there. Thank you two for sharing these travels.
You're making me nostalgic again. My mother was from Hamilton ONT about 40 miles from Niagara Falls. Summer vacation was often a trip to Canada to visit family. If anyone said the word waterfall (there are over 100 of them in Hamilton) we would find ourselves in Victoria park at the lip of the Canadian falls. These days I wonder whether my parents did this for the kids or maybe "some other reason".
Ryan Van Duzer That cliff Niagara falls goes over is known as the "Niagara Escarpment". It runs a few hundred miles near the great lakes. Your route across southern Ontario would not have come near it except at Niagara. As I was writing my previous comment a thought occurred to me. Maybe my parents were reliving some memory from before they had children and obligations. I see you two are making a lot of memories that you can relive later. (not that I'm qualified to give relationship advice)
That was a good one Ryan and Ali! The Falls was great and thanks for sharing. Getting to see the Erie Canal path was cool too. I’ve been on the C&O tow path before but the Erie seems like it’s a nicer maintained trail to me. Really enjoyed this episode.
I love waterfalls hello New York I love how you guys chance at every new place you guys enter into you guys have inspired me to do a little dancing in my videos tomorrow is Monday and me and my friend Shay are walking up a mountain called hugs back here in Klamath Falls Oregon and when we get to the very top we too will dance after a 15-minute break you guys are so awesome
Yes, rekindle the fire, after 34 years of marriage my wife and I are cycle now that the kids are gone, You both are sooooooo lucky to have wonderful friends and family around the country who love and care about you!
Two more thumbs up, and a toast with a Tim Horton's coffee and chocolate frosted donut on Ep. 31! Reading the comments, there is nothing more that can be added. Redundant, I know, but all of these videos have been outstanding!
You have inspired me to het back on my bike and ride more. Few weeks ago I found this channel and it was the spark I needed to get off my but and get back on 2 and get some exercise in my life. I bought a Trek Dual Sport (Awesome bike) and outfitted it to ride pretty much anywhere for campimg and fishing. Been riding it for short trips to the grocery store because I bought a bike trailer for it as well amd just to get subway etc. Missed just being out in the sun and fresh air. Also I'm going to tune up my motorcycle and start riding it to work instead of driving (I wprk too far to bike on a daily but the motorcycle is great for what I need to commute on). Mayne I'll do a nice little bike vacation soon (cant now because I really need to het in better shape to accomplish that, baby steps) but last few weeks back on the bike has been great.
Thank you Ryan, Canada seems a fantastic country with awesome people, a great place for cycling too. What's next for you & Allie? Well, I've got an idea for you = riding your Trek stallions from Nova Scotia all the way up to Yukon Territory. What do you think?
Hey guys i just kinda stumbled onto your videos yesterday, you do a wonderful job! Both of you are always very happy and optimistic. I am sure there are bad moments but you both seem like fun-loving folks. I've been trying to plan to bike the Erie Canal for a year, but work seems to get in the way. Thanks for this motivation to keep planning
Glad you found my channel! I've got lots of bike adventure on here if you ever need some inspiration. Erie Canal is a winner for sure, hope you can make it happen someday
Ah man I ride the Erie Canal every week! I wish I saw you guys. What did you think of Rochester, NY? I hope you found the camping spots. I hope you check out the Genesse River Trail near University of Rochester. It takes you to the beautiful High Falls district in the city. There is also a great restaurant called the Genesse Brew House owned buy the brewery. They also may have tours of the brewery. I’m so excited you may have been through my city. This gives me a great idea of what to expect next summer when I ride the Canal to visit my brother in Buffalo.
As always, I love your videos. Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE create some type of map? I’ve been trying to follow along during the videos but sometimes where you are or the routes you took were unclear. Me and my wife would like to make the ride and use your route as the backbone.
Also, because of you, I tried my first bean burrito (I eat at least 3 a week now for lunches) AND am now hooked on the lime Cholula sauce. So thank you for that!
Thanks Levi!! There's a link to our route in the description of every video, give it a look. And congrats on working bean burritos into your diet, sooo yummy :)
I've been following your trek (no pun intended) for a while now and have enjoyed every video that I've watched (sorry, haven't seen them all) but I absolutely LOVED this one. Didn't particularly enjoy the crass commercialism at Niagara but even Lourdes has the same, so I'm told. As for the rest - WONDERFUL!! And what terrific friends you have there in New York state! I thought that was pretty D&M advice they gave you both. The only 'glitch' that I could see is that you, Ryan, need to study birdlife a little; they were ducks, not geese. Never mind, I forgive you for that..... I finally checked out the map of your course and was amazed to see that it's almost straight across America, apart from the dogleg after Niagara. So, what's next?
This series of videos is great. Like others have said, i am sad to know it's ending soon. Thanks for the videos (and the route)! Totally inspiring. So did I miss a video or did you guys not get a single flat during this trip?
Hey ryan :) how and where do you leave your bike & bags safely if you are going to walk in city's ? You remember i told i was going to buy the ALR5 ? Well after some intense meditation i decided to ride the 7000km on my current bike. To teach myself to appreciatie what i got and aim less for the best and good stuff :) I just kinda wanted to let you know. You both are amazing individuals ♥️
I think that's a great choice! How did your bike handle? Hope you had a great time! I don't bring a lock on tours, I always find a safe place to stash my bike, at someone's house or at a bike shop. Cheers buddy
I have to agree with a statement further down the comment section, this two really did give some great word of advice filled with wisdom. After a lifetime of trying things out, i felt they knew exactly what they where talking about. As always great editing, filming and man! How do you manage to stay positive like all the time? Or...is it just that you edit that stuff out? :D Good work to you both, Ryan and Ali. Keep it up! :) Cheers from Norway!
Yeah, they gave some very key advice, so fortunate to have these people in my life. I'm positive most of the time I'm either running or on a bike...I can get cranky when I'm in front of the computer too long (but I don't film that). Heja Norge!
Where do you leave your bikes during these adventures off road? Im about to cycle from Vancouver to SF and im little concerned about my bike getting stolen
Hello friends of #LoveCycles Can you believe that we’re closing in on NYC? In Oregon, it seemed impossibly far...but not anymore. So grateful to have the Erie Canal trail to take us gently across NY.
Did you make it to Everest base camp?
It's gone by so fast watching you, I can only Imagine how fast it has gone by for you.
First time looking through your channel on TH-cam. Funny to watch this episode. I spent many years living along the Erie Canal in Medina and Albion and actually graduated from Albion High School. 👍
Cool! We loved our quick stay in Albion
@@duzer I was referring to the entire tour!
Oh man I'm hooked dude. Your channel is my new coffee. Cheers mate.
Aero FPV thanks my friend! Glad you found this channel. Hugs from Boulder!
Omg how right is that?! Talking and bringing up the past absolutely wreck my nerves. Couldn't agree more. Spot on.
So true
Love the advice from the sunflowers
Having watched all of these I have to say these 2 have the best advice so far. Ali / Ryan take these words to heart.
I spent the first 25 years of my life in Rochester, NY. I have been traveling the last 6 years and decided to move out to Colorado, for college. It's good to see my home biking trail. J S nice!! Loved riding that bridge. Your area is so beautiful, I wanna go back someday
I had Mrs. Shively for art class! I don’t really recognize her, but I remember that name. The Erie Canal is beautiful.
WOW! You did?? I think she taught half of Boulder :) The Erie canal was such a great surprise!
Ryan Van Duzer I was at Columbine K through 2nd grade.
Great storytelling, editing and camera work!
Thanks!
I rode the Erie Canal Trail from end to end in 2016. Loved it. Also love all your videos, Keep up the good work.
Very cool! I'd like to take my mom back someday for a ride
You guys are so adorable. I mean really adorable and I know adorable. In fact adorable at a whole new level of adorable. Really good stuff guys. Thanks.

Thanks Stephen! Happy to know that people are smiling far far away! The power of youtube is amazing!
So epic!! You rode through my home town and I spent my childhood riding up and down the Eire canal so cool!!

What a nice couple in Canada at the beginning of this video! They set you up with a camp site and cooked breakfast with pancakes and maple syrup. Awesome! The tourist boat, umm, well, everyone looked like a red gummy bear or something similar.
They were super nice, so glad that we met them
Some of the best advice yet that I can relate to.
I agree!
That couple was so awesome! They seem to have a great relationship!
Yep, they're awesome!
I love how Allie points out how we humans have a natural attraction to natural wonder. I thinks it says a lot about the fundamental needs of us regardless of social pressure.
Yep, humans need nature to connect...on so many levels
Those were some fine looking pancakes cooked to perfection by fine Old Stock Canadians.
They were indeed!

Great video, I live in Rochester, NY and Erie canal is my favorite place for biking.
Nice! I'd love to live close to a trail like that!
One of my favorite videos in the series so far. Some nice scenery, some nice looks at what you were experiencing along the way and a bit of advice. A nice balance! I wish for a few more of the Montana canyons, but hey, can’t be greedy can I?
We do miss those epic mountains, but the charm of the East coast is cool too
Great series of videos!

Never mind, I forgive you for that..... I finally checked out the map of your course and was amazed to see that it's almost straight across America, apart from the dogleg after Niagara. So, what's next?
Those were Canada Geese en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_goose
haha, I'll work on my birding...what's next? not sure yet...but we'll think of something
@@jamesfrese My mistake. Sorry to you and Ryan!
This series of videos is great. Like others have said, i am sad to know it's ending soon.
Thanks for the videos (and the route)! Totally inspiring.
So did I miss a video or did you guys not get a single flat during this trip?
ZERO FLATS!!! Crazy eh?
@@duzer That is nuts. Talk about road angels.
What are you gonna do with all that love advice? Do you feel overwhelmed? Keep at it Ryan.😍
We use it everyday...and are very grateful to have met so many wonderful people

Hey ryan :) how and where do you leave your bike & bags safely if you are going to walk in city's ?
You remember i told i was going to buy the ALR5 ?
Well after some intense meditation i decided to ride the 7000km on my current bike. To teach myself to appreciatie what i got and aim less for the best and good stuff :)
I just kinda wanted to let you know.
Heja Norge!
Someday I`d like to ride with you around our City of Mississauga Ont,let me know when your next trip is.
I can show you around our city by bike,we have some new bike paths we can check out.I have a bicycle room you can put your bikes in while you rest.
Does anyone know the music that kicks in around 7:53?
What's the song playing when they enter New York?
Coopers are the people who make barrels - makes sense now I bet
