It's nice of you to help remove the stigma from ebikes. I have knee injuries so I have one. I'm younger and I get a lot of mean looks, but it's better than a scooter where I don't get ANY exercise.

Hi Ryan, I just want to thank you for making this video. I saw it a few months ago and decided that after I paid off my mortgage I was going to purchase myself an ebike and get active again. I have arthritis in both my knees and had really stopped being active because of it. Well I purchased a Tern HSD cargo bike six weeks ago and my life has totally changed. I ride my bike to the dry cleaners, grocery store, ice cream shop, postal center, to my town hall to drop off my ballot and on many bike paths. I have put in over 500 miles so far. No looking back. Thanks so much for the great videos, and please tell your mom that she is an inspiration for us all.
My friend David was getting slower and slower on his bike and finding it hard to ride up hills after 2 years of me nagging him he bought a ebike he is 82 years old and now loving it ! It brings a smile to his face just like your mom.

My wife always says she can’t keep up with me because I am about 17 mph road cyclist. now with our electric bikes my wife of nearly 40 years can keep up with me…..for the first time ever. ❤

@@duzer wondering if you could make a suggestion to me if you have time. I have a fixed gear that is my primary (and only) bicycle, and my friends have been going on some longer rides lately. I'm sort of looking for something that would be good for 40-70 miles rides (maybe longer) that's adequately fast but also sort of a do anything type of bike. I wanna be able to keep up but also want to feel like I could hit a dirt trail or something.
I am 60 and loved your mom's reaction to the bike. Wanting to get one soon so I can get off a 2 hour commute each way for shopping. And a half hour commute to the nursing home I work for in Xenia.
I really need to thank you. When I was younger I rode many of the bike trails you rode in Wisconsin on your bike tours. I decided four years ago and take all my bicycle knowledge and build my dream bike. It turned into a Ebike Surly big dummy and built it from the ground up. I ride it to work and shopping in town. Now a new wave of upgrades are happening. Your videos helped me decide to start touring. Maybe after a few shorter tours, when I retire in a few years I can tour to the West coast. Thanks again!

Great choice for your Mom! I'm so happy for the both of you. I'm 66 and got my first eBike last year after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I just got a 600 after initially wanting a Current like your Mom's. Once my conditioning improves and weight drops, l'm going to work on gradually climbing the mountain (8,000+ feet) east of my home. I've resolved to used my car and truck as little as possible during good weather. I'll be on 2 wheels for the rest of my life. I wish the 600 had the Get Out There stickers like the 600X.

Love this. My mom got an ebike a few months ago and goes out riding all the time. So great being able to go out together and not have to worry about differences in skill/fitness levels. Also the bike looks awesome. I got a 600 after you reviewed it, and Priority is killing it!

This was so sweet you did this for your Mom! My husband really needs an ebike to be able to go on rides with me, since I do 20+ miles at a time and sometimes there are hills. We have found these bikes to be too expensive for our budget, so we are trying to find a kit to fit his very new Trek Marlin 6.
How cool for your mom. We had a similar experience here... We got my wife a Townie Go e-bike and she loves it. Like you I am a lifetime cyclist, there is nothing I like more then riding my bike... I was event a bicycle patrol police officer back in my past lifetime. However my wife was never really into it. We had a Santana tandem for many years and that did allow her to keep up with the group (as my stoker) but eventually her interest wained. Then came the Townie Go. Bam! On any hill she is just a dot in the distance, and I am huffing and puffing to keep up. Sweet. While I don't see an e-bike in my near future (we're both 66 years old) who knows, maybe when I'm 75 or 80 I might be thinking about it. Thanks for all the great videos.

I so totally relate to this one Ryan, my hubby bought me an Orbea gain pedal assist gravel bike 2021and it has changed my world, we live in a rural area about 15 kms from town and now I can ride in, do some light shopping have a coffee with friends and ride home, all the time laughing not dreading our mega headwinds. By the way I am 57 and feel like I’m in my 20’s again 🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️. Bike touring here I come👏🏻

I bought my mom an ebike and I rode hers 75 miles one day. I was never going to buy one, but was so impressed, I have 5 emtb's and I bought a welder and I made 3 electric cargo bikes, two trikes and a two wheel front loader. The one has a 48vx50 ah battery and has like 150 miles range. I made the cargo bikes to take my dogs riding and camping

RAGBRAI is open to all bikes that are street legal, which includes ebikes so long as the e-bike’s motor is under 750w, has a maximum speed of 20mph and has operable pedals. So yes, you can ! This is wonderful. I am waiting for my el Cheapo ebike from Amazon, and I’ll use that while I research the “real” ebike I want, which will of course be much more expensive. Gotta do my research before I spend the real dough.
I love this bike! I used to ride all the time when I was a kid, everywhere all the day and night. Since I've gotten older and the car has been my main focus in life dealing with commuting, kids, groceries, etc, I haven't been biking in many years. I've had a really nasty bike crash that messed up my right knee really badly, and just recently had another incident riding an electric scooter. But I'd love to be able to get back out and cruise on a bike, and just enjoy the ride and nature and the sights and sounds that come with getting on them. The idea of a mid-drive torque pedal assist with a belt drive and a hub shifter is the cleanest setup with the least amount of maintenance needed. And it's as simple as it can get with still offering the pedal assist that an ebike can give.I've been looking at a lot of other companies' ideas for bikes. Most offer rear hub motors with chain derailleurs. But very few offer mid-drive motor with belt-drive system, and a CVT gearing system. And yes the battery doesn't go as far as I think I'll probably end up riding, but the company does offer an extender that you can add to the bike to easily double the riding distance with assistance. And overall, even if I didn't have pedal assist, this bike doesn't weigh as much as some of the others, and puts you closer to the actual riding experience, just with a little assistance and push to help you get where you want to and be able to stay out longer and enjoy the ride! Once my injury heals up, I'll head towards the Priority Current e-bike most likely.

The back-to-back ride clearly demonstrated that the levo electrical power was superior to that delivered by the Shimano system on the Tazer. There are many Brands and motor manufacturers out there and it's important to assess each one individually. These bikes are expensive and relatively new so testing is important.
Ebikes are the bomb, i have a lung condition which restricted physical activities and can now ride with my hubby, I definitely feel like a big kid riding mine, and i have started riding mtb trails, its such a big lifestyle change for me!!! 🚲😁💗👍

My mom recently picked up an e-bike, she absolutely loves it! For a 59 year old lady, to be able to ride with her husband and son, and lead the pack at good speeds, is priceless.
I’m a few years late to this video, but wanted to chime in. I ride in a bike club and some members are unable to ride a regular bike at the pace they would like to due to medications. They ride e-bikes and are very grateful to have that option. They can stay active with the club and keep the pace on the hills. E-bikes are great!
Great story. OMG the ebike is a wonder of tech well applied. And you Mom is a wonder that did not skip a beat as her 4th decade son shows up looking for food? And gripes about the banana (grins) And the Velofix guys are slick and a class act.
New bucket list item: build my own ebike, since I can't afford to buy one. Hills kick my butt big...even the small inclines in my neighborhood. I am out of shape, and my big, beautiful, heart is still healing.

You have lots of options, I'd go with a hybrid bike, one that can go on and off road...go to a shop and pick the most comfortable bike!

This was so sweet you did this for your Mom! My husband really needs an ebike to be able to go on rides with me, since I do 20+ miles at a time and sometimes there are hills. We have found these bikes to be too expensive for our budget, so we are trying to find a kit to fit his very new Trek Marlin 6.

How cool for your mom. We had a similar experience here... We got my wife a Townie Go e-bike and she loves it. Like you I am a lifetime cyclist, there is nothing I like more then riding my bike... I was event a bicycle patrol police officer back in my past lifetime. However my wife was never really into it. We had a Santana tandem for many years and that did allow her to keep up with the group (as my stoker) but eventually her interest wained. Then came the Townie Go. Bam! On any hill she is just a dot in the distance, and I am huffing and puffing to keep up. Sweet. While I don't see an e-bike in my near future (we're both 66 years old) who knows, maybe when I'm 75 or 80 I might be thinking about it. Thanks for all the great videos.

I so totally relate to this one Ryan, my hubby bought me an Orbea gain pedal assist gravel bike 2021and it has changed my world, we live in a rural area about 15 kms from town and now I can ride in, do some light shopping have a coffee with friends and ride home, all the time laughing not dreading our mega headwinds. By the way I am 57 and feel like I’m in my 20’s again 🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️. Bike touring here I come👏🏻

I bought my mom an ebike and I rode hers 75 miles one day. I was never going to buy one, but was so impressed, I have 5 emtb's and I bought a welder and I made 3 electric cargo bikes, two trikes and a two wheel front loader. The one has a 48vx50 ah battery and has like 150 miles range. I made the cargo bikes to take my dogs riding and camping

RAGBRAI is open to all bikes that are street legal, which includes ebikes so long as the e-bike’s motor is under 750w, has a maximum speed of 20mph and has operable pedals. So yes, you can ! I love this bike! I used to ride all the time when I was a kid, everywhere all the day and night. Since I've gotten older and the car has been my main focus in life dealing with commuting, kids, groceries, etc, I haven't been biking in many years. I've had a really nasty bike crash that messed up my right knee really badly, and just recently had another incident riding an electric scooter. But I'd love to be able to get back out and cruise on a bike, and just enjoy the ride and nature and the sights and sounds that come with getting on them. The idea of a mid-drive torque pedal assist with a belt drive and a hub shifter is the cleanest setup with the least amount of maintenance needed. And it's as simple as it can get with still offering the pedal assist that an ebike can give.I've been looking at a lot of other companies' ideas for bikes. Most offer rear hub motors with chain derailleurs. But very few offer mid-drive motor with belt-drive system, and a CVT gearing system. And yes the battery doesn't go as far as I think I'll probably end up riding, but the company does offer an extender that you can add to the bike to easily double the riding distance with assistance. And overall, even if I didn't have pedal assist, this bike doesn't weigh as much as some of the others, and puts you closer to the actual riding experience, just with a little assistance and push to help you get where you want to and be able to stay out longer and enjoy the ride! Once my injury heals up, I'll head towards the Priority Current e-bike most likely.

way to go Ryan! Another wonderful life story coming from your Channel! I'm very happy to see your mom has found something new to light up her life and give her more biking activity. I'm considering getting and ebike for longer mountain biking rides now and I will pick one up for a weekemd test drive tomorrow. 3 bikes I have in my sights: Pivot Shuttle, Specialized 2019 turbo Levo, and the to be launched this month, Intense Tazer.

I rode the new Intense Tazer 3 days in a row and the 2019 Specialized turbo Levo Comp Carbon model at a public bike demo the same day and area that I rode the Tazer. The back-to-back ride clearly demonstrated that the levo electrical power was superior to that delivered by the Shimano system on the Tazer. There are many Brands and motor manufacturers out there and it's important to assess each one individually. These bikes are expensive and relatively new so testing is important.
Ebikes are the bomb, i have a lung condition which restricted physical activities and can now ride with my hubby, I definitely feel like a big kid riding mine, and i have started riding mtb trails, its such a big lifestyle change for me!!! 🚲😁💗👍

My mom recently picked up an e-bike, she absolutely loves it! For a 59 year old lady, to be able to ride with her husband and son, and lead the pack at good speeds, is priceless.

I’m a few years late to this video, but wanted to chime in. I ride in a bike club and some members are unable to ride a regular bike at the pace they would like to due to medications. They ride e-bikes and are very grateful to have that option. They can stay active with the club and keep the pace on the hills. E-bikes are great!
