    Great review, Stu. I also have a unit for about a month now. I noticed that sometime you use the carry distance (the pitch mark with the one spun back), sometimes total distance the 198 yard shot. so which one is it? What I find that when you're hitting ball up or down slope, it can be off, also several yards off with 50 yards shots. Do you see this too? thanks!

    I've seen some comments talking about wind and elevation changes fooling this device, and I think those comments are missing the point. This device helps amateurs figure out their "ideal" yardages (i.e. flat ground, no wind). Once you have your "stock" yardages, its up to you (or your caddy) to use that information to choose the correct club while accounting for elevation and wind when on the course.

    At 8:27 the trace from your video and the one from Rapsodo was wildly different and landed at times quite far apart. Do you know why that would be? Cool device, I'd love one!

    Great accuracy there Stu. Quite an impressive bit of kit! Good that theyre available in the UK now as it creates competition in the 'budget' launch monitors for Mevo, Mevo + and Voice Caddie.
    Voice Caddie have just upgraged the SC300/i to have spin for all clubs (it didnt do the wedges previously) and video which includes a coaching app similar to our favourite V1 App 👍👍👍

      Hmmmm I'm impressed with their latest upgrade, it's sonething I'd asked them to consider a couple of years ago and had some very nice dialogue with them about it. It took time but I guess the algorithm is pretty technical and not something they could just do in two minutes.

    Stu, question for you. If you had to choose one. Which would you choose and why?
    Arccos or Rapsodo.

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, for me it would be Arccos as I use it on every shot throughout the whole season. I find “competitive” rounds give different and important figures. As the Arccos system is always active you can just forget about it. I use it for all my clubbing and strategy. Rapsodo is much more a practice tool for club head speed etc.

    I’ve had mine for two months. I’ve put it through the ringer and I gotta say, it is remarkably accurate and reliable. Only issue I’ve had is hitting the range right before dusk, as it needs optimum lighting to perform at its best. But other than that, it’s a gem!

    The software probably knows the altitude from GPS readings but not barometric pressure and not wind strength/direction. It is also going to struggle with change of altitude between start and end locations. It should be easy to fool on a windy day, especially on strongly uphill or downhill holes.

    I really like the companies products. I have the R-Motion and have been playing golf indoors during the winter. My only dislike is they discontinued support of the product. So certain promises or suggestions were made that R-Motion would work with TGC 2019 (which is why I purchased) only to later be told the product support was discontinued and they would not put forth the effort to add the capability of using R-Motion with TGC 2019. Still, they do make very good products.

  • @ForetoFourGolf
    @ForetoFourGolf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    super accurate and plenty close enough for 99% of golfers. As you said it is using a mathematical equation to get a the distance, likely a combination of launch angle, ball speed (and maybe spin?) but what about the windy days? How was the wind on the day you used it?

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tbh I didn’t have much wind so hard to tell but I would say that (like you say) this can’t be measured as the device and all it’s competitors including trackman, Quad etc can’t equate for this because the data is collected all within a few feet of launch. Saying this you really don’t need to have these numbers as this sort of device is for tracking “optimum” situations for you then to adapt when on the course. If your looking to predict your flight patterns on course and to targets (elevated with cross wind and maybe cold etc) then Arccos is your system. These systems can take your average numbers and apply them to the shot your about to hit. 👍👍

    • @sandafoks7056
      @sandafoks7056 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They said they calculate spin rate in the background to calculate distance but don't show it cause it is not that accurate. (Official staff posted this in a forum. I can search for the link if necessary)
      Kind of a weird explanation because how can the distances be that accurate if spin is not? I hope they make spin visible in the future :)
