So, my friend died in an accident. a man who came to help told us he said two things, one his name, Corey..the last word he spoke was Love, then he died holding a strangers hand on the side of the road. As we lay him to rest today all I can hear is Grace singing this song...St. Peter won't you open up the big white gate. Somehow makes it better
I saw her live for the first time last month. I wondered if she would be all glitter but she wasn't. She was down to earth but uninhibited. She was having fun on stage, the band was having fun and I had a blast. Best concert I can remember in a long time. Very very talented...should get more recognition without having to resort to the glitter! Support so she will!
My friend and I were fortunate enough to meet Grace Potter and Matt Burr in Vienna, Va after their show. They opened for The Black Crowes. It was the first time we heard them and they absolutely blew us away. These guys are fantastic and seemed like really cool people!!
Saw Grace & The Nocturnals last night in a little theater in St. Pete. OMG. If you get a chance to see them - DO NOT MISS IT! The energy was incredible. THEY ROCK!!!!
That you do buddy they are one of the best live acts i've ever seen. SO MUCH ENERGY, and you can tell they are just the best time in the world when they are on stage
I am ashamed of myself for not knowing about GPN until now. I've been having a horrible time lately and yesterday I just sat in the dark and cried listening to this song. It's one of those songs that makes me excited about music again... this band is unbelievable and is right on point with the type of music I'd make if I ever followed my dreams and sang for a living. I'll be singing this along with a few other new obsessions every day for a while. Well done... just beautiful.
I LOVE!!!!!!! this version of Grace Potter! In Love! Not too hip on the new slick version (Paris). But, I'm an old hippie. The Hammond B3 is god! What a combo. Grace and the B3.
Grace is still the real deal ,still a Vermont country girl at heart, The record execs glammed her up but she's still the real original Amazing Grace we all love ! Saw her in an intrview when asked who inspired her and she did not even pause to think, she said Billy Preston inspired her to master the B3 Hammond and Dr John inspired her piano style ! It just doesn't get more real than that !
Saw her sing this live last month. Grace is helping to make rock relevant again! Catch her on the current tour in small clubs. The next time they tour it will probably be in stadiums.
That was great. I'm shocked. I thought I'd click on to some average, novelty act and bumped into an awesome performance!!!! Loved the words to the song too.
i like the way she works the song. starts out calm & relaxed and builds up the dynamics to an intense climax, as well as her having an excellent band. i like that emotion she puts into it. and i like the earthy touch in the subject she sings about. fantastic video. thanks a million .
Stood 1st in line for over 2 hrs last night at the Madison and I'll always believe she sang this for me mid show. To Jim, and all you crazy Gracie fans that were out there with me, you made the wait at the door a night to remember !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Grace ....you are SPECIAL and full of GRACE !!!!! We love you !
I saw them in VA Beach opening for the Allman Bros. I enjoyed both show and loved it when she joined the Allmans on stage. What bothered me was that most of the crowd missed Grace and the boys opening act and waited to be seated after they left the stage. Plus the two fools who sat behind me and ran their mouth until she started belting them song out!
I never heard of her before Friday at Mountain Jam in Hunter NY. She came on and I was really blown away!!!! Amazing voice and musical talent! Glad I work for Hunter and had an all access pass, I was right up front for most of her set!
I'm going to see her and the band at the river festival here in Richmond VA next Friday 5/14. Sure hope they do this one again...blew me away at Toads place when I first saw them. That guitarist really plays that slide gutar break well...
You're right! I would and definitely like to hear you sing! Know Jesus! He literally holds everything together. Much like you do for this community of people! What an amazing song!
This song reminds me of my real mom we cant really see her any more i miss her a lot i wish i cod see her i wish she was with me she sent this song to me
This gal has got it going on! The band is tight, the music original. I only hope I can see them in person before they explode. I miss the Hammond and Leslie. Glad to hear then again being played with such feeling.
I experienced a live performance of *this edition* of GPN at the 8X10 in September 2007 (either 9/11 or 9/12). I can't remember if they performed BIG WHITE GATE that night or not; either way, that concert truly changed my life...for the better...LONG LIVE QUEEN GRACE!
I can remember the *C. Popper/B. Yurco* edition of GPN performing BWG at Baltimore's RAM'S HEAD LIVE in mid-May 2011; a venue not far from the 8X10 but 'cursed' with an exponentially lower level of *soul* // Still, another incredible performance by Grace & the band; and, another life-changing concert (for different reasons...another story for another time) for me... #LLQG
Yes! They will hear you sing Crazy Grace. And, I'll be there dancing in the aisle! I watch your performances like Farm Aid I I see people just standing there like they're dead. They're not dead - they just have no soul.
If this song doesn't move you, check your pulse. Best last song on an album ever, put this verse on my headstone please....."I'm ready for the land of fire, but I'd love to see the land of gold, so nurse bring me my guitar, one more song before I go..."
My body's aching from laying in this bed I went singing in the rain and the cold got to my head I don't know who's paying, I just know what the doctor said 84 years of a sinning life and in the morning I'll be dead, oh yeah I had three daughters, a new man for every one And the only man that I ever loved left me with my only son I was a no good mother, I was a no good wife There's only one thing that I did right in this godforsaken life So Saint Peter, won't you open up the big white gate ?Cause I heard about forgiveness and I hope it ain't too late No, I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your King That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing I sang to my children before they strayed so far I sang for my lover or a nickel in a tip jar I never knew Jesus, I never read the Good Book But on my day of dying I'm giving life a second look Saint Peter, won't you open up the big white gate ?Cause I heard about forgiveness and I hope it ain't too late No, I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your King That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing, yes, they would It's coming on time now and my body's getting cold I've got no will, I've got no prayer, my story's all been told I'm ready for the land of fire but I'd love to see the land of gold So nurse bring me my guitar, one more song before I go Saint Peter, won't you open up the big white gate ?Cause I heard about forgiveness and I'm hoping that it ain't too late No, I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your King That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing All the folks up in heaven might like to hear me Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Grace Potter
This girl rips your heart out of your chest and forces you to wear it on your sleeve, soulful, heartfelt, dynamic....She's got it all!!!
Who doesn't love Grace Potter.

Honor is a key to that gate

Just Gracefully... Grace and God are Good
2020 and still coming back for my weekly dose!! ✌️
I think the change that everyone is talking about is just Grace coming out of her shell, to be free and spirited, like the music.
My friend and I were fortunate enough to meet Grace Potter and Matt Burr in Vienna, Va after their show. They opened for The Black Crowes. It was the first time we heard them and they absolutely blew us away. These guys are fantastic and seemed like really cool people!!
The more I hear of Grace Potter, the more I enjoy her music! Sweet !

I saw Grace Potter in December and that girl is something fierce! So much talent and heart.
Wow .... close your eyes and see then look with your ears. What a Blessing!
Her voice just grabbed me. A new fan here.
Completely "raw ethereal talent" !! My husband turned me on to her voice, then her videos. We both "love" Grace and the Nocturnals :O)
I had the pleasure of catching GP&TN last week in Tulsa. They blew the roof off the joint.
I'm so loving this music!
I LOVE!!!!!!! this version of Grace Potter! In Love! Not too hip on the new slick version (Paris). But, I'm an old hippie. The Hammond B3 is god! What a combo. Grace and the B3.
The voice of the Angels.....Where have you been all of our lives?
I was there that night. First time I ever met Warren too. They were so cool. War Memorial. Very cool guys. Bought their cd too.
When you have it, you have it! And she has it💕
I sing this with my band. Its very personal to me. I will have this played at my funeral. hopefully no time too soon.
She is a brilliant kid. She pulls that music from within.
Ten years and i still coming here... ❤️

Continues to amaze...
I´m in love. Great Grace Great!
You are 100% correct Kevin.
i love this song
Great tune!
I agree with you. Love her older tunes more
My body's aching from laying in this bed
I went singing in the rain and the cold got to my head
I don't know who's paying, I just know what the doctor said
84 years of a sinning life and in the morning I'll be dead, oh yeah
I had three daughters, a new man for every one
And the only man that I ever loved left me with my only son
I was a no good mother, I was a no good wife
There's only one thing that I did right in this godforsaken life
So Saint Peter, won't you open up the big white gate
?Cause I heard about forgiveness and I hope it ain't too late
No, I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your King
That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing
I sang to my children before they strayed so far
I sang for my lover or a nickel in a tip jar
I never knew Jesus, I never read the Good Book
But on my day of dying I'm giving life a second look
Saint Peter, won't you open up the big white gate
?Cause I heard about forgiveness and I hope it ain't too late
No, I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your King
That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing, yes, they would
It's coming on time now and my body's getting cold
I've got no will, I've got no prayer, my story's all been told
I'm ready for the land of fire but I'd love to see the land of gold
So nurse bring me my guitar, one more song before I go
Saint Peter, won't you open up the big white gate
?Cause I heard about forgiveness and I'm hoping that it ain't too late
No, I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your King
That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing
All the folks up in heaven might like to hear me

Come home Grace! Please come home.
Glitter or jeans, she always looks like she's having fun and sounds great either way
Uniquely Grace a whole new bar compared to any of the greats before her..........amazing !
Grace wrote this as most of the music GNP perform ! OK. they do some amazing covers as well, lots of Neil Young and 70's classic rock too !
Brilliant!
Sometimes I listen to this on repeat and try to figure out where I'm headed and why it all seems to have gone wrong
Sei così dolce Grace. You're so sweet. Brava Grace, sei fantastica.
SHE BECOME EXCELLENT SINGER
dang this is good stuff
This is my favorite song by Grace. It's crazy this is one of the only recording of it on you tube! Does she not do this one live?
Completely agree with the Janis part, that's exactly why I love her.
goosebumps :')

Epic!

Does anyone know if Grace bats for the other side? Regardless what a talent
