Wrong title, wrong captions. He is NOT saying "It sounds out!", he's saying "TURN IT DOWN." He says it again at 1:22: "Turn it down!!". The guitar isn't out of tune. It's too loud in his in-ear monitor.

his tech is doing an incredible job, I was looking at him in the first row. it could happen, but very rarely. he is working with this tech (Chad) for 20 years.

A guitar can easily go out of tune in an instant, how hard the player hits the strings, hot/cold temp changes. The tech is on point the majority of the time, explaining why he's been with them for multiple tours.

Doesn’t sound out to me,not the best audio quality to say for sure , but as a guitar player myself I’m pretty sure it’s not out of tune. You could see his tech just checked it before he gave it to James. I think he says turn it down. My bet is his in ear monitors is too loud. Different guitar , higher output maybe!?

That’s definitely an “IT’S LOUD!” a couple of times, And then comes the “TURN IT DOWN!”
Read the comments, sounds like a lot of people disagree and that he is saying it’s too loud turn it down. Not that it’s out of tune. Honestly the audio isn’t great and I’m not hearing anything obviously out of tune in the clips.

In fairness... all the practise and work that goes into those shows and being there only to get on stage and your guitar is out. Look - guitars go out of tune. It happens. But I can't understand how he went the whole song with nobody swapping the guitar for him

Mustaine's guitar would be flying at guitar tech the minute he feels it's out.
To tell the truth, if I was lucky enough to land a job as Mr Hetfield's Guita Tech, and it's a thing I can barely conduct personally, (what with whoppingly vast amounts of stuff to do at home for my dear relatives one and all!!), I'd somehow instantaneously have to develop brilliant communication hard earned skills, and be polite, yet firm in order to convey what to watch out for such as, strings not being settled in on each guitar and other minor variables such as any trying to prevent any detunings, inadvertently by incorrectly handling the guitar when locking and loading up ready to fire off these mighty, and with Metallica, I'm serious, mighty riffage, chordal, arpeggios, single note solos, be these of whatever type. It must, p'raps, be a 'mahoosive' operation manning every section throughout all of these musical brilliant superheroes' operation, and to many, ok, some, then, it may not entirely matter too much, yet, any craft, any art, any music, any writing, any politics, anything made, produced by craftsmen or craftswomen, craftspeople, it matters that your best, your absolute best you can do is done, so the art seems effortless and as perfect as you can make it. Isn't this part of the art of any muso,too?

THIS! I've seen so many guitarists just tweak a tuner mid song and done. SRV used to do it all the time, Hendrix too. Hetfield can hear it's out, but can't turn a tuner?

If you're a guitarist and need to go off stage and have a tech tune your guitar, you have no business playing a guitar
I thought that too, but I also think it would be hard to hear your guitar if you want to tune it yourself (assuming you mute it} over the crowd, especially with the hearing damage he would have gotten over the years.
dude, this isnt your garage band playing at local pub..he uses 8-10 guitars..If hes paying someone 100 K a year to keep his equipment ready, well, so be it

It s impossible to tune a guitar on stage himself with the others instruments in the ears....and during a song ....but the show must go on....and james is a performer ....so let s rock n roll baby....he hasn't got any choice ...it s human...and it s why, we love metallica.
Lars is always out of time, and he never complains.
Im sure he does, can’t exactly do that on stage, it more than likely happens backstage after a gig and im sure there are dirty looks exchanged when the dane falls behind or speeds up
