Advice to all DM’s out there, if your bard casts Irresistible Dance on a criminal, make sure to describe the criminal as dancing poorly, since guilty feet have got no rhythm
If I'm being honest I was expecting at least two levels of Warlock. Disguise self is great to have on a Bard but it's even better when you can do it at will which the mask does a lot. Not to mention Fey warlock would have been a really good pick because of the Charming ability you get at level 1. I would literally do this build the exact same way but instead of 19 bard / 1 rogue, I would have done 18 bard / 2 fey warlock
I feel like if you're going for a trickster god build, as in the point of the build is at least partially to deceive, you should build out your wisdom a little more, and take three levels in Fey wanderer. Even with expertise in persuasion and deception those extra five points can be super duper helpful (to note: that is a 10 + 14, to a total of 24 on charisma based checks with which you have expertise, as opposed to a + 19) then also, changeling or the warlock "mask of many faces" plus the friends cantrip
I'll be honest, I'm impressed, I didn't think this build could be done. Movie Mask seems pretty powerful, but if you read the comics you find out that The Mask (or Big-Head) is basically a seintent, homicidal infinity gauntlet with a toonish flair. He can just blink a Tarrasque out of existence, or worse, into one. And when I say infinity gauntlet, I mean it. In one comic, Lobo fights The Mask, and they wind up literally blowing up half a galaxy. The Mask is definitely one of those omnipotent, scary God things that you have to outthink rather than fight directly, or I should say, outthink the person wearing it... and hope The Mask hasn't overtaken their personality completely yet.
Saying that, it's pretty hard to out think someone that just says no to all forms of conventional damage. I'm sure there's something you could do, but in a high pressure environment with the intelligence of even a great mind, it's probably not going to go well. I think the real problem is that we all know someone that would have fun actually playing this in a campaign, and the DM would love or hate them, no middle ground
@@matthewparsons4597 There's a known "weakness" in that you can convince or guilt trip the Mask's wearer into removing it. It does require the Mask not to have completely taken over yet, and for you to be VERY good at essentially talk no jutsu-ing someone, but it's been done in the comics.
19 levels of bard is really good, but if you don’t think you’ll go that high I recommend 3 levels of hex blade warlock with pact of the blade. Disguise self for free, summon a giant hammer out of no where, and hit with the powers of nonsense instead of strength or dexterity.
I could even see Dao Genie warlock Your vessel can be like a Hat or a Bag which can be used as a focus and bludgeoning damage (a boxing glove on a chain coming out of a hat as Eldritch Blast or Bludgeoning dmg)
I am actually playing a mask like character in my campaign, a slimefolk Druid that became aware of the fourth wall after his mind was transferred from his dying firbolg body, into a device that was originally going to be placed into a warforge body, but was dropped down the stairs, out a window, and into a slime, I chose Druid because shape shifting in a way that people can still know that it is you would make sense for a slime
Perosnally, I would have grabbed Eldritch Adept for Mask of a Thousand Faces, having Disguise Self at will opens you up for MANY more zany costumes, without having to worry about running out of slots.
Better its a variant human bard. The most unique of all combinations! Was disappointed at the lack of true strike and scribe tools considering this is supposed to be a choas GOD build.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKIN'! It's party time! P-A-R-T-why? 'Cause I gotta! With a slick attire and a lovable set of quips, the guy would be a really bizarre family member no one knows how they work but they get away with an array of things. Loving this build. Minor correction on Otto's Irresistible Dance: The saving throw happens at the END of the creature's turn (after they've used it to dance), meaning that you get one round for free.
Minor correction to the correction. The spell only says they can use an action to make a saving throw. "A dancing creature must use all its movement to dance without leaving its space and has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and attack rolls. While the target is affected by this spell, other creatures have advantage on attack rolls against it. As an action, a dancing creature makes a Wisdom saving throw to regain control of itself. On a successful save, the spell ends."
@@austinhaltiner1489 Oh, right. Sorry. But that still happens after they've used their movement, right? So they cannot move or take any other actions on their turn.
@@DvirPick Sorry got a bit mixed up. They use all of their movement but can till take other actions. So they could make an attack or cast a spell but the have to remain under the affects of the spell if they choose not to try and make the save.
Listening to this actually caused me to revise my build for James Eckert from the Dragon Knight series. Initially, I was thinking "If I build him, go Life Domain Cleric for a few levels, then Moon Druid." Of course, once I double checked the rules, the guy wouldn't be able to turn into a dragon (which is his thing - does it at least once a book). Then, upon listening to your build for this guy, seeing the True Polymorph spell, realizing it's a bard spell, I'm now like "2 levels of Paladin, followed by 18 levels of Bard." Grants him a bit more hp, and proficiency with all weapons - probably just take the Defense Fighting Style for extra AC to explain why he's not that great with weapons. Also, gives him his supply of healing, and bards can get healing spells, and many bard spells seem to fit the "Do no Magic Harm" that Magickians of the Dragon Knight world have to follow. Also, in many ways, James is more support and social orientated than combat orientated anyways.
I think Tai-Lung would be a Open hand Monk, with his pressure point skills kinda being like the “Quivering Palm” move they get. Tbh I think Po would be Open Hand as well, it doesn’t suit him to do Necrotic Damage, but I’m sure there are arguments for both.
@@bloodhexesillustration1977 My thoughts for Po being an LD over an OH were that Touch of the Long Death seems more like a Wuxi Finger Hold than Quivering Palm (which is more like Ti Lung's pressure points) and that Hour of Reaping can be easily reflavored so that instead of terrifying foes with a deathly Aura, they're instead Intimidated by the sheer awesome might of your unbelievable awesomeness. Also calling it - based on his Sturdy physique and the fact that Pandas live at high-ish altitudes, I'm guessing Po would be a beast-flavored Goliath instead of a Bugbear.

Creation Bard is great but the first 4 levels should really be Celestial Warlock (Loki would most likely count as a Celestial in D&D) Eldritch Invocation of Mask of Many Faces seems super apropos Pact of the Blade at level 3 to make mallets or improvised weapons Improved pact of the blade to allow for the 2 handed weapons This saves a ton of the Bard spell slots and adds the actual Mask. Yes this is one of my all time favorite characters ever since I was a kid especially after reading the gorey comics too. I figured it would be a bard just cause they are the perfect fit for a zany character that trolls their enemies like Bugs Bunny but I love the addition of rogue at the end for intimidation cause it does fit more with the comics and I never thought about that. Great build as always Tulok and yes future Phil you are looking good. I've never gotten the chance to play D&D but this will definitely be my first character and is pretty close to how I've tried to build him, thanks for this.
Fun Fact: The technology developed for this movie to create the whirlwind-costume-change effect that The Mask uses, was the foundation for making the giant tornadoes in the movie Twister.
I just wish I had the charisma and creativity irl to play something like this to make it fun for everyone. Because to play him well I think you’d have to be a certain type of person
Ah, a Snow Leopard or *Thee* Big Fat Panda - Here's my take on them - The Snow Leopard Background - Soldier with Criminal features (guy's clearly not a good guy) - Swap Athletics for Acrobatics. Race - Tabaxi - would of gone Leonin, but he doesn't do much roaring - does some crazy climbing though. Stealth and Perception. Class - Barbarian. Grab Athletics and Survival. Expecting Monk, right - dude's too angry. Seems to rely on brute force. For unarmed attacks, his claws will help out for a few levels. Starting Level 3 though - Path of the Beast. d6 damage with claws while raging and a bonus attack. Lots of cool things that make this leopard scary beyond scary. Depending on how you feel - maybe swap to Fighter at Level 15 to get Unarmed Fighter to have a d6 punch when he's calm and not raging, and go Champion for better Crit chances, or Battlemaster for some Maneuvers. Bump up Strength and Con. Stats - Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Wisdom, Intelligence, Charisma (no one likes him). *Thee* Big Fat Panda Background - Folk Hero, Guild Merchant, or customize for Ascended Fanboy - One of the common folk, whose adoptive father runs a noodle restaurant, that he works at. Persuasion would be nice to have. Same with History (He knows all about the famous fighters). Race - Bugbear (referencing it due to your choice for another bear-type character). He does have some Stealthy moments, and that funny Sneak Attack in the second movie. Class: Rogue/Monk. Rogue to grab a few skills and expertise in some. Grab Deception, Acrobatics, Athletics, and Intimidation (he has his moments) then swap to Monk. Not sure how to to the Wusho Finger Hold, but Way of the Open Hand seems to fit him. Dexterity and Wisdom would be good ideas. Stats - Dexterity, Wisdom, Constitution, Strength, Intelligence, and let's dump Charisma (as we've got most of the needed skills covered anyways). (Optionally, could go Path of the Beast with Unarmed Fighter from Fighting Initiate, to use his Thickness, but he'd lose most of the important social skills.)
Episode 332 of the Fire Emblem stats: Stanley Ipkiss. The Mask is a cartoon character who can pull anything out of his ass so he's great at every weapon type, including the mounts, heavy armor, and authority. All of his stats are pretty damn high. Clearly he's the bonus boss of this game.
Dm: Please introduce your character Me: They call me Cuban Pete. I'm the king of the rumba beat. When I play the maracas I go chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky boom
If you ever do a combat comparison (like Predator vs. Alien), I would have a battle between the Mask and Thor... as it would be just the kind of shenanigans that Loki would unleash on his brother.
This is an awesome build, but I’d love to see some dragon prince builds, at least for the characters that won’t probably progress more in the next four seasons
So I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I wanted to share something I figured would work. Lots of folks think "Tavern Brawler is bad", and I was thinking about the idea of improvised weapons Like with Thor, if you wanted to throw it, it would need to be a light hammer and only deal a d4. That sucks! But if you want to throw bigger weapons more effectively, you need Tavern Brawler, since weapons that don't have the "thrown" tag, when thrown, count as improvised weapons! That means he could straight up use a maul or a warhammer and chuck it before using his Soul Bond to call it back!
I was excepting two levels in warlock for the invocation that lets you cast disguise self at will, but I guess that would've prevented level 19 from happening (also was expecting to interpret chill touch as a wedgie)

Greatest flex in history of D&D. Change my mind.
Tulok finally made a character so busted they may as well just be the DM.
Very good. I expected Bard but was surprised you didn't throw in some levels of Chaos Sorcerer as well
Looking forward to that Sears Tower build you mentioned!
For when you want to be absolutely, positively, SMOKIN'!
Been waiting for this type of build forever. Can’t wait to see what this looks like
The Rakdos Background makes sense for the mask. Change my mind.
0:28 You know what that is foreshadowing.
The Grinch. ✅
Count Olaf. ✅
The Mask. ✅
Doctor Robotnik.
Mr. Popper.
The Riddler.
And Horton the Elephant.

@@Dile0303 So he’s already begun the Jim Carrey Universe, and didn’t realize it…
@@Dile0303 That makes me wonder, why haven't we seen The Riddler?
@@andrewpowers2249 Oh we definitely will.
He did a lot of Batman's rogue gallery already so I know he likes them too, he probably just doesn't wanna overwelm us with many characters from the same series or he hasn't found an interesting build.
This might be my favorite video you've made, good sir, but I'm also somewhat biased. Seriously though, your builds are always fun to see
Yes this is one of my all time favorite characters ever since I was a kid especially after reading the gorey comics too.
Great video! I’m going on a nostalgia trip, so how do we build Generator Rex, Tron, or Moon Knight? Hope everyone reading this has a good day.
I've wondered about how to build generator rex, and artificer armorer, does get the closest, a fighter and rogue dip also helps.
Fun Fact: The technology developed for this movie to create the whirlwind-costume-change effect that The Mask uses, was the foundation for making the giant tornadoes in the movie Twister.
We need some rabbits running around - a colony of them in fact.
I just wish I had the charisma and creativity irl to play something like this to make it fun for everyone. Because to play him well I think you’d have to be a certain type of person
Ah, a Snow Leopard or *Thee* Big Fat Panda -
Here's my take on them -
The Snow Leopard
Background - Soldier with Criminal features (guy's clearly not a good guy) - Swap Athletics for Acrobatics.
*Thee* Big Fat Panda
Background - Folk Hero, Guild Merchant, or customize for Ascended Fanboy - One of the common folk, whose adoptive father runs a noodle restaurant, that he works at.
Idk if you take requests, but a build for Shawn Spencer from Psych would be killer
Isnt this just a Legendary Artifact that grants wish at will.
*Sssssssssmokin!*
Another banger vid! Keep up the Great Work!
Hey, Blacklight did a "The Mask" build for Spheres of Power too
I was guessing a bard with wild magic sorcerer, but this looks like a fun build
holy SHIT i was literally JUST thinking about this
I was just talking about Jim Carrey yesterday
Definitely going to do this
0:40 Didn't know this was a dream build
Finally! We can finally learn what the point of the mask is!
Now I don't know if that was intentional or not and that really bothers me
I would love to see this in action!
So I totally want a rock band bard that summons a bunch of spectral musicians to do a ton of thunder damage.
Bardificer, i may have done this
Dm: Please introduce your character
Me: They call me Cuban Pete. I'm the king of the rumba beat. When I play the maracas I go chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky boom
Awwww yisss. Jum Carey-verse. Can't wait for Ace Ventura and the Cable Guy (Bruce Almighty is too easy)
I love you so hard. You are amazing. Your commentary is fantastic and I think your delivery is great. Thank you!!
This is really good. Could you make sheets for the video of the characters?
I was really expecting eldritch initiate to pick up mask of many faces
I was expecting 2 levels in Rogue for cunning action. Guess we couldn't fit it.
Rabbit playable race + this = Bugs Frickin Bunny
If you ever do a combat comparison (like Predator vs. Alien), I would have a battle between the Mask and Thor... as it would be just the kind of shenanigans that Loki would unleash on his brother.
Him beating Deadpool is probably my fa favorite episode of Death Battle.
Bards entertain others; The Mask seems to mostly do what he does to amuse himself.
Cool
I always wanted to make this character
Holy crap you _actually did it!_ Thank you!
Can't wait for the Bruce Almighty build
Yeah I'm making this an npc that fucks with the party thank you
Nice!!!
Envisions an anvil running and jumping off a wall and splatting a foe
That moment when you make a suggestion in a comment on a whim and suddenly see it come up as a video…
I was thinking about how to make the Animaniacs in D&D. It's this, but Custom Lineage instead.
That might be interesting
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!!!
This is an awesome build, but I’d love to see some dragon prince builds, at least for the characters that won’t probably progress more in the next four seasons
I'm going to do this for every video you post till it happens. Dante and Vergil from devil may cry 5
Holy crap, amazing video.
So I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I wanted to share something I figured would work.
Lots of folks think "Tavern Brawler is bad", and I was thinking about the idea of improvised weapons
Like with Thor, if you wanted to throw it, it would need to be a light hammer and only deal a d4.
Could just take the Eldritch Adept feat to grab it. Cheaper than two levels.
@@c.v.emmans Oh, right! Forgot that was a thing, you could instead of bumping your dex
What a great video to coincide with my birthday :))
How to play Tai Lung from Kung Fu Pan... Wait, yes finally! Thank you ❤️
i dont play dnd but isn't that just a tabaxi monk reflaver way of the open hand and call it his nerve attack
Player: I wish I to become the DM for this campaign.
I NEED to play this
