I hope you continue it, and grow it until you get over 1 million subs, then continue it some more :) Oh, and maybe a vid about "What they dont tell you about MrRhexx" lol
I absolutely love the history of the giants. Very impressive video! Since your last two videos have been about giants...maaaaybe we could see some giant-kin in the future?
Just wanted to say thanks! Your videos have given me a huge amount of knowledge and allowed me to craft a massive campaign! One of the arcs deals with your Aboleth video and the Mindflayers: the Aboleth is the beginning of time and the Illithid are the eventual future, so the Aboleth is using them as a strike force to perpetuate his rule and helping the Illithid amass an army. The Underdrak has become the only thing keeping them under control and the races have a loose alliance. I can definitely work a new Giant arc based on this video! Thanks!
I listen to yoir videos as a newer DM to get all the back lore on everything in the 5th edition bestiaries. You help so much with creating more detail in my adventures and encounters
Ooo! I got hear pretty quick! I LOVE YOUR STUFF, MrRhexx! Your delving into the established lore is absolutely fantastic for giving DMs like me ideas for how they want to spin that lore in their own campaigns. If you read this can you PLEASE do an episode on Myconids? They are favorite race (and I do think of them less as a monster and more a playable race).
I really like these story base videos. Something about these videos feels real like I'm listening to a bard or a wise wizard tell the ancient lore of the world. I usually watch this when I go to bed because its also very relaxing to listen to...unless its something horrific like the mindflayers or aboleths.
What I love about DnD is that none of this is set in stone. You can change any of it for your home game. Personally, I'm not too big a fan of the Forgotten Realms, but I love the idea that giants and dragons ruled the world before recorded history, so in my homebrew campaign I sketched out a period of time before the gods known to the players arrived in the world, and during that time giants and dragons ruled supreme after having tamed the elements (in my history the Material Plane included the elemental Planes; while the giants and dragons each have their own beliefs, they're not sharing, and according to mortal scholars the inclusion of the Elemental Planes with the Material could account for the elemental natures of each of the disparate giant races). At the end of the war among the gods, Tharizdun was banished, and the power required was so great (all the gods of light and most of the dark), that the Elemental Planes were shattered off the Material, scattering many of each kind of giant to the Elemental Plane that corresponds to their nature, leaving not enough giants left on the Material to populate their now-shattered empire. The banishing also knocked the planet of the Material Plane off its axis, turning what once was temperate land into polar tundra and caking it and the monsters that now inhabit it with ice and snow. In my game, it is for this reason that so few giant ruins can be found on the Material, not just due to the sheer passage of time, but also because many of the ruins broke off and wound up in the volcanoes of the Plane of Fire, or beneath the seas of the Plane of Water, with their banished makers. I really liked the idea that there are some things in the world that even the gods don't know or aren't aware of.
Another great video MrRgexx. I would love to see a video about werewolfs and there kind like the first of the werewolfs or werebears. Hope you are enjoying making these videos as much as we enjoy watching them ^-^
Amazing video always great when my favourite big bois get some love. Does this mean you're going to cover all the individual giants like with the dragons? Would love to see those personally!
As much as i absolutely loved this video, will there be a video for each Giant, telling us of their culture and other such things in lore? Or is this as far as you're going to explain Giants, for this only really explained the basic lore of Giants in general.
With the Ettin video that came out last, I knew this was coming and I couldn't be happier..... my two favorite monster types from D&D have always been giants and dragons, cause they are big, scary, but with their intelligence and lore they make compelling NPCs and enemies. Keep up the good work, and I will continue to spam watch your videos.... (I like to listen to D&D videos while I work on DM stuff.)
Love your videos, they're really entertaining and teach me a lot. I'm hoping you make a video about humans. I always thought it was weird that I can never find real history on how humans came to exist in D&D.
@@NoirRaven I think he means murdering her lover. How stupid does a minor god have to be to bang the wife of one of the most powerful and original gods.
@@zachburskey8868 What minor god could say no to her though; being his wife? That said, again, none of this is proportional to what happened. Yes, he was cheated on but RAPE and then MURDER do not count as justifiable retorts to such a thing. Only a weak, abusive person would do such a thing and surely there was other options but no, he decides to force a pregnancy out of a need to dominate her completely and what did it result in? Nothing but wasted potential.

Great video! Giants are another group from D&D I believe should be given more credit. One thing, though: you said the Underdark cave system was given to the first stone giant and his kin. But the Underdark only came into existence after the elves made their high magic to bring the island of Evermeet. Was this during the Giants rule of after? (Geez, I'm bring picky... sorry, it's been a while since I think about lore)
"The giants had one of the biggest empires in the world" Oh come on! That's cheap. I'd laugh hard if they'd have one of the smallest empires in the world. Smaller than the empire of dwarfs.
There's one part that just doesn't make any sense, I've written it down because I'm interested in other's opinions or how the writers would respond to it. Othea betrayed Annam and cheated on him several times. Annam being, the all-father/great creator, one of the (if not) most powerful gods of all time, listening to some dumb bitch that betrayed him not once but several times. He could have just kept her captive or slayed all the ogres (they were not his children and a betrayal from Othea). So it doesn't make sense looking at his personality and power/strength, that he would listen and take her stupid deal. She however happily carries on enforcing her will by not letting the giants protect their city from her "death" (or exiled) lover with whom she cheated on their father. If she acts like this and he's so powerful he can just threaten her with death if he has to, her being unreasonable and all. Unless he really still loved her. Nonetheless why keep an oath/deal/PROMISE with her when she didn't keep hers MULTIPLE times over, not once, not twice, over and over again. Go let her give birth and then just come back and ask her, why should Annam keep his word when the other party/god/person has already broken theirs multiple times over? If this is from the D&D lore then I'm seriously interested to know what the writer's think about this and how they would justify it or have it make sense from a narrative perspective. Why wouldn't Annam do those things? (him not thinking of them is ridiculous, he's omniscient or at least very smart) I'm very curious to know what others think and why it would make sense maybe.
@@Dzeno2010 as i see it and the way most true giants are described Honour is very important to them, as is keeping an oath of course and it's pretty obvious the giants inherited this from Annam, not Othia, so perhaps it's just the way he is, keeping his oath to her could have been important to him as it was his wife ( betrayal or not, love involved or not ) he prefered making a deal and respecting it for honour/oath reason
So any giant-kin can be the next giant jesus? So like even a player? I gotta go, I need to write an entire campaign

@@zachburskey8868 Annam actually brought the other guy back to life, and he convinced Annam not to just kill Othea.
@@NoirRaven If you get bitchy about him this part of the lore you might be a bit to thin skinned for this game.
D&D lore is always worth watching!
Hey MrRhexx idk if you have seen my comment on the Asmodeus Revealed video. I was hoping you can explain Glasya for me. She is "Asmodeus" daughter but does she know her father true being? How much does he value her? If you could please fill in some blanks that would be great thank you!
Mate. Effen love your videos! It has added unknown depth into my campaigns!!
Trolls better be included in here...
"The giants had one of the biggest empires in the world"
Oh come on! That's cheap.
I'd laugh hard if they'd have one of the smallest empires in the world. Smaller than the empire of dwarfs.
SkywalkerWroc I see what he did there...
Or halflings (if they had one that is)
Thank you for this! I always appreciate seeing your videos, and your lore dive helps bring life to the worlds I create.
you have a good story telling voice, definitely more of this type.
Video was awesome thank you for making them. It’s a crash course on DND that makes me love it. More!
The reason why you don't hear about Giants today is because the Smithsonian covers it up
OMG! I haven't even watched it yet! Thank you so much, I've been waiting for this! And right after that ettin video, amazing!
(him not thinking of them is ridiculous, he's omniscient or at least very smart)
I'm very curious to know what others think and why it would make sense maybe.
People listen, trust, and believe hoes way more than they should
@@Abdega but he's omniscient or at least very smart ...
Dzeno2010
Love makes even the omniscient stupid I guess
@@Dzeno2010 as i see it and the way most true giants are described Honour is very important to them, as is keeping an oath of course and it's pretty obvious the giants inherited this from Annam, not Othia, so perhaps it's just the way he is, keeping his oath to her could have been important to him
as it was his wife ( betrayal or not, love involved or not ) he prefered making a deal and respecting it for honour/oath reason
@@gantzplayer.n.m4410 thanks that seems like an interesting take that might hold up quite well.
I love the indepth deep dive videos. Keep rockin man!
I love your videos... But I'm still gonna hope for Satyrs.
I love this. I wish there was more content that went this deep into the world of faerun.
