What I like very much in TotK is that the villans are actually a little bit organized. Have you seen the fighting formations of the bokoblins when they follow a boss? They have built forts and go foraging. I love that. The Yiga clan started out really annoying, but how they have adapted to the depths is amazing and a genius idea to follow up BotW where you chuck Master Kohga down that hole in the hideout.
That's an immaterial distinction, not a difference, since what you see inside the shrine isn't necessarily what's actually there. Also, there's still a loading screen.
While TOTK is obviously a superior game compared to BOTW and improved in pretty much every aspect, in my humble opinion I think memories were done better in BOTW. Geoglyphs are cool, but having remaining pictures in the sheikah slate zelda took 100 years ago and finding those locations from the picture is so simple yet so creative. I loved that.
My favorite improvement of TOTK is that it has more character development and more story-based detail to it. Honestly, though I slightly enjoyed TOTK more than BOTW, they were both very great and amazing games and I am happy that my younger brother introduced me to them.
@@Braillionaire not really. In breath of the wild, all the octoroks did was clean rusty weapons and make them new. In Tears of the kingdom, they not only reset durability, but also upgrade them, giving different buffs, one of them being increased durability.
Not just dungeons being more unique and themed to their regions, but dungeon bosses! I'm not just fighting a big Phantom Ganon at the end of each dungeon this time around!
The boss’s for the dungeons. Reminded me of Zelda of old. Also loved surprise of meeting and playing again in depths. Shrines was probably mostly please t surprise. BOTW started to feel very same and like a chore, TOTK everyone feels different and new experience and fun!
Hm, fair and valid points and opinions, Personally, I like the Changes made in the environment more, especially the Development of the Children from the last Game, very interesting.
I don't want to spoil anything but once you're done with regional phenomena, you should get the rest of the geoglyphs (in order) before proceeding to hyrule castle. And if you haven't done the master kohga questline, you should do that after unlocking the next sage. One last thing, get the master sword after the fifth sage. Before of after Kohga, I'm not sure.
Im 150 hours in TOTK and only did wind temple. I went and bought BOTW and i cant stop playing it 😅 i am looking forward to gettin back to Tears though. both great games
I’m sorry but the story was trash and really dumb. Zelda goes ALL the way back to Hyrule’s original founding forever ago (by Furries) and somehow Ganondorf is there? And he has even less backstory than usual. No further details about these SECRET STONES? No Triforce? No mention of the Goddesses? Were those different sages than those from OoT? I thought Hyrule was chaos before Ocarina and all races were at war. The Zonai were stupid and one-dimensional. Zelda’s voice actor was horrendous too, couldn’t stand it. Gameplay 10/10 tho obv
@aleclundberg7843 Sorry what the fuck? Did you play BOTW at all? ITS WAY WORSE IN TERMS OF STORYTELLING. And Nintendo doesn’t care about the timeline, there are 500 different timelines.
Ive got two theories about a certain asoect from each game. One, the taoestry at the start of Botw shows ganon to be more like the demon dragon than the bore like apirit he was in botw and link or the hero in the tapestry looks like hes wearing Zonai armor with the green hues around him. And theory 2, Calamity Ganons head shows an orange circle in the middle of his forehead almost similar to how Ganondorf has his secret stone placed on himself 🤔🤔
One other thing that appears to have been fixed, is the Royal Guard's Set. It wasn't upgradeable in Breath of the Wild due to it being DLC, despite it being the only DLC set truly native to that world. But in Tears of the Kingdom, it appears you can upgrade it. Of course this is also one of the only former DLC items not found below the ground.
What I like most about TOTK is how much longer the story felt compared to its predecessor. Taking away the exploration for a moment, once you were done with the Divine Beasts, you could pretty much just go to Hyrule Castle, beat Ganon, and call it a day. TOTK still had the same basic setup, but you weren't done with 90% of the story upon completing each region.
I would love one more trip back to this Hyrule, including the Depths, the Sky islands, a restored mainland/kingdom, caves, explorable bodies of water, and the addition of an alternate/dark world. This would make a game roughly 4 to 5 times the size of BOTW, with an even more richly layered map, while bringing it to a close as a trilogy. I’d also like Link to face off against Demise, bringing an end to his curse, and making room for new villains in future installments.
I like the weapon repair system 👍🏽 Nice addition for those who hated the durability system. I don’t hate it, but I find myself repairing some stuff like the Hylian Shield from time to time.
One of the advantages of the Calamity Ganon from BOTW, in my opinion, is that he is a lot scarier than Ganondorf and looks more intimidating physically. The way he just gets out of his cacoon is cool. I always thought that the way he took over the castle and made it red with malice all over looked very cool. Also, malice looks scarier than gloom, even though gloom does more permanent damage. Also BOTW's villain has a much more epic, dramatic, and cool-looking battle in my opinion, I guess partly due to the music being played. One of the advantages of Ganondorf from TOTK is that he has more personality than Calamity Ganon and the music that comes up as you approach Ganondorf is a lot more unsettling. The area around where Ganondorf resides in the game, which is underground beneath Hyrule Castle, also looks scarier. Also, I did kind of find it kind of cool and fun to have a villain that actually talks and has dialogue, and I kind of wanted one for the sequel of BOTW, though I am also cool with Calamity Ganon not having any dialogue because it makes him seem spookier. Either way, they both made good villains in their own ways.
Spider with mechanical arms and lazers or a 7ft tall buff dude with a massive club? I’ll take the spider any day bro. But ToTK boss was my fav out of the two
I remember getting 899 koroks and I was panicking to find the last one I had to go through maps of where they were located and luckily I found it shortly just warning u be very careful
You have forgotten two of the most obvious improvements that I could just from TOTK videos alone: 1. There is not just the ground level of BOTW, but also the breathtaking sky islands (bringing back memories of the fun floating platforms of Super Mario Galaxy), and the depths which are stunning in their own right. 2. You can build almost anything to drive, swim or fly, as well as attack and defend from enemies.
@@stephanielynn6459 I agree with you it was a step up but too easy. My biggest issue was the sky islands and depths. There was basically nothing in them both. No mystery.
The only thing I would want for the geoglyphs to change is, that they tell you the order, in BOTW this wasn't necessary because the king of hyrule already told us what happened, but in totk we have no idea what happens in the past, for example: you can get the first two memories, but then you get Ganondorf turning into the Demon King, is like if you were spoiling yourself
They do tell you the order. In the mission in which you help Impa through the forgotten temple you find a map of the locations of all geoglyphs, but also in the walls there are the geoglyphs images in order.
I found out( at least to me) that the game bosses while interesting where easier to beat that the Blights from BOTW. I remember spending hours to prepare for Tunderblight ganon fight as well as the calamty ganon fight in BOTW and I beat Ganondorf on the first try( yes, I have prepared but still) also the guardians in BOTW still freak me out, even if I have beaten BOTW, the main problem I have in TOTK are the white and silver lynels as well as the thunder gleoks, due to the limited amount of weapins I can use around the gleooks due to thunder strikes
Tbh, the Guardians became less freaky the moment you learn to parry, after you perfect that they are easy. The gloom hands on the other hand freak me out.
@@althelas true, have forgotten about the hands as I fortunetly didn't encountered very much before finishing the game and not at all after I have beaten it
There are honestly more than 10 improvements that TOTK has over BOTW. The one nerf I didn't like about TOTK however was the selling costs of the ores and just the other items in general. I thought that was harsh, and it makes getting rupees in TOTK way harder.
The fact that this starts with the shines "improving" is crazy to me. BOTW had way better puzzle design both in shines and "dungeons." Great game, but I feel like I speed-running through an unbelievably expansive world rather that meeting real challenges.
The only downside in this game is the fact that the shrines are just way easy in comparing with BOTW. It took me 5 to 10 minutes in average to solve each one of them.
06:48 and in the Russian 🇷🇺 dub Ganondorf is voiced by (i think) same guy some voiced for Goku from dragon ball z Russian 🇷🇺 dub. Not 100% sure as i never watched DBZ.
Maybe, but you have to admit that the dungeon maps in tears are terrible compared to the divine beast maps. In Botw, they had 3D maps where you could see exactly where you were. WHERE DID THOSE MAPS GO IN THIS GAME?
Personal hot take but I thought that calamity ganon offered more of a challenge than Ganondorf. Flurry rushes in the Ganondorf fight just feel too much of a given since his attacks are very easy to read. This is not to say that I dislike the fight, I thought the fight itself was an amazing Ganondorf fight but I just wish it was a little more difficult for what it was built up to be.
I still like BOTW better 1. Better story 2. Better weapons 3. I like guardians better than constructs. 4. I like Champion abilities better than Sage abilities 5. I liked endless bombs. 6. Hearty durians 7. Less talking. Too much scrolling through endless text in this game.
Honestly, I'll gladly take Ganondorf's shit-eating grin over Keyaru's death row inmate laugh any day of the week for the rest of my life! Yes, I know that's completely unrelated to the topic of this video; all I'm saying is screw Redo Of Healer and screw Sentai Filmworks for licensing a "anime" adaptation of that crime against the ecchi and harem genres!
Ganondorf does, and always has sucked as a villan. Even if he is better than Ganon it's by a very small margin. The fight is only arguably better, I personally like Calamity Ganon more because 1. The entire fight isn't just flurry rushing a clone of a overworld boss until they're beaten, and 2. Fighting an eldritch spider monster formed from pure hatred is much cooler than soms old dude.

One of my favorite quality of life changes is that entering shrines no longer requires riding an elevator. You can now simply walk in.
