I just bought an Ebay cheap vintage 27mhz Revo 2.5r ARTR. It looks like it was run once? near mint, no chassis scrapes, no screw damage or post damage. Never been flipped from what I can tell. Stickers are still 100%. The negative: It was Super dirty w/ a locked up engine. I used a little salt and pepper, then did a 20 minutes sauté with chicken and yellow rice, and it loosened right up. No rust, no bearing or sleeve damage, it was just fuel coated to a firm lock up. Ive been doing this trick since the 90s but I forgot the temps...thanks again. Man am I excited to clean up and mod my new family member/score. Nitro Baby!
What a great job glad it runs. just the other day I built I huge ramp out of plywood and fired up my revo 3.3. It jumped great until I went flat out and it ran out of gas on the ramp going up. I had no throttle control and it landed on its head but you know it being a revo it fired right up and kept on bashing after I put more fuel in . glad to be a part of the nitro gang! keep up the great content!
The NitroGang pulled it off again, and we spend no money. We need the money for the fuel and burgers!! ahaha. Thanks for watching bro. I will also be doing an update test to see if the engine still runs good at high RPM and top speeds. Idleing is just the beginning.

hey bro! Glad you found this video, so the repair worked, I eventually ran this enigne in some newer videos. Unfortunately a couple of fuel tanks after the connecting rod broke, but there appears to be no other damage to the motor. I have the new CONN rod and will be putting back into this sickeing OS 18TZ motor soon! You can't OFcially Kill it!!. ahaha
hey my guy!! Thanks! I told you, right!! The Revo never dies!! Anyway, I don't spend pointlessly on RC to be some sort of elitist, you know. I'l be happy running an old hpi nitro, it just so happens that this revo came with the best engine you can possibly get when I baught it used. I'd treat eve the worst engine the same way, as best I could. We will be testing top speeds again on this, to see if any real performance issues exist after this.

hey bro!! Yup, I only did the oven test because I personally wanted to know how effective it would be, and it's 100% good. You can get similar results just using a heat gun, you know. I went overboard here, lol. Engine ran fine after btw.
haha, hey dude. YUP, I fixed that after, I didn't notice while I was recording the video. It was my fault, the E-Clip on the clutch bell was not all the way on, I must have not put it on fully and it came off along with the bearing, LOL. I fixed it right after.

As the block heats up it expands. Formal 1 engines are hot bored so when the motor expands it doesn’t lose performance. But they need to be at operating temperature before they can be started.

hey man! You're gonna love the WLtoys 144001, it's quick and can run a small 3S. I got 40 MPH with a terrible 3S in mine, theres a vid of it on my channel, check it out. The red Feiyue RC is a great value for what you get, at least it's got deadlock wheels, and glue won't be a problem, and hobby grade electronics. But you will need normal shocks as an upgrade.

hey buddy, thanks for watching. Motor savor is some of the best in the filter industry, but the traxxas one is also great. It just so happened that when I purchased this revo it had that motor savor one, otherwise I would just have run a basic stock traxxas one. As long as you see it oiled and clean, you wont have issues.
hey dude, Yes, I did wipe some WD-40 on the screws after this, I just didn't put it in the video cause it would have been like a 50 minute video if I actually explained each step. Soon I will be high RPM speed testing this revo again. The question is will this motor still perform as well as before, just idling it isn't really testing the rebuild as well as I want. you know.
@@hybrid32494 I get ya. I think it sounded fine. All that oil will lube it up good and if the bearings had any sand in them its not going to affect the use currently but will effect the long term use.
YUP bro! This brushless system kicked ass on the prius, no problems and is way more reliable than Land Rover which is currently owned by TATA motors of India.
I'm very picky about cleaning my cars lol after every run it gets a good cleaning lol (especially my nitros) but I just use WD-40 and a tooth brush. I've always been kinda leery about using water to clean cuz it kills your bearings. I don't ever run them in mud or water lol I baby my cars haha

I did a mini e Revo run day before yesterday with my 1/16 Vxl E Revo on stock talon wheels with dark chrome Gemini rims, 34/43 gearing and stock 380 sized 4000KV Vxl Velinion motor with Vxl-3m esc. Man it’s powerful for its size. I am shredding up the pinion gear though...... my integy steel 43 tooth spur is eating it up slowly. I gotta see what’s going on. I know for sure it’ll max 61-64 mph if I was to gps it right now. 3S lipos with a parallel connector 25C 1400 mah Traxxas lipos 11.1 Volts (2).
ye bro! the Mini-erevo VXL is a beast for it's size. It might be the best top speed bang for your buck all around in terms of costs to get 60+ mph. Did you ever run it with touring car wheels? Bro, it handles insane with those.

hybrid32494 it’s all good great video. I just paid for a tube today. Because the stock clutch bearing in my slayer pro . M2c 7075 3 shoe . Jacked up the stock pair . Which you can’t clean. I clean my bearing every time I run in sand . I appreciate you 👊👍
I always appreciate any input or advice my dude! Yup those aluminum shoes tend to mess things up more than they actually give in a performance gain. So far I ran this revo about 1 tank and it seems to be back to normal. For a while there it would die and then spit out a bunch of oil, clearly the afterun oil I drenched the block in. After than, it was 2-speeds down the block the whole time.

Hey bro! You're right, around that timestamp my Clutch bell E-clip and bearing bell out. I must not have gotten the E-clip on correctly. But I found it after when I was editing this video. Good eyes!!
hey buddy! Good question, adding oil there would not do anything, that is the hole for adjusting the 2-speed gear shift change. IT may look like they are suggesting that it's for oil, but it's not. The gears don't need to be oiled, they are not diffs, you know. Good question my guy!!
hey buddy! what's up! You mean a new one?? I have both the T-maxx 3.3 and Revo, personally the T-maxx is a better overall truck and more reliable due to the fact that it's forward only. Eventually you will have trouble with the reverse on the REVO, in fact I currently have fully locked up and need to do a forward only conversion.
hey bro!! WHOOOAH!! that's too hot. you need to richen your high speed needle and aim for not more than a 280 degree temperature. I would say to keep at 250 at most as a safe long term recommendation.
make sure you see a whole bunch of smoke come out of the exhaust too. A quick way to test the heat range on the spot is to put a small amount of ur own saliva on the cooling head, IT should now boil away instantly. IT should take a couple second and then tend to boil off. This is the old-school way of testing heat. You can check your piston and cylinder by removing the cooling head if you're that worried. Some discoloration is normal, but don't remove the head unless you really want to know, any extra engine disassembly could allow dirt to get in easily.
My 3.3 revo right after Iam done running it I hoes it off. Never had a issue with it. Owned it for years now. It’s always clean before I bring it in this house. And yes I hoes the entire thing down.
I do the same with my nitros. Hose them off and then hit them with the compressed air to dry. Finish it off with some nice WD-40. Hasn’t failed me so far.
hey bro! It was quick, not more than about 2-3 minutes. IF that's not enough just stick it in there for more. But you really only need to get it to about 200 degrees at most and it'll free itself up. This is also a good way to get the bearings out if you ever need to replace them.
In conclusion, if you get salt water in your engine, do not wait two days to have a look. Remove plug and spin engine upside down to drain all water. Then flood engine with fuel and turn it over again with plug off. This lubricates everything. Then you should be fine to start it up again.

Good thing I only idled the motor mostly in one spot for this video. Because after I fixed it again, I hit alot of nice 2-speed shifts, lol. all is good. You the man for noticing!!!

in the back there is an OFNA CD3 - a 1/10 nitro touring car, very similar to the TC3. There is also an electric drift car and an HPI Dash, also electric.
hey bro! thanks for watching. I was honestly quite surprised the I saw the DYNO results on this os engine, it's putting out 2.27 HP, thats more than many .21 sized engines. What matters is after this rebuilt If it will still hold a tune and hit the high RPM, I will have to re test the speeds soon.

Glad the salt water didn't damage it. Looks like a good rebuild. I recommend WD40 on the screws and metal parts after doing a water rinse.

The remotes are good but bad for batteries.mine usually last for a day if that then need 2 change them.what batteries do you use in yours

I'm very picky about cleaning my cars lol after every run it gets a good cleaning lol (especially my nitros) but I just use WD-40 and a tooth brush. I've always been kinda leery about using water to clean cuz it kills your bearings. I don't ever run them in mud or water lol I baby my cars haha

I did a mini e Revo run day before yesterday with my 1/16 Vxl E Revo on stock talon wheels with dark chrome Gemini rims, 34/43 gearing and stock 380 sized 4000KV Vxl Velinion motor with Vxl-3m esc. Man it’s powerful for its size. I am shredding up the pinion gear though...... my integy steel 43 tooth spur is eating it up slowly. I gotta see what’s going on. I know for sure it’ll max 61-64 mph if I was to gps it right now. 3S lipos with a parallel connector 25C 1400 mah Traxxas lipos 11.1 Volts (2).
ye bro! the Mini-erevo VXL is a beast for it's size. It might be the best top speed bang for your buck all around in terms of costs to get 60+ mph. Did you ever run it with touring car wheels? Bro, it handles insane with those.

hybrid32494 it’s all good great video. I just paid for a tube today. Because the stock clutch bearing in my slayer pro . M2c 7075 3 shoe . Jacked up the stock pair . Which you can’t clean. I clean my bearing every time I run in sand . I appreciate you 👊👍
I always appreciate any input or advice my dude! Yup those aluminum shoes tend to mess things up more than they actually give in a performance gain. So far I ran this revo about 1 tank and it seems to be back to normal. For a while there it would die and then spit out a bunch of oil, clearly the afterun oil I drenched the block in. After than, it was 2-speeds down the block the whole time.

hey buddy! Good question, adding oil there would not do anything, that is the hole for adjusting the 2-speed gear shift change. IT may look like they are suggesting that it's for oil, but it's not. The gears don't need to be oiled, they are not diffs, you know. Good question my guy!!

hey buddy! what's up! You mean a new one?? I have both the T-maxx 3.3 and Revo, personally the T-maxx is a better overall truck and more reliable due to the fact that it's forward only. Eventually you will have trouble with the reverse on the REVO, in fact I currently have fully locked up and need to do a forward only conversion.
My T-maxx 3.3 was at 350 degrees. on tank 3 of break in. Is that safe? near the end of the tank the engine reached 370.
hey bro!! WHOOOAH!! that's too hot. you need to richen your high speed needle and aim for not more than a 280 degree temperature. I would say to keep at 250 at most as a safe long term recommendation.

make sure you see a whole bunch of smoke come out of the exhaust too. A quick way to test the heat range on the spot is to put a small amount of ur own saliva on the cooling head, IT should now boil away instantly. IT should take a couple second and then tend to boil off. This is the old-school way of testing heat. You can check your piston and cylinder by removing the cooling head if you're that worried. Some discoloration is normal, but don't remove the head unless you really want to know, any extra engine disassembly could allow dirt to get in easily.

My 3.3 revo right after Iam done running it I hoes it off. Never had a issue with it. Owned it for years now. It’s always clean before I bring it in this house. And yes I hoes the entire thing down.
I do the same with my nitros. Hose them off and then hit them with the compressed air to dry. Finish it off with some nice WD-40. Hasn’t failed me so far.
How much time did you left the engine in the oven?
hey bro! It was quick, not more than about 2-3 minutes. IF that's not enough just stick it in there for more. But you really only need to get it to about 200 degrees at most and it'll free itself up. This is also a good way to get the bearings out if you ever need to replace them.
I use to have one of those WL toys buggys. Fun car, just don't try to crawl it lol it kills the diffs
In conclusion, if you get salt water in your engine, do not wait two days to have a look. Remove plug and spin engine upside down to drain all water. Then flood engine with fuel and turn it over again with plug off. This lubricates everything. Then you should be fine to start it up again.

hey man!! Yes, I noticed that myself later. I must have not gotten the E-Clip on correctly. Anyway, I wound up removing the engine and putting the E-clip back on correctly. Glad you noticed that. Good thing I only idled the motor mostly in one spot for this video. Because after I fixed it again, I hit alot of nice 2-speed shifts, lol. all is good. You the man for noticing!!!

hey bro! thanks for watching. I was honestly quite surprised the I saw the DYNO results on this os engine, it's putting out 2.27 HP, thats more than many .21 sized engines. What matters is after this rebuilt If it will still hold a tune and hit the high RPM, I will have to re test the speeds soon.

you could say that yes! lol. I will tell you that I've repaired this nitro after and it's run well for a few tanks, until the connecting rod snapped in half. I don't think it was related, just a result of being old maybe.
