A question… does football Training the job of Power/strength? Cause I have played football for 10 years now and I began with volleyball (playing both now). I had a pretty good jump from the beginning on and I’d say I’m kinda fast.. do I still have to do Strength and Power? Or can I focus on plyometrics only? Thx :)
Brother just do squats and dead lifts for 5x⁵ of squats 5x5 of dead lifts 3 minutes of rest and have dunk sessions who this guy this guy can't even touch rim so why listen to him
@@suzanalker3828 just because u can jump high doesn’t mean u can teach it. This dude is giving u a science based approach that’ll work for everybody, not just the stuff he does. He literally tells u to do hypertrophy/ strength with squats/ deadlifts then plyometrics but u ignored it cause “he can’ touch rim” lmao
Great stuff plz do a video on how beginners can properly go from strength, then power, then joint specific exercise and ploys as they advance. Also include injury prevention tips.
Also technique, physics helps, literally science and how the momentum of your body works, core stability while in the air also, if you jump high but your core is not stable while in the air and you wanna do crazy dunks, you’re gonna lose balance and even feel like your landing way earlier
Very helpful. My training vertical jump sessions are pretty familiar you said in the video. And I would love to follow up your next videos like a whole training program 👍
Okay so as i understand is the same as for strenght but extra steps. You need muscle mass to have actual myofibrils and contractile tissue in good measure, then you move to a base strenght training with plenty submaximal work and some maximal effort, then instead of peaking for strenght as youd do in powerlifting, you double down on speed work and inteiduce plyos. Good. Noted
No. It covers power and plyometric training but you'd want to get a VBT specific course to learn about VBT numbers and how to use the device. I might be working with Vitruve to make a VBT specific course but that's still in the works.
Do I have to do my training in phases or can i combine them and do for example: evry week: 1 day of power/strength, 1 day of plyo exercises like box jumps and 1 day of sprints?
~5% increase in a vertical jump of 20in is 1in. I don’t see how those numbers could be statistically significant 😭 Was it an average with some participants getting way more or?
I have 8 different videos covering vertical jump. Each one teaches you something different. Obviously you don’t care about the research but others do and find this one valuable.

@themovementsystem Hi matt, is the 50 jumps per session suitable for young people? 11-13 years old.
can you make a video like this but for speed as well?
Good idea
Thank you! Great stuff! Follow up video please.👍
Do power cleans or deadlifts help with vertical jump? I can see it helping using lighter weight and focusing on powerful explosive movement.
Does your Program design course cover Velocity-based training?
No. It covers power and plyometric training but you'd want to get a VBT specific course to learn about VBT numbers and how to use the device. I might be working with Vitruve to make a VBT specific course but that's still in the works.

great video
Thank you
Link the study that show stability and balance exercises lead to decrease power output ?
Thank you so much bro
what’s the difference between power and strength training?
Power is more fast and explosive. Strength is more slow and forceful
Or; Power = Plyometrics , Strength; Weight Training.

Is it possible to for type 1 muscle fibers to transition to type 2a?
Yes, every transition is possible. The most common one is from 2x to 2a, the second most common is from 1 to 2a and vice versa so yes it's possible
I thought I heard him say it's Matt with a little bit of tism at the intro 😂

you can increase your jump no matter what exercises as long as you do it. thats the truth. there is no magic pill
Not listening allat
5 to 9% means nothing.....
?? 22 inch vertical + 9% = 24 inch vertical
Why don't you give the people step by step day by day and not crumbs. Is it money you want or to help someone to the next level.
I have 8 different videos covering vertical jump. Each one teaches you something different. Obviously you don’t care about the research but others do and find this one valuable.
Be grateful that he even made a video about it you dimwit
